The staff was incredibly friendly and made my drink exactly the way I requested it. The store was clean, the restroom was well maintained, and the overall experience was excellent. This is a nice Starbucks to come to when in Montecito or Santa Barbara passing thru. It is right off the freeway and their order to pick up is very easy. If you like to sit, they have seating inside and outside. I used to study or people watch in the evenings. Our orders are usually quick and my daughter loves a toasted bagel with cream cheese. Not a great outing to this Starbucks yesterday evening. After an afternoon in Goleta / Isla Vista, we weren't ready to go home yet. Dear Hubby suggested getting a cold drink at a Starbucks, and hanging out for a bit. We thought about potential venues in Santa Barbara, and didn't have success, even driving down State Street from Upper State all the way to the beach. We did note that State was full of tourists and locals as the afternoon waned, which was good to see. We'll have to check out all the new businesses on the area south of the 101 soon. We were considering heading to Ventura, but DH noted that there was a patio area on one whole side of the Montecito Starbucks. He went inside to order, while I scoped out a table. Apparently, they were short-staffed on a busy day, because the trash can was overflowing, and every single table on the patio was dirty. Not just dusty, but with rings of sticky gooey leftover memories of Frappucinos past. I went inside in search of napkins and water to clean one myself. They don't offer a water dispenser or pitcher of water. I grabbed napkins and asked DH to add a water to whatever else he was ordering. He didn't realize that it was for the table. I couldn't get water from the restrooms at that time, as both were occupied. Once a cup of ice water became available, I doused the table and wiped up the previous goo. That led to noticing how much debris was left on the ground in the patio area, as well. The whole exterior needed some attention from the cleanliness patrol. An outdoor stay at this location includes lots of ambient freeway noise, as the 101 runs beside Coast Village Road. We were treated to a long Amtrak train heading south on the far side of the freeway. Busy travel corridor! I would say that this is not the most restful Starbucks venue. It was a shame to see it lacking for attention to cleaning on this last stop. read more

There is a customer service rep who works at this location who goes out of their way to be unfriendly. Not sure if it is just part of their core personality to be miserable and unfriendly to paying customers who frequent their establishment or if they single out certain individuals. I went through my old stomping grounds in Santa Barbara today. This Starbucks has always been and still is my favorite. If you're coming from the south, it's right before the downtown area, which if you know anything about State Street, it is always crowded and hard to navigate. Here, in a small, well-kept strip this Starbucks is visible from the street and has tons of available parking for you to find as a traveler or local alike. Insight, it's very comfortable. There are big and small tables, clean gender neutral bathrooms, and free wifi. It's a perfect for a study space as well as offers someone time to study Google maps a bit before hitting the road. The service here is always friendly and ready to help. They have a full range of caffeinated drinks and munchables. I'm always in the mood for their chai tea and my husband loves trying their coffee specials and baked goods. You always get your drinks and food quickly but you're never rushed to leave. Last, this place is spotless. Once someone is up, that table is cleaned almost immediately. I almost feel like I shouldn't share this little gem of a place as it might become too popular. If you're nearing SB, need some stretch time, a restroom break, and something delicious to eat and drink, stop in. You'll love the experience. read more

Worst Starbucks ever. Was driving up to Pismo Beach for a wedding a few weekends ago. Decided to stop at this Starbucks since it was so convenient to the 101. BIG mistake. The ordering system and baristas were overwhelmed with a long line of customers waiting to be served, combined with a ton of to-go orders for people who used the mobile app. Our order got lost in the shuffle. After about 10 minutes I asked the barista if our order was in the works. Without looking, he responded "It will be ready soon..." I asked again 5 minutes later -- same answer, but still no mochas. After we waited a total of 20 minutes for our two mochas, I asked the barista (who was completely overwhelmed the whole time) what happened to our mochas. He said he didn't know, there was no order for them. He then went ahead and made our drinks for us even though he couldn't find our order. Finally, 25 minutes after we placed our order, we got our mochas. We're never, ever going to this Starbucks again. read more

The supervisor on duty spoke to me in such a cruel and unkind way in front of others that I left this location embarrassed and in tears. I came an hour late because of a work emergency and asked if it wasn't any trouble, if they would reheat my food item for me. I mentioned that I understood if it wasn't possible because my late arrival wasn't their fault. The girl who helped me at first was very kind and offered to remake it. However the supervisor soon interjected and proceeded to loudly lecture me about the inconvenience I was causing him in front of other customers. I understand that the employees are likely hounded by similar requests on a daily basis and it can get frustrating. This Store overtime has consistently become the worst customer experience for four reasons. 1. Order Accuracy I order the same simple coffee item every day, And they get it wrong 4/10. It doesn't sound like much, but if your time is money it's very frustrating. 2. Homeless The sanitary conditions of the homeless, deliver pathogens into the enclosed conditions such as a store. They refuse to wear a mask and to add insult to injury they occupy the only outlets with electricity. Battista To Cashier Communication Today I asked the Barista after she got my order wrong again, where is the disconnect today, did the cashier transfer the correct order and you delivered incorrectly or what? As far as Starbucks go, this one is a good one! We always stop through here after having Mollie's for lunch on our way up to our family vacation.
