Food is usually good. It's a go to place that easy. However, I am getting really tired of the blond waitress talking about politics everything I am there. Most recently, she is going to be a delegate for Pennsylvania. Keep your politics to yourself especially when your tips depend on it. Will give it one more try. Wish there is zero star. First, they dropped the plate and trashed my French toast. Amazingly, neither the waitress and manager said a single word to apologize. Then the waitress took my order wrong, did not listen to what I said and end up charging me a lot more than I expected. Then I asked the manager the French toast does not taste right, he gave me a bad attitude. I'm surprised how can they get their rating for such bad service and emergency management. They might be paying for ratings. Anyway, way over priced food and terrible service. If you have better options, do not go there. I'm never going back for sure. read more

Decided to come by with my niece and girlfriend for late night milkshakes. Let's say from here on out I'll be going anywhere but stargate. When I called in the hostess was rude and seemed annoyed, I was met with the same feeling when we arrived. The hostess seemed annoyed that we didn't want to sit and just wanted milkshakes to go. We were handed menu anyway which didn't even have milkshakes on them. The workers were rude and dirty. I felt like I was in a drug rehab. I walked then was told to sit anywhere and then I became invisible because the same person that told me to sit anywhere then seated several other groups of people and gave them menus and served them and never acknowledge me at all. We stopped in at night but decided to order breakfast. We have been here quite a few times over the last year and each time the experience seems like it gets worse. First, I think the prices are higher than other diners in the area. My wife wanted egg whites/beaters instead of regular eggs and that was $1.50 extra. Philly Diner charges $.49 cents, a few others charge .75-$1.00 more. $1.50 more to eat healthier? That's a lot. So for 2 omelettes, 2 coffees plus tip we were close to $30 bucks. A bit high in my opinion for a Diner with just average food and average service. But I must add, they do have the best French Toast in the area! read more

We were seated right away.. decent crowd on a Sunday morning about 10am. friendly waitress who was coming back to the table frequently to check up with us. At least three different employees were making coffee rounds ...never a wait . the french toast was fantastic and they gave you a generous amount of real real whipped butter . I ordered the scrapple well done and they did a perfect job with it. the sausage was sweet and very very tasty. the scrambled eggs (3) were tasty but they were pressed and not fluffy. My fiance ordered the eggs over easy but they were a little over cooked and left very little yolk for dipping. Her bacon was cooked well but not over done, it was great! We both agreed that the hash browns were good but we wished that we has ordered them well done. Over all it was a great breakfast and i would come back for sure. the bill was only $16.00 for the two of us and we were more than full. we left a five dollar tip and told the owner that the service and food was great! So far this summer we have been to the Gateway, Springfield and the, Philly diner and I feel that the Stargate was the best breakfast diner experience so far! read more

Stopped in last night for dinner, first time we have been there, last time too. Server was friendly but food was not good. My husband had the fish, generous portion but lying in oil and cold can string beans. I had grilled chicken also generous portion but with tasteless mashed potatoes that were thick and chunky and the same mushy green beans. Needless to say, we said no to coffee and dessert and paid the bill and left....btw I think prices run a bit higher than some other diners in area with better quality. read more

Family owned restaurant that sits right on Chester Pike. Very Nice staff. Food is out quickly with no problems. The restaurant is clean and family oriented customer wise. Favorite diner in the whole world, and I'm from NJ, where you can throw a rock in any direction and hit a diner. Their pasta sauce is awesome, the fries ate perfectly crispy, the food is made quickly, and the staff is frienfly. The manager remembers everyone's name the next time they come in...not sure how he does it...I can't remember his name, kinda ironic. When I place orders on the phone I call in as "Mr. Awesome" (nickname given to me by nieces and nephews, not self-appointed), and they don't question it. Love this diner! read more

We love this diner. You get huge portions on a low budget. Its surprisingly good for its not so fancy atmosphere. Which is another reason we like it. Its not stuffy and the entire staff is friendly. We were there for 2nd time today and decided to gather there 2xs a month. Its a great place for the kids and adults to catch up over a yummy, low price meal. Kids love the Disney named kids meals. I eat here several times a week. The service is great, and the food is excellent. They serve breakfast all day, like French toast with bacon, etc. The specials, like stuffed peppers on Friday, beef stew on Tuesday, roast chicken of Wednesday, are all good. Even the Italian food is good here, like the veal cutlet parmigiana, spaghetti and meatballs, which is unusual for a diner. Well, it used to be a good place. Ate there two days ago, The mashed potatoes were nuked and had a nice crust on it, the replacement potatoes were unedible, I gave up. The rolls served were still frozen in the middle (seems like the microwave must not be working well). My guests vegies were cold. the meat was cooked though and that was the only good thing. The price of $62.00 for a dinner wasn't good at all. I could have gone to outback for half that. The service was ok, when you could get the waitress. Very good soup. Turkey dinner was better than average. Soup was vegetable and was tasty as well. Clean but a tad dated. Lots of people in there. Excellent service. My only issue is that the hostess/owner's wife propped open the back door by the bathrooms. Huge health code violation. Rodents, mosquitoes, and bugs etc love open doors. Stopped in after a visit to the Airport. We were greeted immediately and shown to a nice table. The staff was friendly, and very efficient. The food was great diner food. I've been to this establishment numerous times, and I usually really enjoy their service. But this time they didn't. I ordered strawberry pancakes like I usually do, but the waitress didn't clarify if I wanted fresh strawberries, or strawberry topping and I hate strawberry topping. When she brought the food out it was strawberry topping and I tried it but my pancakes were covered in it. There was no way to eat it so I had about two bites and I couldn't even finish it. Stopped by this afternoon upon recommendation of staff of a local business who order lunch from here all the time; nice homey place, clean, simple decorations. I ordered breakfast, 3 fresh eggs (overeasy) with meat (scrapple), toast (rye--yay!), home fries, and coffee. My wife ordered the same with scrambled eggs and a diet Pepsi (another yay!--we're _not_ Coke fans). I was impressed how the three overeasy eggs were done as all of one unit and perfectly cooked, The scrapple was a generous portion about 3/4" thick and fried beautifully crunchy on the outside while still a little soft inside. The rye toast is a plus, since white and regular wheat bread is somewhat boring to us. The homefries would be best if ordered cooked extra long/a little crispier, perhaps with a little chopped onion added to the basic recipe. Price was reasonable, and service was prompt, courteous, and cheerful (Nice job, Niki!). Check it out if you're near Eddystone/Ridley Park. read more
