Storyville Coffee is one of those places that makes you want to slow down and enjoy the moment. Hidden away on the upper levels of Pike Place Market, it has a cozy, rustic charm that feels like a peaceful retreat from the busy market below. The coffee was excellent, and the baked goods were fresh and delicious. There are several different seating areas, each with its own character, making it a great place whether you're catching up with friends, getting some work done, or simply relaxing with a good cup of coffee. One of the highlights is the beautiful view overlooking Pike Place Market. It's the perfect place to sit for a while, sip your coffee, and take in one of Seattle's most iconic locations. The staff were warm, welcoming, and genuinely friendly, adding to the overall experience. Between the outstanding coffee, inviting atmosphere, scenic views, and wonderful service, Storyville Coffee has become one of my favorite cafés in Seattle. I'll definitely be back. read more

I went to both locations today and here is my summary: Coffee: 5/5 Ambient:5/5 Food: 5/5 Value: 2/5 First thing you likely will notice as you enter is the menu with expensive price tag. Probably the most expensive I have seen. Almost 60-70% more expensive than the best coffee shops in San Francisco. I ordered the cappuccino and a breakfast sandwich with pesto sauce coming up to ~$30. Cappuccino itself was $8.5 and with plant base milk it would go above $10 so you can imagine paying $12 for a cap including tax and tips. insane Coffee itself was really good tho. It has this nice beautiful chocolatey color from their medium roast and temperature was perfect. Breakfast sandwich was a delight. I loved it. Ambient is nice in both of their location and staff are friendly I would have given it a 5star and only taking one off because I don't think they up charge is justified. read more

There's a few locations but I specifically chose this one because it was close to Pikes Place but just far enough to not be SO crowded. The workers were extremely friendly and helped make recommendations to my indecisive self. Their flavored lattes and dirty chai sounded delicious but it was really hot that day and I just felt like drinking something simple. I ordered the cold brew and it didn't disappoint! Overall, I thought the prices were steep for coffee but I got a free mug for being a first time customer and signing up for the email distro list. Storyville will always hold a special place in my heart- it was the first Seattle coffee I fell in love with when I moved here over a decade ago. I was so happy to see the first Ave open... sad to see in close... confused to see it rebrand as some other space-themed shop... and then happy to see it return to Storyville a short time ago. Their strange coffee hours has made it difficult, but after making it in FINALLY, I have to say I will not be back. Service was amazing, but a small cappuccino costs $8.50, and for those unfortunately dairy-incompatible, oat milk is another $1.50. Pre-tip, an 8oz cup was $11.10, and had I not gone so out of my way I would have walked out. And yet they're still pushing free mugs. It breaks my heart, but this is absolutely ludicrous pricing. I visited this coffee shop because it was right across the street from the hotel where I stayed! They had a QR code near the entrance for a "little gift" and my boyfriend and I completed it and showed the baristas. They gave us both Storyville mugs which were beautiful and such an amazing souvenir! We then looked at the menu to order a nice latte. I had initially wanted to order their cashew milk latte, but they told me that was only sold at the location in Pike Market. So, I ordered their salted caramel latte in the 8 oz size and waited at their bar seating. The ambience inside the coffee shop was so calm in the morning and was a lovely start to a busy day! The barista brought my latte to me and a cup of water as well, which was such a kind gesture! When I drank my first sip, I fell in love with my drink! This was our go-to coffee shop when my husband and I were still going in the office in DT Seattle. Now, it's more of a bi-annual indulgence since the prices have gone up. We usually order the latte with housemade cashew milk and housemade salted caramel syrup. When we went back to this specific location for the first time in years, they said they do not have the housemade milk at this location anymore. They only have it at the Pike Place location. The latte we got was just with oat milk and their housemade syrup. It was yummy, but not as good as it would have been with the housemade milk. Next time, I'll probably skip this place and just go to the Pike Place location. read more

This review is a month overdue. Long story short, I was staying at the hotel across the street, where I heard that they had the best cinnamon rolls in the city. When I got there, they were out of them, but promised to save one for me the next day. When I showed up the next day, they told me that that it would be 10 minutes as they were making a fresh batch just for me. I went on a walk, promising to come back. When I didn't come back right away, Emanuel went across the street looking for me at the hotel. He left word with the staff that he had my cinnamon roll for me. When I got back to Storyville, he greeted me like an old friend and had my cinnamon roll ready for me. I believe that the other staff member was named Annalise, and she was lovely as well. This location is no good! Don't be fooled by the old pictures of this place. This simply cannot be storyville anymore. The signage inside says futurebean. I saw no true espresso machines after placing my order. No one grinding beans. It's just a basic push button machine making the espresso and then someone steaming milk and that's it. Absolutely crazy they're charging 7+ dollars for espresso drinks making espresso no better than your workplace break room. No cinnamon rolls just some pastries. False advertising. Do not come here if you want good coffee! This is truly terrible coffee. Idk how they can legally carry the name storyville here. The true storyville is up by pikes on the 2nd story. One of our last cups of coffee in Seattle before heading home, we made our way to a different Storyville coffee company location than we had been to before. We were familiar with their location in Pike Place marketplace but this one is a little bit less crowded and off the beaten path. It was walking distance from our hotel and the service was fast and friendly. I thoroughly enjoyed my oat milk salted caramel latte while my husband enjoyed his classic black Americano. You can tell that they use a high-quality coffee bean and every beverage comes out to perfection. The space itself is small, but we found a window seat to look out on the boulevard and enjoy some people watching. read more

So, this little coffee shop was just a few blocks away from our hotel (visiting from San Antonio, Tx) We went there, mainly, because it was the only shop that opens before 8 on the weekends. What's up with that anyway? 8? Really? Anyway, our experience was so good we ended up going two days in a row. This place almost has it all. It gets an A+ for atmosphere and service. Our server was fantastic, couldn't say enough about him. I'd also recommend the breakfast sandwich. As impressive as it is they've won #1 roaster, I'm disappointed they only have one roast. I've been really into coffee for the last few years and gravitate to locally owned shops with multiple roasts. Also, they don't offer a Chemex/pour-over. Aside from just those couple disappointments, I'd still tell you to try Storyville. The latte was probably one of the smoothest I've ever had, and the French press is on point. My wife raves about their breakfast sandwiches, so Storyville fell into the must-visit for breakfast while we were in Seattle. The space is gorgeous, super clean, and laid out nicely. The shop has a very upscale finish to it, but the warmth of the place makes it very inviting, as does the staff, who were all very friendly and outgoing! The coffee is good. I only had a cortado, and it was tasty. Perfect texture and temperature to down immediately. Their house blend is very approachable and straightforward on flavor so should appeal to most coffee lovers. Developed enough to satiate your darker roast fans, and light enough to still maintain all of the sweet, chocolate/caramel notes without the bitter finish. If there's one downside or me, personally, it's that they only offer one coffee on bar. This surprised me a little after hitting so many shops and being able to order a single origin shot and a cortado with house blend everywhere else. To their credit, that just reinforces the lack of pretentiousness, and really allows them to eliminate any intimidating coffee shop vibes. Regardless, the cortado I had was expertly-prepared, so really only positives there! As for the sandwich that my wife is infatuated with? Well, that was pretty good, but maybe not "all that" on this occasion. The bread-to-filling ratio definitely favored the bread, and it was a bit too salty (what do you expect with all of that bacon!), but it was still good, and I wouldn't shy away from getting it again next time. This cup of coffee was definitely a treat. Nothing too fancy, other than the pricing, I ordered a latte as is. Their coffee was very smooth and rich, not so acidic. I was sipping on coffee this whole trip and this was the espresso drink that satisfied my cravings. The shop was petite, just some window side seating and a few small tables. This place is more of a come and enjoy a small chat over coffee, rather than come here and crank out some essays type of vibe. I am a sucker for a cute coffee shop. This place was all decorated for the holidays when I stopped in. From the Christmas tree mounted on the ceiling to other little holiday touches, the place looked nice a cozy. If you get lucky, you might even stop in on a day where you can get a free mug! Looking around, everyone had drinks and a few had pastries. Some were working on their laptops, while others were in deep conversation or stopping in for a quick hot drink with their family. You really could go here for whatever occasion, just be mindful that you may not get a chair by the window right when you walk in. Never having been in before, I took my time looking at their menu on the wall. The menu was pretty short and sweet. I ended up choosing the Hot Chocolate. The mugs the drinks come in are very cute and trendy; perfect for an instagram photo. As each drink was finished, I watched the barista do a design on each of them. The drink came out at a perfect temperature that I did not burn my tongue and was able to finish it at pretty quick pace. I didn't end up with a pastry this time but I have heard that they very good. I will be back to try one next time.. This location is pretty small and had a good amount of people in for a drink when I went in. All the bar stools were filled by the windows, as well as the chairs at the one central table. However, the standing tables were all empty so that is where I ended up. read more

When I walked into Storyville, my first thought was, "What is this?! $6 for a latte? Outrageous!" I've clearly been living in a place with a reasonable cost of living for way too long. However, I'm glad that I stayed to get a dose of caffeine before trekking back up the hill to the hotel where I was staying. The Earl Grey tea latte I ordered was sweet and delicious. For those who don't like Earl Grey, Storyville can make a tea latte in any flavor of a customer's choosing. As I was enjoying my drink while staring out the window, one of the kind baristas popped up next to me and offered me a complimentary slice of decadent ganache cake. I then looked around to see that other patrons also had plates with the gift cake, as the barista called it. A caveat is that I'm not sure if this is a regular thing for them or because it was so close to the Christmas holidays. Either way, it was a much appreciated gesture. After a wonderful first visit, I came back on our last day in Seattle with my family for coffee and a cinnamon bun. The coffee was deemed delicious by discerning husband. Everyone loved the cinnamon bun, including yours truly. I normally find cinnamon buns to be disgustingly sweet and not much else, but Storyville's version is buttery, flaky, and reminds me of a fluffier version of a palmier cookie. Service here was great during both visits. Baristas proactively brought us glasses of water without being prompted, and checked to see if we needed more. The profile of the bean itself is medium roast, very smooth and silky, no acidic flavor but was told the bean has light notes of chocolate which was enhanced with my additional chocolate flavoring.
