Pumpkin latte over ice with a butterfly to cheer me up ... compliments of the lovely barista!
    Veronica F.

My lovely and beautiful barista put a butterfly on my coffee after hearing about our car issues. Our coffees were made perfectly. She was very polite. She was very empathetic and professional. Good job Starbucks!

The racist lady at the Safeway Starbucks. If you're a person of color expect horrible service from Rose

I was staying overnight on a vacation roadtrip and came in on May 30th at 615 am after finding this…read moreplace on Yelp. The waitress Maria L. sat me at a table. I asked for coffee and she handed me a menu and she asked if I knew what I wanted to eat. I said I needed some time to look at the menu and she frowned and walked away without saying a word. It was obvious she thought I was going to be there a while and didn't want me sitting at the table long. She returned with the coffee and said "You know if it gets busy...." leaving the sentence hanging. I replied I would leave if it did (the restaurant only had maybe 3 tables full at that point, by the time I left at 640 there were two tables empty). After eating the food, which was quite good, I promptly packed up and left as soon as I could 25 minutes after being seated. I walked down to Brewed Awakenings, got a coffee there and sat down at my computer to do some work. In a small restaurant I totally understand that you need to keep tables moving so there is not a wait, but there is a polite and subtle way to message to a patron that they need to move along so other folks can sit down. You can deliver the check early, ask if you are finished, ask if there is anything else you need. Ways to communicate to a patron that they need the table. This was certainly not it. I eat out often, I tip very well, but I have to say this is the first time I felt unwelcome and rushed at a place in a very, very long time. While the food was good, this was not the way to start off day 2 of my roadtrip. In today's economy, making your customers feel like they need to eat and run, and doing so in a rude way, is a master class in how to make your restaurant fail. I do not recommend this place.

I walked into Fred Harvey expecting the usual sad hotel buffet vibes--lukewarm mystery meats and…read moreregret--but instead, I got pleasantly schooled. This place is surprisingly decent, and in buffet land, that's basically a Michelin star. Breakfast? Solid. Dinner? Also solid. They're pulling double duty like a champ without breaking a sweat. The bread is fresh-baked and dangerously addictive (I may have committed carb crimes). The pasta station had me twirling happiness, and the omelette station was flipping out perfect custom creations without judgment. But let's be real: the true MVP was the soft serve. That creamy, dreamy swirl machine had me acting unwise. I went back for thirds and zero shame. Shoutout to the staff--they're genuinely nice and accommodating, like they actually enjoy their jobs. Rare as a perfectly cooked buffet egg. Whether you're fueling up before a day of whatever you do in this area or winding down with dinner, Fred Harvey delivers without the usual side of disappointment. Pro tip: Leave room for the soft serve. Trust me. I'm basically a professional now. Would return. Might marry the soft serve machine. 1 Star - Fred Harvey Gift Shop: Where the Souvenirs Are Fine, But the Racism Is Vintage I came for some overpriced keychains and maybe a magnet to remember my surprisingly decent meal at the attached Fred Harvey restaurant. What I got instead was a masterclass in selective hospitality from an old white-haired lady behind the counter who clearly moonlights as the neighborhood gatekeeper. First incident: Restaurant's closing, gift shop too. My son lags a few steps behind (you know, kid stuff), so we're casually browsing while waiting. Out comes the yell: "We're closed!" I politely explain we're just waiting for him. "You need to get out." Cool, cool. Right then, a white lady and her daughter stroll up. Same situation--waiting for hubby. Suddenly it's all "Oh ok dear, no problem! Take your time!" The contrast was so stark I nearly got whiplash. Round two, breakfast the next day. We actually wanted to buy stuff this time. Walk straight from the restaurant (it's connected!) into the shop. Another white lady enters from outside. "Darling, we're closed." She says she'll just grab a couple things--boom, "Ok that's fine!" Then my son swings around the corner and it's instant yelling: "WE ARE CLOSED! You can't buy anything!!" I jump in: "We came from the restaurant, we were already in here." Her response? A legendary "SO!" My white friend (who could pass for Latin) had to step in and point out the obvious double standard before she grudgingly let us shop. At that point? Zero desire to give her a single dollar. I wanted to vault the counter and test if that hair was a wig, but I'm a lady who respects her elders--even when they don't respect basic decency. For context: My kids are half Black, half Spanish. Beautiful, polite, and just trying to buy some tourist junk like everyone else. The racism was so blatant it ruined what should've been a harmless five-minute transaction. The shop itself? Meh souvenirs. The experience? 1 star and a lifetime of side-eye. Racism is alive and well in the gift shop, folks. Skip it unless you enjoy vintage prejudice with your postcards. Would not return. Might mail the manager a mirror instead. I would be giving the restaurant a 5 star review for the amazing service and pretty impressive buffet experience, but the gift shop ruined that guys. For a town that gets 100% of its income from tourists, it's crazy that being ethnic will get you treated like this.. please address this.

Do yourself a favor and avoid this buffet. This was, without…read morea doubt, one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. The food quality was completely unacceptable. Most of the "hot" items were cold, tasted like they had been sitting out far too long, and seemed anything but fresh. The carving station was the worst part. The meat I was served was severely undercooked -- to the point it was inedible. I actually had to placed it on a napkin, and the waitress took it back to show her manager because of how bad it was. That alone should tell you everything. The service didn't improve the situation either. The check-in process was disorganized and unwelcoming, and overall the experience just felt poorly managed from start to finish. For the price you pay, this place is absolutely not worth it. There are far better options out there. I would not return and definitely would not recommend it to anyone. We paid 72.00 for this buffet which wasn't posted anywhere when you walk up or I would have not eaten here !
