I do recommend going first thing in the morning. We went first thing in the morning and waited no longer than 5 minutes. Need souvenirs to take back home? This location offers many cups and accessories not sold at any other starbucks location. Make sure to pick up a bag of pikes roast coffee which is signature to this location. Even though it was crazy crowded inside, the staff seemed to be very efficient. 4 stars because the coffee isn't anything different or remarkable. read more

This Starbucks is almost always under-equipped and under-staffed for the number of customers: expect a 20 minute wait between the line and the single person often making drinks for 40 people. There are plenty of other coffee shops (including more Starbucks) in the vicinity. I'd also add that they brag about having built it out of recycled materials, in spite of the fact that they stripped out an existing coffee Seattle's Best to move in the "recycled" interior. read more

I seriously dont know how many stars i should be giving this place but ill give it a special 5 because it is the first starbucks that was open in the united states and in the world! This place is nothing like your average starbucks. It's tourist season in Seattle as SB fans flock to Pikes Place trying to get into the original store. We passed by and the line had a ridiculous line with over 30 persons out the street. It's like a cult. After being up since 2 AM, I needed a caffeine fix at 3 PM to keep my eyes open. We were not willing to stand in that line after walking all day. So we headed out of Pikes Place and up the street to the SB on 1st and Pine, a couple of blocks away. This place is spacious and we got to sit in these 2 big leather couches. They were a bit worn but comfy. Even the line to get coffee was long here but not 30 feet deep. There is a lot of seating. I got a latte and Hubby got a vented Pikes Place Reserve. I had a sip of his and it was good but I wasn't blown over by it. Their selection of mugs, cups, thermos differ from the 1St store. They do have the Washington state ceramic tumblers and I was here Seattle and Washington State mugs. Don't miss a chance to visit the original Starbucks, even if you're not a huge coffee drinker - it is so cool to see what can be started by one person with a good idea (and a lot of caffeine). Don't let the long line fool 'ya. It moves quickly thanks to helpful and pleasant staff who must have been specifically chosen for this location as they seem to relish all its hustle and bustle. If you haven't tried a Clover, Starbucks French press machine, do yourself a kindness and check one out. My clover coffee (Isla Flores) was so good I barely put any milk or sugar in it. read more

When I drove by here the first time, I (and perhaps many others) might have mistaken it for the first Starbucks location. I discovered today that I was wrong. Nevertheless, i needed my coffee, and after peeking my head into 1912 and checking out the first location, I headed here for a good cup of coffee. Five stars because, though it's the same stuff you can get at almost any Starbucks anywhere in the country, the service was indeed quite excellent. The baristas were friendly, helpful, and willing to converse beyond the simple, "What do you want??" Always a plus. The location has ample seating, "for here" cups that are easy to see and therefore a popular item (no one likes to waste if they have the time to stay in), ample seating, a comfortable atmosphere, and Clover brewing machines! It's really nice to have a freshly brewed cup of tea, and those Clover devices are really something neat. Five stars is a lot, but the service and the quality of the location merit it in this case. read more

One word and that word is " CLOVER " and to even make that a better word, is AGED SUMATRA, made in the Clover machine if you know anything about Sumatra then Aged Sumatra is the Sh*t in my eyes and IMO, I love Aged Sumatra, which is only available every 5-6 years so I am loving it, and I almost missed it as they are only selling it @ stores with the Clover Machine Aged Sumatra is what gives the Anniversary Blend its Nutty Flavor go and try it you wont regret it unless you are just a hater of Starbucks, then by all means stay away and leave more for me read more

This was the 1st time I'd been to this location. It's a really large location and it was super packed. Met up here for the Seattle Savor Tour. Stood in line to get a drink but it was sooo long and slow that I wasn't able to get one before the tour started. We got a small sample cup of caramel apple spice. The interior looks similar to the original store on Pike Place but on a much larger scale. There are a few outdoor seats and lot of seats inside, the most I've seen in any location. Free Wi-Fi naturally, and some power outlets by the booths. I love these older stores! read more

This Starbucks is cute. I like it's ambiance and design way more than any other Starbucks I've been to. For one - it's in Seattle and even though it's not the Starbucks headquarters/founding one (that one is down the street but I imagine a lot of people come to this one thinking it is the first one since it is also by the Pike Market). It's much bigger than most Starbucks. It has lots of seating for folks to work or sit in groups. They push reusable mugs - so a lot of people are drinking out of a mug instead of a paper cup. They use a big chalkboard to write their drinks instead of the typical Starbucks signs that you see in all Starbucks. It has a lot more personality let's say. It feels like a local coffee shop versus a large chain. Staff is friendly as usual. Only complaint is wish they had more vegan options for food (pastries, donuts, etc.) They are strict about letting you use the bathroom if you are not a customer fyi. We had a lot to drink the night before. It caused some of us to climb random bulldozers on the street, do semi-cartwheels in our hotel hallway, and order food really late at night only to fall asleep while waiting for it. If you add these antics together plus very little sleep minus hydration from smartwater, you get a HANGOVER. Fast forward to the next morning and after having afternoon tea, I knew I needed coffee RIGHT NOW. Though we are not huge coffee drinkers, our eyes were out of focus and all we could think about was a nice hot cup of coffee! And when in Seattle, do as the Starbuckians do and head to the FIRST Starbucks EVER! Too bad we thought THIS was the first starbucks, when it really was a block away. Boohoo!!! The line here is quite long but moves quickly because the people here are very efficient and work as fast as they can. While they are preparing drinks, they call out to all customers and thank them for waiting and let them know that our drinks are on the way. I think that's a very kind gesture. Their menu is a little different here, I think this is the real deal Starbucks menu without all the fluffy fraps. The store decor is a little different and more open, it doesn't look like your typical cookie cutter Starbucks. In fact, you hardly see anything green in here! It's all brown and seems very industrial and the layout was very open. I thought it was very cool! The wait for our coffee was quite long and they came at different times, but I know it was really busy here. It was also comforting to taste the familiar taste of Starbucks coffee here but made correctly. This is a must see, but don't get bamboozled :( read more

OMG. You have to have a Clover Machine brewed cup of coffee IN A CERAMIC CUP. Sit, sip and enjoy. No sugar, no creme. Straight up. More notes than wine. I had the Ethiopian Yrgachef and it was awesome. I ruined the coffee the 2nd time thinking it would be great with a cookie, but the sweetness hid all the notes of the brew. There are only a few places that have this and so i recommend trying it. BTW, this is NOT the original Starbucks. read more

But, Starbucks employees have never given me the stink eye when I ask for drip, and the "Big Evil" that they work for makes them partners and will provide them with benefits (mom and pops, where's your health plans?). Many tourist mistake this 102 Pike Street Starbucks to be the original 1912 Pike Place Starbucks across the street. The original Starbucks is along Pike Place around the bend of the market, and is most noticeable during the day. In the evenings people turn to this Pike Street Starbucks for their late night caffeine fix, since it's open until 9/9:30 every night .... Although this Pike Street Starbucks is not the original, it is likely the busiest store in the state. Don't quote me on that I'm just guessing, but I'm most likely right.... There is a wall adjacent to the bar that is lined with coffee decor including burlaps, and roasters. The bar itself is elongated and nearly twice as large as any Starbucks coffee bar I've seen. The shop is packed throughout all times of the day, and the wifi is pretty fast. Whether you're looking for a place to study or meet up with people, this huge Starbucks accommodates with abnormally large tables. I'm not sure if this store trains many new baristas, since all of the baristas I've seen work here through the years remain for quite a while. They're some of the best Starbucks baristas in the city. I don't think they've ever messed up a drink order of mine. Not sure why it's taken me so long to write this review, but definitely 5 stars. read more

Other that having unique merchandise (like special tee-shirts and mugs) highlighting this being the original Starbucks location, you are going to get the same coffee and service you find in all other locations. Although I love that the decode hasn't changed at all in all of these years and there are still old wood-plank flooring. Gives the place a more comfortable and casual feel, appropriate for Pikes Place. If only they had a clover press like they door around the corner. read more

I am a Starbucks junkie but this review is specific to the Pike Place location. This is the original Starbucks location and is very busy because of that and its great location in a high traffic tourist area of Seattle. Inside they have Clover machines for the special brews, large tables for studying or groups, along with big leather chairs, outdoor seating and my favorite, the bar and stools facing Pike Place Market. You can sit there and watch the people come and go. With all the tourist here it can get very busy. If you want faster service there are Starbucks on just about every other block in downtown Seattle. read more

The location was open to provide wait time relief for the original store (denoted with plaque on front). This larger store was placed in mind to accommodate long lines that snake towards one of two doors. There was a long line but not any worse than any other Starbucks. Line was quick to move. Staff wasn't friendly nor unpleasant. Rather determined to move patrons. Store sells products found at the other Starbucks. Good: Quick orders. Bad: None. Overall decent stop. Nothing remarkable. This Starbucks had some very very interesting people inside here today. A lady was talking to herself and continuously slamming her drink on the table, while screaming at all the customers. Everyone was extremely uncomfortable and just looking around waiting for a manager to do something. It took about 15 minutes until a manager finally came over and asked the lady to leave.
