I really like this Starbucks! It's conveniently located near 94 (At Gratiot and Masonic) so you can get on/off the freeway with your drink with ease. I typically mobile order here before work and I've never had my drink wrong or had a long wait. Employees have always been kind and welcoming, always saying hello to anyone walking in. Yesterday, I went inside to work. The person in front of me didn't know what she wanted so the barista asked her a few questions and gave her some recommendations of what she should try. I really liked that! The line was long but the barista still made the effort to have that customer connection. I ordered a tall iced vanilla latte and it came out quickly with enough flavor and ice. Let me first say that the staff was kind, accommodating and even pronounced my name correctly. Very upbeat team and efficient. On the flip side, when dining in, spare your ear drums! The music is unbearably loud especially at 8:15am. I wanted to sit and have a cup of coffee with my breakfast sandwich but the music blared so loud and the staff along with customers had to shout over the music. You can't think, study or concentrate. Zero exaggeration when I say you'll wait in the drive thru for 20-30 minutes. I have tried to give them chances time and time again all receiving the same exact wait time. The bubbly lady that is always the one taking orders is a gem. But that doesn't make up for the wait. Note to self and all others: drive an extra 5 whole minutes and you'll get your coffee faster. Matter of fact, I think you can hit 3 other locations in the time that you'd get to place your order, pay and drive away. Now, if you prefer the snail to turtle like speed, this is your place! This location has the best service out of all the locations I've been too!! I was suffering from a pretty awful head cold a few days ago and I needed hot tea BAD! I pulled up to the drive-thru and was greeted with the sweetest voice asking me what I would like and how my day was going. I felt like I was talking to a nanny or a fairy godmother. I do have to admit it's a great location near shopping and close to the freeway I like the fact they have a drive thru but it seems to me that there frequently out of certain drink syrup and food items on the menu and that gets aggravating especially when you go out of your way to have a signature Starbucks item and they never have it. It's hit or miss when it comes to the employees sometimes you will get an overly happy in a creepy way employee and then the next time you go they will be so rude it seems like they don't even want to be there. This Starbucks tarnishes the excellent reputation Starbucks has built. Two out of five times my drink is wrong. This is a problem seeing how I just paid $4.00 for a tall drink or $5 for a grande and I purchased it through the Drive Thru on my way to work. I don't have time to go back and allow them to rectify the situation. They should've made it right the first time! On top of their inability to make my drink- which by the way is straight off the menu- I don't even customize it- their customer service is not what one would expect from SB. I've received attitude, a "Just pull up to the window" rudely stated and also have had the barista make the coffee drinks for the 6 people after me before making mine. I used to frequent this location daily. I have decided its worth it to drive out of my way to get a my coffee correctly made elsewhere. If I forget to order ahead, I usually just swing through the drive thru. I've had great experiences with the baristas who work the drive thru. They are friendly through the speaker when taking your order, will make recommendations for you and help to ensure you get everything you're looking for. There have been many times that I have stopped here before work to get my fix of caffeine. I have always loved Starbucks. This place has quick service and they always warm pastries that are meant to be warmed even without asking which I think makes it more "homey", in my mind. I enjoy coming to this Starbucks for that. Sometimes though from previous visits, some of the staff appears a little stressed or unhappy. This hasn't happened recently but times in the past I do recall this. This isn't the reason I'm giving this 4 stars. I am giving 4 stars because, there have been numerous amounts of times that I have had a drink made and it was wrong. I also one time requested almond milk, and got non-fat milk. I could only imagine what would happen to someone that is very lactose intolerant. Or vise versa with a nut allergy. I visit this location just occasionally but I've always received excellent customer service! This morning I stopped to use a gift card I had received for Christmas. I handed the barista my card for my sandwich and macchiato and he returned the card to me and let me know that the card was inactive. He must have noticed the confused look on my face because he asked me right away if it was a gift. I told him it was and he offered to cover my Macchiato as a courtesy. How sweet!
