Stopped by on our way home from Santa Cruz as it had a drive-through (unlike establishments in Santa Cruz), then decided to park and go inside. We ordered sandwiches and cake pops and cold drinks (it was a warm day) - I was curious about the newly added Ube coconut macchiato so ordered a grande. Service was friendly and fast. My drink was overly sweet, but it was good to sip something on the hour long drive home. Will stick to my usual matcha latte going forward. read more

Ordered through the app and went through the drive-thru to pick it up. Right away, we were met with a rude staff member who complained that we came to pick up the drinks too early and tried "explaining" how the app works, saying it tells you when to pick up the order. They also kept mentioning that 10 other orders had just come in, seemingly to make us feel bad for using the drive-thru after ordering, even though our pickup time was only 3 minutes away. The interaction felt unnecessarily hostile and unprofessional. read more

We instantly felt welcomed walking into the spacious cafe with the staff's friendly greetings. They were quick to make my orders and even thoughtfully came out to my table to clarify something. There were plenty of decently sized tables spaced far apart so that each party had a little bit of privacy. This is one of my favorite locations to hang out at. Note: The cups are paper, even for cold drinks, and so are the straws. I'm not sure about hot drinks, but the cups get soggy with cold drinks. Bringing a personal cup or dine in would avoid this problem. read more

The ambience is very nice. The people are very friendly and very nice. This is like my go to spot in Scotts Valley and they're always really great. The food's good too and the service is not super quick, but however, the drive-through line it's actually quicker than normal. read more

Incredibly rude staff. We ordered a cake pop and even though it was right there in front of us, they took forever to deliver. After asking for it multiple times, they said it's misplaced and was very unapologetic and rude. Doesn't even offer the receipts, staff runs away after receiving the payment! Just bought a venti iced matcha latte, and the cup is packed with ice -- filled almost to the lid. It feels like you're paying mostly for ice rather than the drink itself. My breakfast was awful! I ordered a meal to be delivered by DoorDash, I ordered a bacon, sausage, cheese & potato wrap, I received a potato burrito! It was nasty! Plus I ordered a "Tall" café latte, I received what I consider to be a small (12oz) cup of warm milk! there is no way there was any expresso added! 800th review. There are three branches of Starbucks on the Mt. Hermon road and this is one of them. I like this branch better because all the people who work here are very sweet, just like my chai tea latte. Yes, I am one of those people that likes to drink their tea in the morning. I really like this Starbucks because it has the best staff I ever met. Managed to drop them a small tip. The baristas who work here are very friendly. They are very patient and always greeting you with a smile. Like the people in the area they are locals as well and are very friendly to travelers who are taking a break. This Starbucks is so much bigger than every branch near my flat. I don't see why some people are having a hard time but this place is awesome. After you finish your breakfast they have some really neat places to shop. I would come here again. read more

Make sure you tip or they will take twice as long for your order. The employees chit chat and sometimes there will be a long line and there is no customer service. They're nice folks, doing their best, but this is the slowest coffee place in town. Go to the Coffee Cat across the street for MUCH better food and drinks and like a quarter the wait time. I absolutely love Starbucks to start with. Being an extremely picky person regarding my drinks, I have to tell you that there's 3 Starbucks on Mt Herman Rd. Out of the 3, two of them, including this one, truly listens about how I want my drink made. The other one on Mt Herman is inside the Safeway Store. They go out of their way every single time and I highly recommend these two of the three because they care. It's more than excellent customer service, but personal experience goes a long way. A huge shout out to Julia, and the rest there too!!! I had a rough day & they made it go away. Thank you guy's so much for the caring & personality that turned my frown upside down!! This is one of three starbucks borg collective locations in scott's valley this one being set apart by a more then usually pleasant seating area and at least one barista that hates me. Parking is not an issue. That strip mall surface lot will never fill up even on the busiest days, so parking close is no issue, assuming that you are okay with the occasional light assisted U-turn necessary to get back to the road you need to be on. There is also a bus stop more or less right in front as well if that helps any. This is one of the larger starbucks in the area with plenty of seating to chose from, even if it is short on plushy chairs to lounge in. The décor is better then your average starbucks as well-there are some nice murals inside. Alas onevery visit I've made to this spot the dining area looks cluttered and the tables can be sticky at times. Not all that big a deal really but not exactly ideal either. I've never had an issue ordering and the pereparation is much faster then other close by starbucks, but that's where all the good news ends on my visits. While I've no issue with the peeps taking my money the baristas making and handing off the coffee's are ....well they are lest then zestfully jolly shall we say. Any attempt at conversation -not asking for things mind you -my efforts were along the lines of "hey thanks for the coffee" are met with eye rolls, glares and the occasional rough handling of my order. The first two times I though it was a personal thing-maybe I remind someone of their ex or something-but no all customers seem to get the treatment. I'm not sure why this is. You could assume that if someone hates the job/dealing with the public that much they'd move on to something else so it seems as though something else is going on behind the scenes. No idea what/why but be ready for some severe cold shoulder when getting a drink here. So. A starbucks with better then average décor, worse then average cleanliness and staff that treat you like you are stealing coffee from a orphanage. Pleasant store and clean enough. Three stars for the following reasons 1) girl at the counter did not check my id when I gave her my credit card (which says please check id in huge letters on the back) and did not give me a receipt (or ask me if I wanted one)... sweet the brush off. she did not go to extra mile to ask individuals if they wanted whip cream or not on their mocha... for some this may not be a big deal-- but unless you are a Starbucks junkie...people need to be reminded that some of the drink items automatically come with whip cream (this will come to my next point)-- this is a part of customer service and it keeps your partner (bartista) happy. 2) the barista was quick enough, but "messed up" two orders in a row (based off the whip cream-- people not wanting it in their beverage). In trying to take the whip cream out she spilled on the serving counter and on the outside of the cup.... one of the girls who didn't want whip looked like she was going to have a bitch fit-- and was totally disgusted at the idea of having two cups and 1/4 of her drink on the counter.... the other was "in a hurry." My drink was decent (although it came after two orders after me). average experience... nothing spectacular read more

I hate to do it but I have to give this place a 2-3 rating. Service is so important. It is thanksgiving and my coffee maker broke literally YESTERDAY (must be timed for Black Friday sales!) so I woke up at 530 on thanksgiving expecting 10 guests at my home for brunch at 1030 am. Knowing I had no coffee and 10 guests I left my home at 6 am to my local Starbucks to place an order and prepay one single travel order of coffee. Knowing it's a holiday, I made sure to go in early - all they have to do is pour coffee into a box but I wanted to give them time. I set my pick up time at 10 am. The girl that helped me at 6 am was super super helpful and nice and said I was smart by putting my order in early as they would likely be packed at 10 am. So at 10 am I arrive to Starbucks and they actually aren't packed, almost a ghost town. So I tell the girl at the counter in here to pick up my coffee. She made a snide remark about how early I am (look at my watch and it's 10 am on the dot-- ok....) she continues to make remarks to me (while I constantly reassure her "it's totally fine take your time!!!!! Seriously no rush!") about how it's almost ready, I'm early for pick up and so fourth until it gets to be slightly uncomfortable- imagine being on time to something and someone keeps making comments about how early you are - I counted 4 before I stopped caring. THEN She then hit a button on her register that showed actual time notifying her I'm not actually early BUT ON TIME (This is after her 4th comment about how early I am- I said wow I'm on time that's weird did I mark my pick up time wrong?)- but then she made it a big deal that I was there to pick it up. Again- I can't stress this enough-- I used to work in the service Industry so to me, it wasn't a big deal I kept vocalizing that it's totally fine. But she kept telling me to hold my horses - it was awkward. I kept telling her take your time I have no where to be. No biggie. She continuously made remarks that this was such a big deal. It was weird. She finally had it ready (she was super huffy about it's finally ready! Insert a lot more comments to her coworkers in front of me) - but instead of handing it to me like normal, she had me come around the counter to grab it so I had to walk around the display to get the bag (again super awkward especially because there were maybe 5 other customers in the store, and NONE IN LINE). "It's over here walk around the display to get it" (again super weird!!) Apparently my "rush coffee job" was so stressful she put the creamer in the bag wonky that tipped over and wonky which then spilled in my car. First off- service workers- I salute you! Working on a holiday sucks balls seriously. I hate it. Which is why I gave a $10 tip (you all didn't even notice that) and was super cool- like I kept telling the blonde chick helping me- I'm in no rush just relax it's fine. There was zero rush on that box of coffee- like I repeated to an awkward point over and over again BUT honestly Starbucks has mediocre coffee at best your customers go in for service or a smile. There was zero pressure on that girl and her loud, obnoxious, and repetitive comments were unnecessary and uncalled for. I've been frequenting this local coffee house enough to get the vibe, but I'm getting inconsistent experiences. Sometimes it is 5 stars and other times it is 2 stars. I'm hoping I can get it sorted out, ie. do I love the place or is it just meh okay. There are some folks there that really care, and go out of their way to make my experience special. And there are some folks that seem to go out of their way to make my experience awkward at best. Just the other day I was getting my star bucks reward "gold card" free refill. And I asked for the cold brew ice coffee. The gal asked if that is what I had initially ordered. When I asked her if that was a rule for refills only getting what was initially ordered, she said no it wasn't a rule but this local starbucks was wanting to enforce it as a rule? Weird, I had checked the free refills perk and it didn't state anything about only getting refills of the original drink ordered? I've had other negative comments when getting refills, it is almost like they are trying to discourage refills. Then their was the time I sat outside with friends enjoying our coffee, and the music was so loud we could not hear each other talk. My one friend asked them to turn the music to a tolerable roar and they quickly obliged by switching the music off. Again awkward. But don't get me wrong, I've had yummy drinks there and cheerful happy service. I met a barista there that shared with me that her favorite drink was the cold brew coffee, how it was made and its flavors and features. It is now one of my favorite drinks at Starbucks. I truly enjoy going to this starbucks but I am getting mixed experiences. I may just talk to the manager and get things sorted out with my complaints, I want to love this place! This was happened on 05/23/19 around 8.30am. My friend and I were getting coffee for all our friends. My friend was waiting for the orders but I would like to add one more drink so I went in line again then I heard a young lady barista with a very long hair yelled at my friend like how many shots? How many shots? Very loud and rude. After ordering, I went over there and asked my friend what's wrong? My friend told me that she saw the barista forgot to put double shots of espresso on her drink but she put iced coffee in there instead. She's trying to tell her so she won't waste it. She's not listening but yelling back at her like Your order is coming!!! Then she gave my friend a wrong order and got upset and asked her how many shots of espresso very aggressively like 3-4 times! The manager saw that and came in like let me deal with it and we thought she's gonna help but not she was yelling even louder like how many shots? And not trying to ask my friend what happened! Jeez was it my friends fault? Was it a big deal to get what we ordered? Why you guys don't look at the ticket???? And when we tried to tell you, you didn't even want to listen and got upset???? The manager asked are you guys ok? Then we didn't want to make it a big deal even tho I'm a bit upset. So I said yes we're ok. Then again the manager asked what are you guys waiting for?duh??? Today, I came in for a drink. It was fine until I moved my mask briefly while waiting for my drink, 10 feet away from anyone. I was rudely shouted at by a barista, "put on your mask ! " and i did. There was no politeness or courtesy at all. I obeyed, even as a young kid at the counter was not wearing his mask. I told his dad to make his kid put his mask on, too. The barista said nothing to dad with his kid. Just me. Before you lecture me on health codes, remember I was rudely treated by a pusillanimous, self-important nobody. I get that this COVID is a hassle, but customers deserve respect and courtesy. When this pandemic ends, I will recall how I was singled-out and embarrassed needlessly. I will also remember how I was spoken to, as a child, by a 18-year old when I was finally handed my drink. At which point, I will not come back. I have a hunch I will not be alone. This is a good Starbucks and most of the staff is wonderful, but I've had multiple interactions with the manager where I leave feeling really unhappy and disrespected. I've witnessed her reprimand staff on the floor in front of multiple customers. I've waited 10 minutes for my mobile order that is sitting on the other side of the counter and she doesn't make eye contact or acknowledge anyone. Then, today is very busy and I understand so I'm waiting patiently but I hear her call my name out and my drink order so I walk up to the counter and confirm my name and she very sassily snapped at me "Hold on, we're working on it". I normally love this place, but lately, I've found myself a bit frustrated with the customer service. I ordered, and paid for a venti. The manager made me a grande. When I mentioned that I ordered a venti, she acted irritated, and asked if I wanted her to remake it. No, I want to pay for a venti and get a grande, and deal with you being rude about it lady... I about went back to the tip jar and pulled mine back out, but the register person was sweet. When they did remake it, I told them I was okay with them pouring what was in the grande cup into the venti cup, and the girl gave a snarky laugh, did that, then added just more milk. I come here to relax, and generally everyone is giving off positive energy. When there is nobody at the register, the manager is quite loud, and often makes snide comments about other employees (as do some other employees). Hearing all this negativity isn't relaxing, and it certainly isn't professional. They seem to have a high turnover rate, and I can't help but think that this is why. All that said, it does get pretty crowded, the music is at a talkable level, but dims out some background noise, the seating is pretty substantial. They keep it clean for the most part. I work about a block away from this SB so I tend to come in fairly regularly. Yesterday morning I walked in and ordered an almond milk latte, it took ALMOST 40 MINUTES FOR THEM TO MAKE IT!!! Not only did it take forever, but I had to ask the girl taking orders AND the interrupt the barista to ask how long it was gonna take to make mine. These ladies were so slammed with the mobile app orders that they completely pushed all the walking orders a half an hour behind. If you go to this Starbucks during any type of morning hour, make sure you use your mobile app or you'll spend half the morning waiting for your drink.
