I'm going to give this location 5 stars because of the excellent service it provides. Last night I was in a car accident on the George Washington Bridge on the way into NYC. The rear driver side of my car was severely damaged. The accident was NOT my fault as I was hit from behind by someone not paying attention to what was happening in front of her - but that's another story. So I am in this accident and am now going to be late for dinner where I'm meeting my girlfriend. So fortunately since my car is still drivable, I make my way to the Upper East Side and park in front of this Starbucks on 1st Avenue as it was the first available space I could find. Flash forward to the next morning at 8:30 am. I go to my car to move it before paid parking kicks in. As I'm pulling out of the space one of the women who work at Starbucks comes running out and stops me. She says: "Did that damage just happen to you? If so we would have it on camera for you." Note that I hadn't gone into the business so the woman had nothing to gain by doing this other than just being a kind and good person. Trying to help out her fellow human being who had obviously just suffered real damage to his car. I was extremely touched and thanked her, noting of course that the damage hadn't happened there but rather the previous evening. Later in the day I returned to the Starbucks because it was extremely hot and I needed a cold drink. Unfortunately the worker from the morning wasn't there anymore as I would have liked to personally thank her for her earlier kindness. But nevertheless everyone who was working was extremely nice, thorough and efficient at that their jobs. I appreciated it. I was actually the second customer in line when I arrived. The person in front of me was an elderly man who needed some extra assistance from staff. They were very accommodating to him. He was obviously a regular because the woman working the register knew his name before he said it and she knew his favorite items without having to be asked. It was so so refreshing to see. They didn't have to do any of this. So yes, I would highly recommend coming to this particular Starbucks just for their staff alone. They all deserve raises and large tips for everything they do! read more

Really need to update and give this location a better review. Seating is decent but can be a bit crowded at times especially early mornings and around noon when the kids from the nearby school piles in during lunch time. Friendly and efficient counter staff. Clean bathroom and good wifi. Outlets available. read more

Starbucks can't be beat. This one is located at 1st Avenue and East 90th Street. Lately I'm trying lots of different coffee places to avoid boredom. There's one thing I know for sure: If I want a good cup of coffee at a reasonable price, and close to home, there's always a Starbucks nearby. Sometimes I get in a little walk getting there! This location isn't far. I was heading this way to the East River one day so I stopped in. Service was fine plus early in the morning it's clean. If you live nearby give them a chance. You can sit inside with proof of vaccination. The inside seating and atmosphere is great. The reviews are improving lately....... read more

This Starbucks location always has excellent customer service and staff always welcomes anyone coming in or leaving. It's the little things in life! As busy as this location can get from all the WFHomers, the moms in strollers grabbing their morning coffee and cake pops, and customers like me who every now and again will treat myself a double smoked bacon egg and cheese sandwich, the staff is always excited to welcome you in. I'm here for it! Everyone is so nice! The only downside is sometimes I'll order the sandwich and they'll be out, that tells me that the supply chains can't or won't handle demand. read more

This was a really bad experience. I ordered my drink, but it did not taste right. When I saw them making it, it looked like they stuck their hands in my drink with no gloves. Also, the cake pop was not good. It tasted very moist, and it was not like a regular Starbucks cake pop. I'm never going back. I feel like I wasted all my money. Walked into this store and was greeted by the barista. The store could have used a quick sweep and wipe on the tables and all of their table chargers were down which was sad because my phone dying. BUT!! They were swift and quick with my order and made our drinks right (strawberry açaí light ice and matcha lemonade). The banana nut loaf was soft and they asked if i wanted it warmed. The unicorn cake pop my daughter had was so sweeeet but soft and fresh. Ambiance was nice. We sat in for dining and noticed a lot of people coming in. If you have a small dog I've seen people do a mobile pick up and walk in with them. Would come here again since it's close to the 90th street NYC Ferry stop. read more

Never coming to this one again. Sometimes the service is fine, one too many times they've gotten the drink, order, wrong, or don't bother to call when it's ready. The last straw was I order a peppermint mocha, it didn't taste quite right, I asked the guy if there was mocha in it, and he said, yes, I tried it again, and I asked if he was sure, and again, he said yes. he had me doubting myself, but by the time I was done, I could tell there was no mocha flavoring because there's always remnants of the syrup when you get to the bottom and this had none. I hate to sound like a Ken but I only occasionally splurge for an eight dollar coffee and when I do, it's really disappointing to learn that I wasted my money. read more

I wish I loved this Starbucks but I don't. It's convenient so unfortunately I still go to it. They are often out of cold brew and often mess up on drink orders. The lone star goes to the nice female barista who actually makes the effort to get to know your name. Most don't bother to ask your name(although they DO to some other customers. Wonder what the difference is between the other customers and myself--I've been going at least three times a week). Half-assed effort results in a half-ass drink. This is the tall sized Frappuccino I received, only 70% full, missing the cookie crumble on top. I'll be going elsewhere from now on. read more

I adore Starbucks but this location is consistently the worst - which is a shame as I live close-by. I think they need to smudge some sage to dispel all the negative energy. The place, despite recent renovations, is as dirty as ever. The staff seem like they would rather be anywhere else. If your mobile order says your drink will be ready in 1-4 minutes, rest assured it will take at least 10. They also almost always mess up my drink and make it poorly. Ugh. I'll probably still keep going as I hear the mermaid siren call when I walk by. But I'd recommend any other location if you have the time to go elsewhere. read more

Service and lack of seating is really depressing here. Where's my sandwich? "I don't do reheating but I'll check". My barista served his good friend before me even though he came after me. Tables dirty just sad ambiance. I guess they need more staff. A few months later: Well it's been a few months and walking home the only Starbucks so I made the mistake to stop by. The only customer they were "closing" but it did not appear closed and no hours posted at the door. They asked me what I wanted then stared at me to tell me a minute later they were in the process of closing and therefore I could not purchase a small iced coffee. Ok may I use the restroom " we are really not supposed to since we are closing" he replied. I said I would be updating my review he said "go ahead then". I've been coming to this Starbucks for 5+ years and never really had a bad experience, so I'm surprised by all the negative reviews. This location does get busy at peak times, so you might have to wait a few minutes - either in line or for your mobile order - but it's never been an unreasonable amount of time. I've always found the employees friendly, professional, and willing to help if there's an issue with my order. It's a small location with a good amount of seating. Do not go here on the Weekends as the Employees have an IDGAF attitude and can not make coffee or drinks the way you want them to be made. I ordered an Iced Caramel Macchiato as I usually do. The guy who was at the Barista looked High and out of it. He literally just pours whole milk over Ice and then hands me the drink. I look at him and then explain what I ordered. He then yells at me Thats what it is NIGGA. the woman at the register then snickers trying not to laugh. I tell him no its not, their is no caramel or coffee/espresso in the drink he shrugs and then just walks away. I study at Starbucks probably 5 day a week. This is part of the Starbucks review series. Overall: 4/5 tl;dr: This is a sunny Starbucks (due to the large storefront windows), with ample of space, couches, and outlets to go around. ---- LAYOUT: The store faces W onto 1st Ave at the corner of 90th and 1st. There are two stone bar tables and a small lounge area with two sofas on the side that faces 1st. This is generally very sunny because of the wide storefront windows. A row of couches down the N and the E side of the store, and a few tables scattered throughout. Should be able to comfortably seat 30 to 40. STAFF: The staff here has always been pretty friendly and pleasant. They sometimes will try really hard to shoo you out the door when it's getting close to closing tie though. CROWD: I think the crowdedness of this SB varies a lot. I've came into this store around 2 when it's mostly empty only to have it fill up completely an hour or two later. Likewise, I've also been here at 2 and had to stand around for a bit waiting for a seat to open up (this has only happened twice?) The nights here (around dinnertime) are super quiet. BATHROOM: On the NE corner of the store - fairly clean, as I think less people pass by on 1st ;) OUTLET: This is the MAJOR PLUS of this store. There are so many outlets! I usually come here when I really need an outlet and want to be guaranteed a place to plug in. There's outlets pretty much next to anywhere you can sit in the store. It runs down the line of couches, and there's an outlet at both bars that look out onto 1st. read more

I work close by the 90th street location so I frequent this store daily. The employees are always so kind and warm whenever I come in. Even though they have hundreds of customers everyday they still take the effort to try and know their customers and make every visit really pleasant. I was really surprised that they even remembered my name! The barista Tatianna specifically goes out of her way to ask me how my days going, greets me by my name when I walk in and makes amazing menu suggestions. The whole barista staff at this location is so lovely and makes my day a little bit more positive. Super grateful for this team. :) read more

Was in NY for work and vacation.. I stayed at courtyard Marriot on upper east side! I am a big coffee person and especially love to go and grab some time at Starbucks and hot cappuccino.. Luckily found one near the hotel.. I liked this Starbucks for its comfy couch.. Just good to chill and relax there at the end of the day.. I remember being at this Starbucks on some minor holiday when the other local cafes were not open. It was busy and the barista didn't know why. So I told him. "I went to two of my other regular coffee shops and they were both closed, so now I'm here." The end. read more

Tried to order ice coffee with caramel sauce and syrup. But couldn't remember the word for the sauce part and stood at the counter pondering for a few moment. The guy taking my order was giving me a " can you finish ur fxucking order ?!" look. Another lady who is not familiar with Starbucks didn't tell the cashier to add milk to her sweeten iced coffee and asked the barista why their is no milk and is it sweeten? The female barista just froze and then said out loud "hey *** this is your fault u didn't write on the cup " then the cashier just told the lady seriously "" miss you have to say it while u take the order". And the lady had to apologize to end the conversation. What kind of conversation was that?!. The employees here also chats with each other and laugh out loud sometime which was kind of annoying. This Starbucks is such a shit show. Every time I go in it's like no one can get the order straight and follow simple instructions and communication. It's really such an ordeal to get a cup of coffee and a snack. The last three times I have come in the dude taking my order remembers to tell me they're all out of what I ordered as I'm about to pay then getting my actual coffee is another story. Slow order out, inconcistent with product quality- some days latte has no coffee in it, they serve "regular" customer ahead of the line, for how long I came there try never cared to spell my name right. They discuss the products off date using words "what's that @, jut replace with the @ from the other fridge (literal)" etc.. They chat about matters NOT related to their job infront of customers. I come for coffee because is nearest to my work location and I have been customer of Starbucks for over 15 years now and all around the world. Seen some bad an great service and those guys fall in a first category. Needs re-training stuff and EQUAL attention and meet greets to ALL customers. Need to address about basic manners and what the job is about. The team except maybe 1,2 ppl does NOT fit into Starbucks conception. Urgently needs another barista - big lady by the counter is NOT up her job and is very slow, "whatever", sleepy and inattentive. It's pretty busy in the morning since it's rush hour. They were out of very berry and realized this after paying. I waited for 5 min till the barrista told me they ran out. She was able to give me a full refund along with another drink of my choice. I suppose she seen me struggling with picking a drink since i don't order nothing more. I ask her if i can use the free drink another day and she gladly said yes and even encourage me to get a drink. I couldn't resist the offer! I left with a full refund, a free drink and a gift card to use another day. Great customer service if you ask me ! read more

Not sure why this spot has bad reviews, I don't normally review Starbucks, but when I do it's because the staff kills it. I ordered a smoked butterscotch latte w coconut milk and the guy took his time and made the foam ridiculously thick and warm, without burning it. Was it slower than usual? Sure, but the barista here is a REAL barista, not normally found at Starbucks, this guy should be working at a bespoke coffee shop. Unfortunately, receipt doesn't have his name, but he's the shorter of the two male baristas. Well done SB for putting great baristas at a badly rated spot. read more

"Baristas"--this word is being thrown around far too liberally as the job title of this establishment's employees. When I know details about your lesbian partner...that's a problem, "barista". When I know that you just dumped your psycho girlfriend and she's texting you "like CRAAAAZY, son!!"....that's a problem, "barista". When I hear the word "f*ckery" being damn near yelled in a crowded coffee shop....that's a f*cking problem, "barista". In particular, there is a short Black female employee here who has absolutely no concept of volume and proceeds to speak/bark in an assortment of accents ranging from ghetto british, to wise-crackin Hispanic. Chill son...chill. ::Getting on my soap box:: As a minority myself, I am disgusted that most of the unbearable employees here are either Black or Hispanic. One upside is that this Starbucks got rid of a previous employee who sang show tunes that drowned out the Michael Buble (spl chk) being played in the background. She would also selectively jack up the volume when one of her "jams" came on and would then proceed to dance around with a broom in her hand like she was Cinderella...sit your crooning a** down because this is not an American Idol audition. They have great pumpkin spice lattes and banana walnut bread though...just saying. read more

The staff is really friendly. Like, REALLY friendly. Upgrade to Venti for no reason friendly. It's not necessarily the best study spot because it can get a little bit crowded and loud on weekends and weeknights, but I'm easily distracted. Pretty sure their bathroom is closed to customers, but that's of course a hot-button issue right now and may change in the near future. read more
