If I could give this location 0 stars, I would. *Disclaimer: My rating is based primarily on the service we received and how our issue was handled.* On Sunday, June 7, I placed a mobile order for five drinks totaling $33.15 at 6:21 a.m. with a scheduled pickup time of 7:15 a.m. When my boyfriend and I arrived, the location had lost power and was unable to fulfill orders. After speaking with an employee, we were told that our drinks would be refunded. A week later, however, we had still not received a refund. During that time, I called the store twice to follow up. On my second call, I left a detailed voicemail with my name, contact information, and an explanation of the situation, but I never received a return call. On June 14, we returned to the store to discuss the issue in person. The employee behind the counter asked for proof of purchase, which I provided through the mobile app. My boyfriend also showed proof of payment since the order had been charged to his card. After reviewing the information, she sighed and said, "This time I'll let you guys have these drinks, but next time come in as soon as possible." What made the interaction especially frustrating was her overall demeanor. Throughout the conversation, she was leaning over the register, barely making eye contact, and speaking to us in a way that felt dismissive and condescending. Rather than acknowledging the inconvenience caused by the store's power outage and the lack of follow-up regarding our refund, it felt as though we were being treated as if we had done something wrong by trying to resolve the issue. That response was disappointing. We do not live nearby, and both of us work full-time, which made it difficult to return immediately. More importantly, the issue stemmed from a power outage at the store, not from anything on our end. As someone who regularly visits Philz locations, I've always appreciated how quickly staff members usually resolve issues and make customers feel valued. Unfortunately, that was not our experience here. While we did ultimately receive the five drinks we had already paid $33.15 for, the overall experience left a negative impression. The drinks themselves were also underwhelming; we tried the Campfire S'mores and Peanut Butter Cup offerings and did not find them particularly memorable. I have always looked forward to stopping by this Philz when I'm in the area, but after the lack of communication regarding the refund, the need to follow up multiple times, and the way the situation was handled in person, I'm hesitant to return. This Philz is always a solid coffee spot before work! There is a lot of seating inside but I usually just grab and go. Everyone is very friendly and the workers are efficient. I don't know what is in their coffee but it keeps me up at night but is also so delicious! It's perfect for when I need to get through a very busy day at work. I always appreciate coffee shops with plenty of seating and outlets to get some work done. Tom was very friendly and even let me know about the free stickers every Friday, which is a cute bonus! The bathroom was clean, though you do need a code for access. I ordered my usual Mocha Tesora, Philz Way (medium cream and sugar), and my boyfriend got the limited-time Campfire S'mores, swapping the cocoa powder for cinnamon powder. Outrageous. The worst "Too Good To Go" grab bag that I've ever received. Typically, there are 3, 4 or even 5 bread and pastry items in a bag. Philz had two. Two! A PLAIN croissant and a slice of some kind of dense bread like zucchini bread or something. For $6. For items they are trying to get rid of because they're close to the end of their shelf life. I ordered the "surprise bag" from the app Too Good to Go. I got four pastries for 5.25. One was a bear claw, lemon loaf, and a couple other slices of bread. One I could not make out what it was and ended up eating half and tossing the rest. I wanna say it was gingerbread (not my fave). Mint Mojito is my go to drink order at any Philz location. It's always delicious and hits the spot with a hint of freshness. This location is clean, water jug is on the side for self serve. I've come to work remotely at this location and the wifi is fast. Usually not super crowded but I have come a few times and all the tables were taken. read more

When they hand you your drink, they ask if you'd like to make any adjustments to it, which I thought was pretty cool! I didn't order any drink (other people I went with did), so I'm not able to speak on this; however, the almond croissant is probably the BEST one I've ever had. It's super flaky and flavorful, and toasting it is a must! I've also tried the cookie croissant, but I thought it was just alright. The thing that stood out most about Philz was the individuals that worked there. They were friendly, efficient, and helpful! The young man at the counter kindly explained their offerings, when I mistakenly walked up and ordered a latte :o The young woman who made my drink handed it to me and said something like, "let me know if I can change or add anything for you." Wow. I've never heard that before. But the drink was perfect anyway. I tried the Philtered Soul, which is a Hazelnut Flavored Coffee. Sweet and tasty. Also ordered an Everything Bagel toasted with cream cheese. I always get the Honey Haze or the Mocha Tesoro. The Mocha Tesoro has this rich, dark chocolate flavor. No syrup or overpowering sugary flavor. It just tastes like rich chocolate and coffee. The honey haze is similar in the way you taste honey without a cloying effect. Both are awesome and fully worth it. I had the Mojito drink here before and I didn't like that one as much. The coffees were as usual, delicious! the breakfast sandwich was not eatable.. the sandwich was missing half the english muffin and the half it did contain was inedible, hard and stale... i did notice the wrapper of the sandwich was really really hot when i placed it in my cup holder but i drove off to get home and to my surprise the wrapper was super hot because the cheese was melted on to the wrapper..... like how old was this sandwich?? i'm sorry but i will refrain from ever ordering and food items from this place again. I'm not really a coffee person, but I've always wanted to try Philz Coffee, and I was so glad I did! The location is very clean and super welcoming! This is definitely a nice study spot. However, there's also a couple chairs for those who are just waiting for their drink. There's a little water station as well which is nice! I got the Iced Mint Mojito, and I got my sister the Iced Coffee Rosé. Both drinks tasted great, but I preferred the Iced Coffee Rosé because I found it to be a bit sweeter. There's no overwhelming menu which I enjoyed because it made it easier to order a drink. The employees were very kind, and they told me they could alter my drink in case I had a problem with it. Philz has definitely become my new go-to! This location is on the corner of a street so there is no parking specifically for it, however, there was lots of parking available right across the street. I arrived at about 9 AM on a weekday and while there were several people inside, there was barely any line and I received my order very quickly! The gentleman at the cashier and the baristas were very kind overall. The variations of drinks to order seemed very original and alluring to me. I don't see typical cafes serving these kinds of options, although the basics were also readily available. I ordered the small size of the Iced Coffee Rose with the normal/highest amount of sweetener and cream. As someone who has a sweet tooth, but also wants to be better with cutting the sugar overload, I truly loved my drink. It was just enough sweet that it took away any bitterness, but also not overly sweet at all. The rose accents and cream really pulled it together and I especially love that the iced aspect made it so refreshing at the same time. While this location seemed pretty intimate in size and feeling, there were a decent amount of tables and chairs available. The wall art and the lighting really added to the calm ambience. I would definitely recommend this location for a work and/or study spot! I'm looking forward to coming back and trying out their other drink and food options. read more

There's currently a limited edition drink available called Sweet Harmony. Despite the fact that it's spelled with a "y" and not an "ie", I still felt obligated to order this drink. It's made with cold brew using their Unity blend coffee beans, muddled with fresh mint, sweet cinnamon, and oat milk. I would never think to mix these flavors together but they totally work and I'm a fan! Why can't this always be on the menu? You'll see other coffee joints have similarities but I can tell you this, this is the best by far :) On Atlantic and Roosevelt is where you'll find this place. It's not to big but not to small. The only coffee chain I trust! You can never go wrong with the Philtered Soul or Mint Mojito. The bacon and egg breakfast burritos are on the smaller side for the price, but they are delicious (make sure to ask for extra hot sauce). Service is quick and friendly, and the shop makes for a great study spot. TIP: You can adjust the sweetness and creaminess levels to your liking. And if you prefer oat milk to cream/milk, you can make that substitute at no additional charge - unheard of these days! read more

We are fans of the mocha tesora, cold brew, honey haze, gingerbread snap, iced coffee rose, and the best ICED MINT MOJITO! You can order the drinks extra creamy and extra sweet. The service is fast, staff is friendly, and eager to help you choose a drink. It is a nice and quiet environment, and I absolutely love that they have an outdoor space by the garden with tables and chairs. If you are looking for something similar to an horchata latte get the gingersnap and add cinnamon. Or one of their seasonal drinks that was very delicious and also reminded me of horchata was the oatmeal cookie drink with oat milk. This drink also has cold brew! read more

I am a huge fan of Philz Coffee, and I was excited to see that there's a location in Long Beach. This happens to be the closest location to me and about a 25 min drive, but it's worth it. The staff are extremely friendly and always make my time at Philz a pleasant experience. I usually opt for the Iced Coffee Rose, which tastes like an sweet floral coffee blend. It's definitely one of those drinks that you have to try at least once, and it is part of Philz signature menu. They also have pastries -- their bran and blueberry muffin are my favorites! I love doing work here because the vibe is just really nice and calm. There's also plenty of parking available here, so you don't really have to worry about that. Though this location is popular, we thought it was worth reviewing Philz for those who are stuck on other big business coffees that don't offer the true care in taste. This location was also recommended by many, and we want to give a shout-out to @d.onyxx.s for suggesting us a drink to try! We ordered the iced Philtered Soul with oatmilk. This drink was a delightful hazelnut latte with a nice nutty sweet blend. This drink is a safe option labeled under "Philz Favorite." We recommend this drink for the coffee drinkers who enjoy creamy hazelnut coffee! We also ordered the drink @d.onyxx.s recommended. Iced Mint Mojito with Oatmilk (Creamy). This was probably one of the most unique drinks we have ever tried. The mintiness from this coffee was not overpowering or artificial tasting. There was a subtle sweetness to it. The creamy option adds a smooth texture to the drink and it all just blends perfectly with the espresso. We didn't think this drink would be good, but we were very wrong. Recommend! Philz Coffee also offers plenty of pastries, and we order a tomato focaccia. Despite Philz not being a small business we applaud their uniqueness and their authenticity to taste. My favorite coffee spot ever. I used to always drive down to the El Segundo location since the second street location is like 25 minutes away from me but I'm so happy they opened one near me! I used to always come here to study in college and I've never had an issue finding a place to sit. The service is always great, they make sure that you like your drink before you leave and will make any adjustments if it's not to your liking. I always get the Iced Mint Mojito. I believe they only do cold brew coffees and specialty drinks though, so if you're looking for a basic latte or coffee they won't have that here. read more
