Goodness. This space is a mess and while the hours can be convenient they tend to have long, slow lines and chaos inside the store. The visit before today we watched one person attempt to work the counter and make drinks. When the second person came to help she was visibly annoyed (and possibly had come off break to assist). Today we watched the counter be backed up 7 people deep while the order of one person was taken, which was followed by people waiting long periods for their drink and most to be incorrectly made (mine included). Food came out long before drinks so it was either consumed separately or became cold. The manager was at the store and rather than assisting the back up, she pulled another person from the front counter to discuss work schedules. Um, read the room. This doesn't create a relaxing third space. Plenty of other coffee shops to enjoy that we can put this one on the list of "only when desperate". read more

The current staff here does not even deserve 1 star. I am a regular customer here and will not be back until there is a staff change. I placed a mobile order right as I was pulling up to the speaker. I let them know that I had a mobile order, and I was told they had just received it and needed five minutes. There was no one in the drive through at all, so I was confused why I was not just asked to pull up to the window. It would have been no different than giving a verbal order at the speaker. They were clearly irritated that I had placed the order and pulled up at the same time, but I understood and went to park and wait. A few minutes later I got a notification on the app that my order was ready. I pulled back through the drive through and let them know I was there for my order. The employee spoke to me in a tone that felt very childish, almost as if she needed to remind me again that it would take five minutes. There was still no one in the drive through. I asked about canceling the order because I was in a hurry, and was told I would need to call corporate in order to do that. So I said to leave the order as it was and went to park again. A few minutes later I came back through a third time. There was one car ahead of me. When I asked if my order was ready yet, I was told it had been thrown away because I drove off. I explained that I never drove off and had simply parked to wait, but I was corrected and told again that I drove off. I was then told they would remake it and to pull up to the window. I did so because my daughter still had not eaten and we needed to get to an appointment. When I pulled up to the window, the drink was handed to me politely, and I appreciated that. But as I waited for the sandwich, the employee loudly said to the entire staff, "You all need to work faster. This woman is in a hurry." Several workers laughed at his comment. At that point I was shocked. I am not someone who complains or causes problems. I usually give people grace because everyone has bad days. But the level of rudeness and disrespect I experienced here was unbelievable. Because of how the staff behaved, I did not feel comfortable trusting the food or drink. We ended up throwing everything away and driving to another Starbucks to reorder because I honestly could not be sure where the rudeness would stop or if the food had been tampered with. I have already contacted corporate and was told I would hear back from a district manager. I really hope this is addressed, because this kind of treatment is not acceptable. read more

Perhaps the most egregious customer treatment I've ever seen in my life. November 6, 2025 was the release of the holiday starbucks merchandise. The big ticket item was the glass bear cup. I arrived there at 4:00AM, and when I got to the door there were already 2 people waiting there for the store to open at 5am. I got to talking to them, and they said they'd been there since 2:30AM in hopes to get one of the bear cups for their mom for Christmas. They had already scoped out the shelves and could clearly see two of the bears in the front room on display. We all stood out there together talking, as the crowd grew until 4:55AM when one of the workers walked up to the front and grabbed both of the bears and took them to the back. When we got inside, the people in front of me looked at the shelf where the bears were and took their time trying to figure out what their plan b should be, as it looked like they weren't going to get what they'd come for. I was the first to interact with the worker at the counter, so I asked "I wanted to know if y'all had any of the bears in stock." Her reply: "We only got one in and we already sold it to the person in the drive thru." There's a part of me that can understand one of the workers wanting one of the bears for themselves, but even if that's the case, to sell the one remaining bear to the person who's waited in the drive thru in a warm car for 5 minutes (if you even actually sold that one at all) INSTEAD OF THE PERSON WHO'S BEEN WAITING OUT IN THE COLD FOR 2 1/2 HOURS?! I came a little before 11am on a Monday hoping to get the new strawberry cake pops. I didn't see it in the glass display, but asked the girl at the register about it. She asked another worker and they told me they had run out and it had been a limited edition type thing for the summer. I was sad but decided to get a birthday cake cake pop as well as the new mango dragonfruit refresher. It was good! It was sweet without lemonade, although I wouldn't mind trying the two mixed together. I don't frequent this Starbucks much since there's one much closer to my house. This was my second visit. I'm always amazed at how much space they have in there! It looks small from the outside, but there are tons of tables and couches to sit and study at. You can also sit outside! They even have a drive thru! Parking isn't that bad here either. You can always park over near the other shops if you can't find space immediately near it. I'm posting an amazing review on here because they went above and beyond for me. We went yesterday and got my daughter a bacon Gouda sandwich and me a coffee. We got to we're we were going and the sandwich had mold on the bun. I called and was told that we could come back either yesterday or today. Yes yes please. Starbucks is definitely the Chick Fil A of coffee. They know exactly what their doing and make the best coffee I've had by far. The experience is perfectly crafted from top to bottom, from the smartphone app to the In store ordering process. This place is definitely something to behold. This is one of my go to Starbucks when I'm out and about. The location is convenient for me, but it's really not a convenient store to get in-and-out of. You really kind of have to know what direction you're going and how best to get into it and out of it. It's easier to get in to if you're headed east on Shelbyville Road or north on Hurstburne. They have a drive-through and their parking lot is fairly small, so if you park nearby you can get blocked in by the drive through back-up during peak hours. But, there's extra parking out back and out to the side of the Starbucks, so if you're going in, and the drive-through is crowded, I would suggest parking out further and walking. I would also suggest driving around the side, down towards the furniture store out back and taking one of the exits on to Hurstbourne headed north so that you can get across traffic if you need to either a head south on Hurstbourne or back east on Shelbyville Road. I know this is all very confusing and, it really is kind of a cluster of a parking lot situation, however the service at this Starbucks is great! They get absolutely slammed and still manage to get orders out quickly! I place more mobile orders here and never have to wait for them. They're always accurate and made well. And I've even had Baristas give me tips on how to save money there. The women's restroom is always clean. The sink in it, however, is a little jenky. They don't have a lot of water pressure in there. When I picked up a mobile order of two tall hot drinks, the girl in the drive-thru did not make sure the lid was secure when she handed it to me. The very hot drink dumped onto my bare legs (I was wearing shorts) and scalded my inner thighs. The girl did not even apologize to me. She handed me some napkins and said she'd remake the drink. I was in tears, it hurt so much! Shortly after, as the shock wore off, I tried calling the store to speak to a manager and it took 4 tries. The first two calls, no one answered. The third call was picked up on one ring and then hung up. The fourth call I spoke with some young woman claiming to be a manager. She clearly did not listen to me when I told her what happened and asked her to tell the drive-thru girl to apologize in such events. All she said was "it's clearly our fault" or something to that effect. It was clear she was not paying attention to a word I said. The 800 customer service representative was much better about listening and actually doing something to see this doesn't happen again at this store. I'd hate for anyone else to suffer the same injury and callousness. read more

This is a perfectly fine Starbucks. But it is like an optical illusion sitting there at the corner of Hurstbourne and Shelbyville. Oh, I'll just pop in for a latte on the way to work. Oh, no. There's no popping. Lord help you if you try to make a left turn into the parking lot during rush hour. Even if you are turning right, you need to turn in way back by the carpet store or else you have missed it. If you work in the vicinity, you might think you could walk, but you would be mistaken. Hurstbourne and Shelbyville is the land where the sidewalks end and there is always a car in the cross walk. It looks so bloody convenient, but it's just not. In their defense. If you make it to the counter or the drive thru, the staff is quick and efficient and will have you caffeinated and on your way in no time. But only as far as their parking lot. I come here every morning before work and the staff is, for the most part, friendly. My drinks are always as I ordered them but my breakfast sandwiches, on the other hand, are not. I am vegetarian so I order a Bacon & Gouda sandwich with no meat. Half the time the bacon is left on there and I have to pick it off myself. Sometimes the gouda comes off with it and I'm left with just egg and bread. The sticker on the bag even says "no meat". I'd give five stars if this wasn't an issue. read more

I don't typically write "negative" reviews about specific locations of a chain, but this Starbucks on Shelbyville and Hurstbourne has had incredibly long wait times, consistent mistakes, and subpar customer service. It's the most convenient location for my daily commutes, but I've started going out of the way to avoid this one. Most recently, I was in the drive through line for over 20 minutes with only 3 cars in front of me. When I got up to the window, they tried handing me the wrong drink 3 different times... getting me confused with other cars. Each time, I repeated my order to them, but then they would hand me someone else's drink again. Normally I would assume a new employee was learning the ropes, but it's been like this for about a year now. I know, I know. Starbucks, I've already done a review on one already. But I have to review this one because of the friendly people who are always here when I make a stop before or during work. This rests on the corner of Shelbyville Road and Hurstborne Parkway so if someone ever got short with me, then I would totally understand because they're almost always busy. Because I am so use to Heine Bros Coffee I always have to order an extra shot, or three or four, in my venti iced caramel macchiato, venti white iced mocha or holiday seasonal. The first time I did this, the lady flinched for a second and said "So you want 6 shots?!?" I didn't blink and said hell yeah! I'm an addict and I need my fix, yo! Since then I've been coming back at least once a pay period and occasionally get told that they missed me, it's like "Cheers" you wanna go where everyone knows your name (or in this case, coffee order)! It's a great experience and not just your average, walk up, order and leave/sit down kinda deal. These baristas care about the customer and it shows during each visit. Even when I was a bad kid and smoked at the table outside with my coworkers they kindly tell us we have to go elsewhere and we obliged (in our defense we didn't see the no smoking sign because one of them set their purse down over it!). Even the drive-thru is quick and efficient, more so than most other places. This location has it together and I actually look forward to my experience every time I go, hell some days I come here on lunch simply because I'm having a bad day and the coffee, plus employees really brighten my day! If your caffeine meter is ever running low and you're in the neighborhood then this place is worth the wait. I agree that the parking lot and traffic pattern is a nightmare and since Starbucks had some say in placing this shop here, I think they could have considered a better situation. However, I love the interior of this place. Being a corner store, it has interesting angles that allow for more seclusive conversation away from the buzzing counter. They also have a meeting room for a small group, conference style. I ordered my usual Americano in a mug. It was just fine though I prefer local and independent businesses. As you probably have heard, Starbucks over-roasts their beans. I knew that going into the store but it was convenient place to meet a friend. Sadly, my friend discovered that drive-thru orders get filled first. Though she was the only one at the counter, six drive-thru orders where filled before hers. Maybe this is due to the limited and difficult traffic flow but it is not right. The store was fairly clean but not what I expect from Starbucks, as another reviewer noted, there were crumbs, napkins, and pastry bags left out on the tables/chairs even though they seemed well-staffed and it was a quiet time of the day for a coffee shop. read more
