Opened in September 2016 by Polish emigrant Kasia Lindeberg, who had spent 15 years working in a Stratford health food store. She studied nutrition, deepening her understanding of naturopathic medicine and herbs to heal both body and mind. This is a great place to come and relax, or to order to go. I thought the beef was very tasty but it lacked the chopped olive I associate with the Argentinian style. La Portena had no complaints about her spinach/mushroom version. The alfajores came in three sizes, something I did not realize when ordering. I would not repeat my order of the large size, the ratio of cookie to filling being off. The medium looked about right. The best item was a chocolate filled pastry, similar to a croissant that I had the next day. Flaky and light, it revealed some skill in the baking.

Would have loved to enjoy the hot drinks in a real cup instead of paper. Really wish drinks were placed on counter with names facing the people waiting. We had no idea our drinks were ready. On my visit, it didn't feel like a place we could relax and linger. People were waiting for seating. We felt that the rotunda shape of the building made it feel so loud, almost an echo. I do appreciate that my French Cruller had a chocolate frosting on top, but as you can see from the missing icing some of it stuck to the bag. That's why if someone were to bag my donuts I'd prefer a chocolate glaze over any kind of frosting. I like getting the complete item. Speaking of the chocolate glaze, I liked the donut. Again, not a groundbreaking donut by any means, but I would get it again. The price is good too. Ever since the station cafe started doing a $10 card minimum, I stopped going to it because I can't justify paying $10 for a coffee when I need to use cash for other things. Here, I only needed to pay $7.25 for the entire order, and it honestly made more sense for me to order enough to that amount here. The coffee is cheaper too even if you take the $10 minimum argument out entirely. Where coffee was $3.76 at the station, this one was $3.21 before tax. Yeah, if and when the Waterbury branch has difficulties staying on time, I won't mind coming here again to try more things.

My oldest daughter got an iced vanilla latte and my other two daughters ordered a chocolate and a cinnamon muffin. I later learned that they were giving 15% off for visitors visiting the convention center and because I missed that opportunity, I was instead offer an assortment of complementary danishes. I have to say my iced spiced chai latte was delicious! So go that I ordered another one in the larger size to take home. I wished all chais would taste like this. They have set the standard. It was so smooth with the amazing yummy spices you could taste, just really good. My daughters, all three had no complaints. They loved the muffins, although they said it should have been warm up, but still was very soft, moist and fresh. I wished that on my second order, the girl who rang up our order would have honored that 15% perfect off because we still made another order after finding out but she didn't and she wasn't very pleasant like the guy, so I just let it go, it was a spiritual weekend for me and I didn't want to let her irritated me. Local photography and art (available for purchase) were sprinkled on the walls. The staff was friendly. For food, I ordered the Turkey Bacon, Egg, and Cheese on gluten free bread. It was phenomenal. My friend got the avocado toast. One thing to note - the portions are large! It is incredible value for the price. I also ordered the 4th of July special the Blackberry Pie Latte. It was delicious. The blackberry and vanilla syrup combo are superb. This is a great spot to walk or bike to if you are staying in the area.

However, there is a train station parking right across. The place itself is pretty large. There is an area to order food with Menu choices written on the chalkboard behind the counter. There is seating in the front and then there's seating in the back as well as a small private room, which is not very private as there is always a group sitting in there. There is also additional seating outside and sometimes there are musicians who play to the aidience. The food itself, specially the crepes are awesome. Service is prompt and overall a good artsy vibe to the place.

I've been seeing Scratch Baking on social media quite a bit and finally had the chance to get there…read moreyesterday. It was later in the day when I went in, so some of the cases were not as full as I would imagine they are in the morning. However, I was still able to get myself a chocolate chip muffin to have for breakfast the next day. The muffin was hands down one of the best I've had! I put it in the microwave for a few seconds and enjoyed every bite! I definitely want to get back there earlier in the day and try other pastries and bakery items.
