We were craving coffee, searched for the closest coffee shop, and happened to stumble across Makenna Coffee. I remember absolutely falling in love with their coffee and thinking, "I cannot wait until we come back this way so I can get this again!" Unfortunately, I never ended up making it back... until today! We happened to be in the area for an appointment at the Jeep dealership, and when I realized Makenna Coffee was nearby, there was NO WAY I was leaving without stopping. This was only my second time here, and somehow it was just as good as I remembered. Taylor helped me and she was such a sweetheart! I couldn't remember what I had ordered the first time, so she helped me pick out two different drinks to try -- the Sandy Blonde and the Maui Latte. I ordered them half sweet, and they were still a little sweeter than I normally prefer, but honestly, they were amazing nonetheless. I'm usually a black coffee/Americano kind of girl, but every once in a while I get a serious sweet tooth and want something fun and indulgent -- and Makenna Coffee is PERFECT for that. Their coffee is so good, and there's just something about this little spot that I've loved ever since I accidentally discovered it. I only wish I lived closer because I would definitely be here way more often. If you're ever in this area, do yourself a favor and stop at Makenna Coffee. The egg salad filling is just right for my tastebuds, and it provides protein in a fancy, delicious fashion. Today there was a hint of savory garlic on the pastry, and that added a nice flavor accent. Today's sweet pastry was an open-faced tart filled with a smooth, light chocolate base, topped with creamy custard, and then sliced pears on top. Mmm. I like the choice of pears offering a hint of the autumn season ahead. The last time we had out of town guests staying with us, we took my them to Le Herisson one morning. They fell in love with the food and the sweet, simple ambiance. The next morning, my sister-in-law got up early and went back over, bringing back a box of pastries for everyone to share. That definitely tells the story of how much everyone enjoyed the food offerings. It's a special treat to have a quality bakery like this in Simi. THE ONLY REASON I GIVE THIS STARBUCKS A FEW STARS IS BECAUSE THEY HAVE A DRIVE THROUGH. This is the slowest starbucks i have ever been to, for NO reason at all. I noticed the drive through had about 5 cars in it so being that it was 6:05am i went inside thinking i could get faster service...i was the ONLY customer inside and after i ordered waiting until 6:15 standing next to the pickup counter until someone finally asked me "what did you order" i was so frustrated and running late for work that i told them to just forget it i was running to late after wasting all that time. They didn't offer me a free drink, refund, nothing. All he said was oh ok have a nice day. read more

I don't usually write reviews but this is a special circumstance. Without paying attention, I sent my mobile order to the wrong store and went to the First and LA store to pick up a drink they didn't even have. When I got up to the window, the nice young lady, I believe her name was Cally (name tag was difficult to read), let me know she would make my drink and get my food item for me without any hesitation. I appreciate the friendly customer service and will make sure I order at the right store next time. Highly reccomend this Starbucks to my friends and family! read more

Might I suggest that when in the drive thru,and a mistake is made or people want to add tings to their order,you have them pull forward out of the drive thru to allow other people to get their coffee while it's hot.Last Sunday I was in line 30 minutes,then got the order wrong the coffee was luke warm and the food cold in the middle they didn't even leave it in the oven long enough.I just left.....It's not that hard to figure out,get the manager to sort this out,poor service.I wasn't the only one unhappy either read more
