Sure it may just look like a gas station on the outside but walk inside and you'll find themed names of a delicious array of coffee drinks. I know! I usually give 5 stars or 1 star. Why 4? Read on. We were leaving Grand Canyon and desperate for coffee on our way home. The evil empire, Starbucks, closes early apparently and we were blessed to see this gem on the map between us and Highway 40. Don't be confused by old photos of a little shed. It IS in the Chevron gas station. Which is cool because there are clean bathrooms and snacks for kids if you've got them. The coffee is great! Just what the doctor, or me, the mom, ordered. The only reason I dropped a star is because the guy working was clearly annoyed with our presence so close to closing, or maybe his day was awful. Not sure but we felt like a very grateful for coffee inconvenience. Still, we would go again. read more

Not your typical gas station coffee. We were able to get good lattes, one with oat milk. Service was friendly and prompt. Other than the kick ass coffee they had Grand Canyon souvenirs, wine/beer/liquor, and other gas station goods. Overall ambiance is a good place to get a "real" coffee for miles in that area. read more

I ordered the Red Rock and my boyfriend ordered the Dirty Gold. They were very flavorful but not too sweet. I enjoyed it a lot. We stopped here on the way up to the grand canyon! First note, this coffee shop is in the gas station. I drove about the KOA for a moment while looking for the address. For "gas station coffee", this offers a step above the norm. Lots of different flavors to choose from, so you're bound to find something you enjoy. The young lady that assisted us was also very friendly. read more

Wow! We stopped here on our way from the Grand Canyon to Sedona. Their ice cream topped with espresso and espresso milkshakes are amazing!! Definitely recommend making this stop if you're in the mood for coffee, espresso, and/or ice cream. Service was also fantastic! read more

Best coffee, hands-down! They don't burn their beans and it's full of flavor! I don't normally do reviews but I couldn't resist.

They close at 8 pm. Arrived at 6:00 pm on my way to Grand Canyon National Park. Asked for a decaf Americano. "We don't have decaf". Seriously?! Even truck stops and McDonald's have decaf! Be forewarned that this is a gas station. There was only one person in the building and he was the cashier. He was also going to make my expresso drink if I had wanted one? Service was excellent from the young woman which was working both counters. Never happy when someone touches people's money, and then prepares something I'm going to ingest...with this particular young woman, it was not an issue. She went right to the sink and washed her hands before commencing with making my cappuccino. Her service deserves a B R A V O! Now for the coffee and cappuccino... Neither was what would inspire anyone to make this place a 'must' to get back to. Cappuccino was weak with no espresso kick, coffee (IMO) was generic quality coffee. Convenience does not always breed quality... I would suggest passing on this kick ass which is inside the Chevron convenience store. Amazing coffee! Definitely stop on your way to the Grand Canyon!!! It's now inside the shell station but still amazing! They now have Ice cream and is run by the cutest couple! An oasis in the desert. The only real coffee for miles and miles. Surprisingly varied and delicious selection of drinks. Impeccable service, extremely accommodating. They had non-dairy and sugar free options and were happy to modify drinks to dietary preferences. Totally unexpected for a gas station convenience store. A little bit difficult to locate. Whether your headed North on HWY 64 to the Grand Canyon, or passing by along the 40 from Flagstaff towards Williams this is an extra stop worth making! I had bookmarked this place before our trip but if we hadn't stopped for gas we might have missed it. It's a small barn in the same parking lot as the Shell Gas station and all things Grand Canyon Collectibles store.(shameless plug -if you stop they give you a 40% discount coupon and a BOGO at 50% off for the GC IMAX.) The coffee selections are cleverly named from the Good Donkey, Crazy Train to the Route 66. My favorite was the Grand Canyon- layers of chocolate and English Toffee, my daughter loved the Dirty Gold a milk chocolate mocha drizzled with lots of caramel! We loved it so much that the next day after leaving Bearzona we detoured out of way and went back for more. Both times the service was friendly, the prices are super reasonable, the only down side was that they were out of the Italian soda on the kid's menu and the snow cones but we ordered the green apple smoothie and it was awesome! This place definitely lives up to the name, and when in the area we will definitely be back for more Kick Ass Koffee! read more

Found this lovely little shack run by someone who is clearly proud of the quality of his coffee and the freshness of the roast. Great staff, great prices, The coffee was great, I had a Vanilla Blended Iced Coffee, My husband had a Mocha Caramel coffee, and the kids had smoothies Mango, and Green Apple respectively. This is probably the best coffee I have ever had! And I lived in Italy for awhile! The taste of the blended nutty coffee they had was so outrageously fantastic, I couldn't believe it! Wow! While driving on 64 towards the Grand Canyon you may stop upon AJ's Shell gas station. If fortune favors you there may be a young man in a Marlins cap walking around handing out free samples of coffee which he sells in the shack next door. Once you try the coffee you are overcome with the urge to give him all your monies and buy this delicious cup full of freedom. This is how iced coffee should be, the ice is shaved perfectly, refreshing and absorbing all of the flavors and aromas of the freshly, locally ground coffee. You realize this is what heaven tastes like. I am tempted to drive back across the country and hook the shack to my truck and bring these wonderful concoctions to North Carolina. If you love freedom, do yourself a favor, forego the Starbucks and get yourself some Kickass Koffee, so good you'll kick your grandma.... in the ass. Update, 4/27 Went back by Kickass Koffee on our way to Vegas. This time I ordered another iced coffee and the wife ordered a mango smoothy. The coffee was deliciously refreshing with the fresh coffee slapping your senses awake. The wife's mango smoothy, there is obviously some sort of sorcery going on here because they somehow fit a mango in a cup disguised as shaved ice. Imagine if you will, you're alone in the desert and you come across a mango iced tree. It's as if this place has reinvented the mango and I can never go back. Kickass Koffee you don't disappoint. I would definitely call before going here. We were on our way out of touring the Grand Canyon and saw this spot on yelp. Pulled into the drivethru (the only option) and the young woman opened the window and told us that they were closed. We asked then they closed. She said 3 p.m. It was not even 5 minutes after. Once we started down the road I looked at the yelp review for this place and it said it closed at 8 p.m.!!! Would recommend waiting til you get to Williams, AZ for coffee or grabbing one before you leave the Grand Canyon - skip this one. read more
