Review #073 - 2016 After driving to Monterey for two hours and spending a few hours with my friends, I was ready to hit the road and head back to the Bay Area. But before I could muster up the courage to fight the brutal commute back home, I decided to search for the nearest Starbucks with a drive-thru. This location is about a ten minutes drive from my friends' workplace so I made my way over. It's conveniently located before the freeway entrance, which already earns it a few extra stars. I showed up around 4:30 PM so the drive-thru wasn't crowded. There were two other cars ahead of me. I ordered my usual, a venti iced caramel macchiato. Yes, the location is convenient off the highway. But the time it takes you to get your drink (whether inside or drive thru) is incredibly inconvenient. Given that the parking lot is the smallest in the history of ever, and the fact that there's usually 1-2 cars trying to turn into it (jamming up the main highway from the corner), you would think they would figure out how to be more efficient (hire extra baristas in the morning). Instead, you have to wait an absurd amount of time (20 minutes and counting) to 'grab' your coffee. Slowest. Service. Ever. If you have an extra half hour to kill to grab your already overpriced corporate caffeine in the morning, then this is your place. read more

My Venti Iced Black Coffee was lovely but the drive thru situation, wow I don't think they thought it through before crewating the little joint. If you can't whip it around the building after you pay then you are stuck taking a right towards the ocean and have to flip an illegal U-ey by the hotel/entrance to Seaside beach. This Starbucks has a drive-thru and the baristas inside are super friendly. I recently came in to this Starbucks while meeting an old friend and is please with the friendliness of the people whom works here. It was 9:00pm and they're still very jolly and upbeat. This place is super clean as well. They have few tables inside which are good for studying and there's outside seating for those warm days or nights. Beyond frustrated this morning. On the mobile app stores say if they are not available for mobile pick-up. It seems as if the concept of mobile pick up is not clear to this location. I was running late and placed my order on teh app about 8 minutes before I was set to arrive so if I had to wait it would only be a moment. When I got there the lobby was closed, it was 8:30 AM, not a odd hour for a coffee shop to be open. I had to go through the drive-thru to get my mobile order. What is the point of a mobile pick-up if you have to wait an additional 10 minutes in the drive thru for your now cold order? I would have just waited and ordered at the drive thru so my order would be warm. My chai tea was basically just warm milk and they were SO rude. read more

Terrible service! Terrible location! When you order a decaf coffee and you (Starbucks) don't have decaf brewed you offer an americano and charge me for a coffee. I shouldn't have to pay for an americano if it is your fault that you don't have any decaf brewed! The guy at the front taking my order sucked! I could be wrong, but it seems that any time I review someplace as "good" the next time I go it's almost as if they're determined to prove me wrong. Granted, I make fun of the ten sentence drink order people, but I wouldn't consider Quad grande caramel macchiato to be overly uppity. It's a pretty simple order to make, four shots, a couple squirts of whatever is in the jumbo tubs, milk, caramel. Today, it came as an entire glass of espresso, two drops of milk.... and a lid. I suppose I should have known it was off when the side of the cup wasn't smeared with caramel as it normally is. It must be difficult to squirt in a cup? My recommendation... if you're going to go to this Starbucks, hit it between 6 and 715'ish'. By 11 they seem to forget how to do things. Lines move more slowly and the homeless dude (any of them... I think they have a union and rotate each day) is far more intent on getting your change. ....maybe, if you didn't smoke you'd have more cash for living. (yes. yes, I'm an insensitive jerk. The drive through is no good. Every time I've used the drive through, something has gone wrong. - Wrong drink twice - Waited for 5 minutes at the window for the rest of the food we ordered, and some computer problems (they we swamped at the time though) - Frappuccino that's pretty much all liquid, and a pile of caramel at the bottom The inside seems to be fine though. With the half marathon clogging up my usual Starbucks on Cannery Row, I begrudgingly made my way over to the drive-thru Starbucks in Seaside. (It may have been out of the way, but I wasn't about to darken the doors of Starbucks in the Del Monte Center--the worst on the Peninsula.) I ordered by usual chai latte and it wasn't terrible, though inexplicably my "extra hot" chai was colder than the latte I also ordered. What irked me more, however, was the wait time: it took forrrrrrrrrrrever to get our drinks. I find this is typical for drive-thru Starbucks--if you're walking in, your orders always takes longer than in a standard, walk-in Starbucks. This is highly unusual considering drive-thru drinks are placed in a separate queue, but it's true at every drive-thru Starbucks I've experienced. I tell you, it's a downright mystery of the universe. This Starbucks is good when others are inaccessible, and I do appreciate their relatively late-night hours. But with its microscopic parking lot--that's always full--and spiraling wait-time for drinks, you might want to skip this Starbucks if possible. read more

24 hour drive thru!!! Woot! However there are downsides: It's too bad this Starbucks is squeezed on an itsy-bitsy piece of land on the corner, because they hardly have any parking spots, and the line for the drive-thru can only get so long before you have to give up and move on because there's no room. And typically they're sloooow - it's faster to skip the drive thru, and instead park and run in (if there's a spot). On the flip side though, if you don't feel like getting out of your car, it's great And if you need something at 3am, you're set. And I've always found the staff to be super friendly. read more

This is my go to Starbucks. The only drawback to this location is the parking situation. That needs work, but I am not docking any stars. I usually end up parking next door at Mcdonalds and walking over. The service here is friendly and they make consistently good drinks even when I have five modifications. They are also a funny crew and regularly make me laugh when I am ordering in the drive thru. read more

I have been going to this Starbucks since it opened on an almost daily basis. The service and the drinks are hit and miss. I visit at about 6:30 am so there is a wait in the drive through that can reach up to 15 minutes. Another issue is that they are frequently out of either foods or ingredients for drinks. Lately, for about the last 6 months, the only time that my drink is prepared correctly when two particular employees are working. Cheyenne is one of them and the other is a tall man with facial hair (sorry...I forgot your name. I am always greeted cheerfully by both of these employees and it makes my day start happy. Today was even much better than my usual visit. When I arrived there was only one person in line. I made my order and had to wait about 1-2 minutes for the person ahead of me to be done. When I pulled up I saw that my order was already done and as I was ready to hand them my payment I was told that the register had just crashed. Instead of making me wait several minutes while it rebooted my order was comped instead of being thrown out. What a fabulous way to start a Monday morning!! read more

Well, they can make their typical Starbucks coffees. They've got that down. I'm a coffee snob; I'll admit it. And some may not agree that it's fair to rate a place on if they can make a traditional espresso drink. Cutting to the chase - I've ordered countless espresso macchiatos here. And have been served just as many variations. It's one of the easiest to make, oy. It's not like anyone will read this before heading there.. the convenience of drive through still makes me laugh... but it's a spontaneous trip for most. In any case - this place is busy enough during commute times and lunch that I would never even bother anyways. Even the drive through is crawling... when the speakers and their headsets work... Frustrating. On the upside - the folks that work here are plenty friendly. They've got that going for them too. But why order the average corporate coffee when ol'factory cafe, bad ass coffee and acme roasting co. are all a stone's throw away? (but don't throw anything at those acme guys - they're highly caffeinated and looking for a brawl I bet, ha!) Skip this place. Move on; anything's better. read more

For Starbucks fans in the Monterey, CA area, this Starbucks is a must go. I had a coffee run late at night and saw that Starbucks was still open. I haven't been to a Starbucks for the longest time and can honestly say, I'm not a huge Starbucks user. So, when I do go, it's definitely an adventure for me when I step up to the counter to order. The choices! What to do?!!! I was unfortunate enough to have the opportunity to receive some amazing service, especially when it was that late. I went through the drive-thru window. What a pleasant surprise to me when the voice on the other end asked me "Hello. How can I help you tonight?" I know, it's nothing unusual. That's pretty routine with any place you go to, but it was great to hear that especially after a long day of driving from San Luis Obispo. Anyways, she helped my gf and I with great suggestions. We couldn't decide on what to order, but she was really helpful and patient with us. At the end, we got a great cup of hot mocha and tea. When I got to the window to pay, the gal greeted us with a huge smile and some "southern hospitality". It's no wonder the service was so great. Wasn't the worst starbucks ever but certainly not the best. The location is right on the corner and the parking lot is really small so be careful parking. Bums around the place but they look like they kept to themselves. The customer service wasn't great. Just sat my drink down and didn't tell me it was ready. Had others waiting and asking of their drinks. My drink was made poorly as well. All the syrup in my white mocha was at the bottom of the cup so as I drank it it got incresingly worse. I must say that I have ALWAYS been dissappointed with my drinks when I come here. Can't quite figure out why I keep coming back. Everytime I come to this Starbucks they never make my drinks correctly, I mean how hard is it to sweeten a tea?! Such a dissappointment for being one of the few drive-thru Starbucks in the area! Let's just say that I have learned my lesson after the 10+ drink mistakes they have made, I will no longer be coming here anymore. I went to this location because it has a drive thru, it's only positive attributed apparently. I never drink coffee, and if I do I rarely go out and purchase a cup. My friend had highly recommended a pumpkin spice latte, and he's a huge Navy guy with 3 huge dogs. I thought I'd finally see what all the hype was about since this hulking man had no shame recommending a PSL and ordering it regularly. I went during their BOGO, and tried ordering a PSL and their new honey and almond hot chocolate (both with whipped cream on the top and bottom). I was told that they didn't have such a thing, even though I was staring at the Starbucks website advertising it. Fine, whatever, if they don't know about it they probably won't make it right anyway. So I ordered a toffee nut latte instead. I was told the total was over $9, so I asked about the BOGO deal. Maybe I was mistaken? No, the PSL wasn't on the holiday drink list (it was) after a little muttering on the other end of the intercom, she corrected herself and told me the toffee nut latte wasn't a part of the holiday list. Again, I'm staring at the drink list on the Starbucks website. I was pretty embarrassed and anxious at this point, so when she suggested another drink I just agreed to it. So I pulled up and paid, then listened to the girls talking to each other and watched one of them make my drinks. The cherry on top of this experience was when this girl said "the whipped cream just floated to the top so what was the point?" I usually order cold blended drinks so that didn't even cross my mind. The second drink was made and she made the same comment. That was pretty much the most embarrassing service experience I've had in a very long time. I can't go back to that location again. She didn't smile, didn't talk-just shoved the drink into my hand (with half sliding down the side of the cup) and though she quickly wiped her hand off, she didn't offer any napkins or anything! I came here the other day and turned off of Del Monte Blvd. into the parking lot heading for the drive-thru. I had to back up some and approachre the drive-thru as it's so narrow and I have an SUV. As I approached the intercom to place a order, instead of greeting me and helping me with my order, the guy said "you came through the exit and that is why you had to back up" I said "I'm sorry what?" because I couldn't really hear him and he practically yelled it again. I was shocked at how incredibly rude he was. Not a hello, welcome to Starbucks, nothing. So I pulled around to the the window and told the lady "To be such a rude condescending person to me when I am new to the area, there are no singes on the street saying it's not an entrance, and to treat me so poorly just lost you business. From the fact you have time to watch cameras or whatnot and there is no line at all, your crappy attitudes are probably why there is no business." and I left. This is just a review on today's experience because I rarely come to this location, let alone go inside. I'm standing at the register ordering and the blender must have lost its lid because all of a sudden I have frappuccino all over me, even IN my eye! I'm covered in frappuccino and nobody offered me a napkin, an apology, a free drink.. nothing! Finally the girl making the fraps turned and said "oh sorry", like no big deal, nonchalant. I had to tell the cashier I needed napkins. Poor customer service.. I get mistakes happen and that was kind of a crazy mistake to happen but employees should at least pretend to care that their drink just flew across and splattered all over another customer. read more
