This has been one of my best starbucks experiences, and I've been to many starbucks. The customer service was amazing. The barista took the time to explain every single tea to me, and other baristas, who were busy working, even happily told me their favorite teas. They spelled my name correctly, which is very rare. In addition, the barista gave me the extra tea that had been made for my brew. They made my day in Santa Barbara that much better! I ordered two Trenta iced coffee's for caramel syrup and extra almond milk in my coffee and my husband's coffee tasted horrible so I came back to get more extra almond milk which I was charged 2.45. If I'm ordering my drink with extra almond milk and you're going to charge me it's how about you just don't burn the crap out of your coffee so it's drinkable in the first place. I'm spending eight dollars just for my coffee and now I have to spend an extra 245 because you guys don't know how to not burn coffee and make it taste good awesome. DISCUSTING BATHROOMS! Your had one toilet was closed July 28th as their was human feces piled up in the toilet (I looked). I went again today and it was stilled closed - absolutely disgusting. But to make matters worse, at 8:30 this morning, July 31st, your other one bathroom was equally as disgusting! Human hair, LOTS of it, and human feces on the floor. A LARGE trashcan absolutely full, extremely dirty sink and toilet, and nobody seems to care? Where is your manager? Sleeping! How can your staff care when your manager doesn't? This is a HEALTH CONCERN and I will be reporting it. Worse than any cheap gas station toilet. Your manager needs to be replaced immediately! Should make everyone reading this concerned for the hygiene of the staff when making food and drinks. The place must be a walking petri dish. 2.5 stars to be fair. Anyway, the staff here is fantastic. I think just about every barista/partner I have encountered has been friendly (not in the overbearing way) and courteous. There is adequate seating but could definitely use more as this is the only location in the Montecito/East Beach area. Frankly, my issue here is the fact that I think this place is terribly managed. They ALWAYS seem to be understaffed. Every single time I enter there is ALWAYS a line for both the register AND waiting for drinks to be made, if it be 8am, 1pm or 4pm. I don't understand why they don't meet the need of the customers and employ more people/have more people on the floor at all times. Also, the tables (both indoor and out) are always covered with crumbs and debris. This leads me to believe that they are always so slammed at the bar/register that no one can afford the time to tidy the rest of the shop. Born and raised in Seattle, I am a coffee snob so I try to patronize independent coffee shops. That being said, there is something to be said about the familiar chain! (Free drip refills while I am sitting and doing work/reading doesn't hurt, either). Hire more people/staff up your register and bar! There is clearly the demand at this location to put an extra person or two on the floor. Bottom line: I shouldn't have to wait for 5-9 minutes to order and have my drink ready. But this Starbucks is different and while every other Starbucks in the world would probably get a three this one gets a four. Let me explain: It's not for the service, in fact the girl who gave me my coffee was kind of rude. The coffee and the pastries look like any other Starbucks so no extra points there. It is the people watching! Wow! The place is packed and it is full of a very diverse and amazingly entertaining group of people. Think people who are staying at the Biltmore for a bachelorette party having their coffee before they jump on a fancy wine tasting bus. A few Westmont students, some CEO of some company, an old guy who is always there, a few assorted crazy people and maybe a celebrity or two. Some think that they are privileged and seem to be annoyed to be waiting for their coffee with all the common folks. So if you are REALLY reading Yelp to find out if Starbucks is a good place to go for a cup of coffee, go there (or come here since I am sitting here now.) You will certainly be amused. excellent amount of sitting room, right in the fancy neighborhood of Montecito, where you never know what celeb you might/will see. They have very friendly staff, and the line moves fairly quickly. I enjoyed their free wifi and ample seating. Perfect for a student/group of students studying for their next big test or for a group who just finished dinner to decompress on their comfy couches and enjoy a nice latte or chai tea. love it! read more

This is the place I go whenever I need to get some homework done. The baristas are always nice and take the time to know your name. The drinks are made to perfection, and they are happy to remake anything you are not satisfied with. Many people come here to study and get work done. As a student I like this because it's relatively quiet inside since everyone is working on their own things. As well, the baristas are not yelling back and forth at each other, something I have found issue with at other coffee shops. The one thing that drops a star is how crowded it is. Almost all of the tables are filled the entire time. I've rarely had an issue finding a spot, however, as people seem to filter in and out regularly. Overall, I would recommend! read more

The line in this store is in an interesting spot. No big deal, I just thought it was awkward. the first thing I noticed was the lobby, it was huge. I've never seen so many tables and seats in a Starbucks. I like it! I ordered my drink as a barista stocked the cold case. I understand how swamped the Resturant industry can get at times, I'm a server and bartender myself. I completely get that Starbucks gets crowded and the employees work very hard. However the over populated crowd, rush or in the weeds as we call it was not going on when I went into this Starbucks. I experienced terrible customer service when I asked them to mix it up they simply said they can't put milk in a blender. Clearly they didn't understand what I was asking because I didn't want it blended, just mixed in together. The Latino man with the goatee completely ignored me and said I'll give you a cup to skate it in. "Old school way." I said.... Ok. Looking around as if I was on the show punked. Is this a joke?? Two Words: Study Spot Out of all the Starbucks in Santa Barbara, this one is my favorite! I accidentally ordered a chai latte(I meant to order a brewed chai tea), and without any hesitation they changed my order. They did not give me any attitude (unlike at SOME Starbucks location). Sometimes, there is a long line, but I find that common at most of their locations. However, I must note that they try their best to get the line moving along. This is a great study spot because there are plenty of tables. There are even comfortable chairs and tables outside. I always find parking - there is a 2 hour limit. The last four years in Santa Barbara have been filled with late night papers and early morning exams. This starbucks helped me through each one. What a great environment and the partners working there are amazing! Coffee is quality, environment is great, and staff is friendly -- what more could you ask? Unfortunately, because it relies on Westmont College for a lot of its customers and even employees, the turnover in employees can seem a bit high. But it manages to stay high quality despite the constant adjustments. Supposedly there is a huge revamp coming soon! I'm excited to see it. read more

Love these guys. Especially considering how swamped they can be, they're always very professional and pleasant. I'm in there A LOT, and whenever they actually get a chance to breathe, they definitely recognize you and acknowledge you in one way or another. Very friendly and personable. They're also very on top of their customer service element. I've been in there a couple times when I've asked for a food item that they were currently out of, and whoever was helping me was quick to suggest some similar items I might have an interest in and also offered to discount a more expensive replacement item to the price of the item I originally asked for. The store is also very clean (as are the restrooms) and they have a very nice outdoor patio area. Definitely my favorite local coffee stop! read more

I've been making the drive from LA to SB enough to know for me, I'd rather take the 118 and drive a little further than sit in traffic for that same amount of time. And this Starbucks is my perfect reward when I make it halfway through my journey. I've stopped here a handful of times, and ice never been disappointed. The line is usually pretty short, but they are able to get through people quickly when a line does form. The place is always clean, and the baristas are friendly. I've read some of the reviews of this place and it says it's full of friendly people... but seriously who did I murder? Because I received one of the ugliest stares by a barista ever. Mind you, I arrived around 6:30 AM; after an hour of driving I stopped in to order something to wake me up. When I ordered my drink I ordered my usual (Iced coffee w/ 2 add shots) and the barista replied, but I didn't hear her well. When I replied with something else she corrected me and I apologized... But she didnt hear my apology because she gave me a mad stare and acted as though my mistake killed her favorite uncle. I was hoping I'd receive the friendly environment that reviewers have written about but I was unfortunate to have committed some sort of a heinous crime beforehand. Normally I'll let things like this roll but when someone makes you feel uncomfortable so early in the morning one has to say something. Even the cashier was unfriendly to me. Next time I hope to receive the service everyone else writes about. I really dig places with awesome service. read more

First I anticipated a really good drink and quick service. However, this was not the case. My drink order got messed up and I felt no sense of urgency with the two girls making the drinks. When my drink was made the girl who made it left it off to the side and after two people who orderd their drink after me get there's, I asked them how much longer? They gave me a blank stare and when the girl who made it said its ready did she hand me my drink. After one sip, there was way too much chocolate for a grande size cup.
