Very nice Starbuck's. I've passed it many times. A colleague recently asked me to meet for a work meeting here. This place is crazy busy - especially the drive through. They have really nice outside seating so in the summer- this is a great place. Inside isn't huge, but I didn't have trouble finding a table. Maybe it was time of day ... 10am. Updated: I contacted Starbucks and they responded to my complaint immediately so I feel it's necessary to adjust my rating. I still had a bad experience at this store but Starbucks as a company heard my complaint and responded quickly. Original: Horrible. I ordered a cold foam cold brew thru the drive thru. It had only the barest scraping of foam on the top. They easily took 10 minutes to make this drink and a Frappuccino with 3 staff visible inside. And the caramel Frappuccino was missing the caramel! Yes, it was 8:30 and they close at 9. But that's no excuse for crappy service. I still pay full price so I should get full service. I have to give some love to my go-to suburban coffee spot. Starbucks gives such a reliable and consistent product that the people (and location) are really the only differentiators. I end up here enough that pretty much everyone that works here knows what I want - Grande Latte, 140 degrees. Recently I have created a cat and mouse game by changing up my order. Now that it's summer sometimes I will order an iced beverage and with how much studying I have been doing sometimes I will need a bit more caffeine. They know their coffee, and I can always count on a good recommendation when I am looking to switch things up. No matter what I am ordering, I can count on a friendly conversation with the Starbucks baristas. Not to mention a solid, reliable coffee. Having a drive-through for when I just do not want to get out of my car doesn't hurt either. read more

Can't believe I haven't reviewed this location. This is my absolute go-to Starbucks and I have never had a problem. Maybe the occasional "oh we're out of that" but really that's it. The staff here is always friendly and upbeat...even at 5am. Props to them. I always come here to get occasional work done and, although it's no library, it's still fairly relaxing. The drive thru is always fast and efficient and they never once made an error on my order. What more can you ask for? This Starbuck rocks and I will continue to give them business! read more

Definitely my favorite Starbucks location to visit on my way to work, preferred over the closer Vernon Hills location for me. I customize my go-to drink, and every morning when Kathleen sees me, she gets my drink going right away! They also consistently make my drink perfectly, unlike some other locations that just doesn't portion my customization correctly. There are also lots of familiar faces at this location, always friendly, which shows great employee retention as I've been visiting this location frequently in the last year. read more

We came to this Starbucks on Friday night after eating at Roti. The husband wanted his caffeine fix along with purchasing a pound of coffee to have at home. I wanted my decaf S'mores Frappacino fix. It was a little overwhelming seeing all the coffee by the pound and it being our first time purchasing at a local Starbucks. My husband loves dark roast and there were many options. It was pretty disappointing when we asked the young guy working the register which one he recommends. Another older gentleman employee helped guide us through choosing one and was kind enough to ground it up for us. Back to the young guy working the register, my husband asked him what he recommended for a latte and he told us he doesn't drink lattes and recommended the White Chocolate Mocha. My husband doesn't care for white chocolate and knew he would be little help so he chose the Toffee Latte. He thought it was good, but not great like it should be. Luckily, we had gift cards for Starbucks and weren't as disappointed if it was money of ours spent. I ordered the S'mores Fappacino decaf and the young guy asked if I wanted to order it the cream way. He clearly didn't understand the reason for me ordering decaf was for the coffee flavor which my husband had to explain to him. My S'mores Frappaccino turned out great and was very satisfying. Overall, it was a mediocre experience at this Starbucks location. I think there needs to be a lot more in depth training of coffee knowledge taught to employees so they can guide customers into the right direction. read more

It pains me to give another Starbucks a bad review, but I've kind of had enough... I work up the street. So this is one of my go-to locations. However, consistently I find they get my order wrong. Maybe if I was the type of person to be patient enough to wait for my drinks to be remade I wouldn't care, but seeing as I'm not and usually don't realize the mistake till I drive away (peppermint syrup in my iced coffee when I asked for and my cup says cinnamon dolce)... I come here almost every Sunday before church. The staff is all very nice and gets things done quickly. They're a pretty high volume store as they're off a main road and have a drive through, but they have never made a mistake on any of my orders. With a love for coffee and experience working at Caribou Coffee for a little I started out 2014 with the mission to visit all of the coffee shops in my area. After visiting a few, I thought why not write reviews and share my thoughts on each of them. So here we are... with out any further ado let's dive right in to my unbiased review of Starbucks Coffee in Vernon Hills! First, let me point out I am a Starbucks gold member since 2012! So I have been to my fair share of locations, and spent a little bit to much money getting my caffeine fix. Location & Ambiance: Killer location! Great for grabbing a bite to eat and a cup of coffee! Cant beat this location with multiple fast casual dining options near by! Coffee: Well it is a coffee shop, so lets talk about the quality of my cup of coffee! I will say this, Starbucks is far from the best coffee shop I have been to! There coffee is ok, and great when in a pinch or in an area you don't know well. You can expect to get the same cappuccino, latte, or frap no matter which location you go to! Food: While the options are extensive, and with the addition of the new bakery the quality has gone up its still just a frozen pastry or sandwich. The food is ok at best, and I can recommend going for just the pastries or sandwiches alone. Staff: The staff was nice, but felt the same as Caribou, or any other corporate store. They got the job done, and did it well. Overall, I would definitely recommend going to Starbucks if you are in a pinch. This location specifically is good, but once again its just like any other corporate feeling Starbucks! read more

The products at Starbucks are great, overpriced in my opinion but quality products. I'm deterred from buying from a store that doesn't have a menu of what they offer. This store per se at least has 4-5 posters advertising specials and 1 menu with a fraction of what is available. I can only conclude it's presumed all customers know what's available and already know what they want. I for one don't have the full menu memorized and when I asked for one the cashier asked if I had the app to which I said no. Apparently this place is doing SO well it doesn't need new customers so kudos to them read more

Coffee good, coffee reeaaal good! Being steps away from my work I visit frequently. I must also say because of this place, i did in fact download the app and start the rewards program here. My usual White Mocha Iced Expresso gets messed up sometimes here but they fix it right away. Friendly staff, nice manager and clean area always makes for a good business. This location also has a drive thru which I haven't been lazy enough to use yet but believe me, I'm no stranger to drive thrus, even if just for coffee. Worst Starbucks around. They always give me problems that don't happen at other Starbucks. Things such as not filling up coffee all the way and charging extra for things that don't cost extra like creamer and milk. I've been to this Starbucks a few times, mostly through the drive-thru. Starbucks is consistent in their coffees and drinks, so as someone who drinks limited types of coffee, it's nice to know that I can order a skinny vanilla latte and am getting exactly what I asked for. It's also nice to say skinny vanilla latte instead of latte with sugar free vanilla and skim milk. The drive-thru moves pretty quickly, even when I've also gotten a breakfast sandwich with my morning coffee. I've not been to this location except for between 6 and 7 in morning, so I can't comment on how crowded the parking lot gets or noisy children/pre-teens. read more

Drinks were consistent but service was slow though there was very little line. Employees were busy talking among themselves. This is a good location, very friendly workers, I got a water here just to break up come change for tolls before I get on the highway, my water wouldn't scan, so the guy told me it's ok, it's free. But eventually, my water did scan, so I paid for it. I mean what a nice gesture, even though I am not sure if it's his call. Either way, I would have paid though, I just like that they are laid back, which is what a starbucks should be like. I went into this Starbucks around the middle of last week and had the worst customer service at any Starbucks (on par with another Starbucks...but that guy was just bitter and nasty). The girl that helped us was young and a little on the eighties fashion style. I order the salted caramel mocha Frappuccino. This item is seasonal and the button has been taken away so I have learned how to let the employees know how to ring it in (if they don't know how to do this). I never assume the employee doesn't know how to do it, but when I see them struggling I volunteer the way to ring it. Anyway, this girl was struggling and pushing random buttons so I happily started to say "they took away the button but they usually....". That is when she cut me off with a nasty look and a "yeah yeah" and then continued to ring the drink in wrong. Lucky for her the other lady, who is usually there came over and let the other girl go on break as she fixed the drink order. I should never be yeah yeahed, but even less so if you don't know how to do your job. read more
