My Dodge ram broke down over memorial weekend. I'm from Salem OR, and didn't know anyone in Spokane Valley. Once Tuesday rolled around for shops to be open I frantically called many of them to see if they could help. I was stuck. Stark Auto was the only shop out of the 7 I called that wanted to fix my truck and get me back on the road. Tim, and chuck were on it right away. These two guys surprised me with the work ethic, determination, and just all around how genuine they were. This shop was like a breath of fresh air, and changed my mind that there is actually good shops still that don't over charge you and drag you along on a never ending repair. The knowledge of these mechanics is very apparent, they know what they are doing. Tim did a FANTASTIC job. If your looking at reviews and mapping out what shop to go to, I'm vouching for Stark auto. Well, I was told they'd be able to fix my A/C for $109. I scheduled an appointment and I was told that they would check for leaks and let me know how much it would cost extra to repair leaks which I was okay with. It took them 3 hours to find a leak and then told me it would be an additional $135 to fix the leak. I declined and decided not to go through with the repair. However, I was still charged $109 just for the leak test. Nothing was repaired, nothing was fixed, my car is the same as it was before. So instead of saying $109 for A/C Repair they should say $109 just to tell you if we can actually fix it. So now, I either pay $135 to "fix" the leak or I skip on getting A/C for the summer because who knows if there's something else that will come up and cost me God knows how much. I've live in Spokane my whole life. I also work with the public and I heard GREAT things like the owner is HONEST and the prices are very reasonable. The dealership service department was ripping me off and I do have proof of that. No more light on them but if you want your car to run right for the cost of vehicles these days , STOP throwing your money away at the dealership and make it (1) stop here!!!! Stark Auto has been my auto repair service for years, and I went to Angler's before Angler sold to Chuck Stark. The transition from Angler's to Stark was seamless, and I still receive the same excellent service, prices, and personalities. I read the review from Mia C., and I strongly urge anyone who reads it to disregard it. I just had Stark Auto replace my air conditioning system. When it suddenly stopped working, I thought the Freon needed charging or that more needed to be added. Assessing the problem took 2.5 hours, because the mechanic started with what was the most basic fix, and then had to test other parts of the system until the problem was finally found. I went in to Stark not knowing what I would be paying, but knowing full well that I would be paying for the labor/time it took to diagnose the problem with the air conditioning. I was given a written estimate for the repairs once the diagnosis was complete, and the parts and labor had been priced out. Stark always gives me a written estimate prior to any work being done. However, they spell out very specifically what the estimate is for, and they then say that if they encounter leaks, malfunctioning equipment, etc., the price will go up, but they will not do any work without my written permission. How anyone thinks they should be able to walk out of a repair shop and pay nothing when the mechanic has spent 3 hours working on their car is beyond my comprehension. Mia C. has nothing to complain about, and the 3-hour wait time is not unreasonable either, because it takes time to get into and test the A/C system. I read the other reviews of Stark, and decided I would break my long standing rule of only taking my cars to dealer's service departments. Usually more expensive yes, but you have a paper trail for warranty claims. My girlfriend took my Subaru in today for an oil change/tire rotation. She had to wait almost two hours as their was some mixup with parts availability...communications...things that I would formerly have blamed on this being an independent shop; thus why I usually go to dealerships. Not only did they get the work done properly, they refused to take payment; saying this is NOT the way they usually do business, and apologized over and over. Absolutely will be going back! Stark Auto took GREAT care of me. I previously went to golden rule break and they gave me a bid of $1135 to fix my breaks. When the next day I went to Stark Auto and they said they could do everything the last place said they would do for about $700. I have a '99 Subaru Impreza and I admit I waited way too long to have my beaks fixed, they were grinding and leaking. While they were looking and accessing the damage they educated me on how to better care for my car how to prevent future problems. I felt like they really cared about their customers and will definitely be telling all my friends and family about them. read more

Saw the reviews on this business and decided to bring my car here. I had a great experience both times I've brought my car here. They did exactly what I asked to the best of their ability. They were upfront pricing. Always letting me know of potential extra charges. As well as going above and beyond. Being able to pick my car up to tow it there if it didn't start or offering to give me a ride home if I was unable to find one. Great customer service. Always friendly. I will be back! read more
