Beautiful surroundings, spotless room. The owner is so warm and kind, he made us feel extremely welcome and cared for. He gave us restaurant recommendations and a little gift basket of snacks. He just took over the property and I know he will keep making Starlight better and better. I loved his idea for decorating including string lights in the trees above a quiet and relaxing outdoor patio space. It will only get better and better. Thank you so much for hosting us. Group of 15 recently stayed at Starlight Motel. Tushar went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed prior to back-packing up to Big Pine North Fork. (breakfast at 6:00am because nothing opens until 7:00 in Big Pine). Rooms are recently remodeled and exceptionally clean. Nice to help a local entrepreneur trying to do it the Right Way! To top it off I got book recommendations from a retired university professor (Tushar). Dorothy Parker up next on my reading list! Very cute little motel in Big Pine. I just stayed there one night, I found and booked this place same night last min due to an unforeseen change in plans. Tu Shar (the manager) was extremely accommodating to make sure that all my needs were met, and that the the room was comfortable, which it was. The bed was very comfortable and everything was spotless clean. There was also a great view of the snow capped mountain peeks from my window. I got up the next morning and took some nice pictures right from the doorway. Incidentally the cost was significantly cheaper than the 3 or 4 other places I called nearby. If I travel through Big Pine again, I'm definitely staying there. read more

If a clean, comfortable room with wonderful hospitality is what you need, look no further. This is a little gem, hidden in the town of Big Pine. You do get some road noise from 395, but the friendliness of the owner makes up for it. This place is pet friendly and has a fish cleaning station. If it were possible to give this place unlimited stars I would! The owner is beyond friendly, they have more amenities than a vast majority of the hotels I've stayed in. They are pet friendly which is very important when making a last minute decision on a long journey! I was greeted at midnight by a cheerful one man show. Juice was promptly in our room and the next morning breakfast was a treasure trove of juices fruits and snacks! The room was clean and cozy and the shower was the best I've been in all year! Thank you to Tushar and the Oza family. This was my first visit (of several prior visits) since a change of ownership a few years back. Looking at each of the other posted reviews, it is difficult to come up with my own five star adjectives to describe this property and the owners. Tushar was exceedingly welcoming, charming and attentive. The rooms are clean. The bed was extremely comfortable. The linens and towels were exceptionally clean and fresh, not worn and stale. The entire property is laid back and relaxing with mountain views. The deck area has everything you could want for an end of day BBQ including a fridge. Can I say more? I could, but honestly, just experience it for yourself. You will not be disappointed. By the way, if you are looking for a "Bellagio" then go to Vegas and leave the Starlight Motel to those of us that appreciate the proper way to be treated..... read more

When we arrived Tushar greeted us with kindness. He made us feel very welcome. Even though the motel doesn't look like much form the outside, our room was just perfect. Nothing fancy, but probably one of the cleanest motel/hotel rooms we have ever stayed in. Most importantly during this heat wave; the AC blasted nice cold air and kept us cool throughout the night. Lovely place to stay. Besides afore mentioned amenities. Comfy deck area with BBQ & utensils, outdoor mini refridgerator, cooler. Seperate fire pit area. Super soft towels & sheets. Great mattresses! Stopped here for a night on a stargazing expedition. Couldn't ask for nicer, more attentive owner. He really went out of his way to ensure that we were taken care of. A super comfy and safe motel. (I was a single woman traveling alone.) The owner goes above and beyond. The room was extremely clean!!! Tushar is very warm and friendly. You can tell the moment you walk through the lobby as there's a sign that says guests are treated as friends. He means it. Very accommodating and considerate man. He and his wife go out of his way to make his guests/friends feel welcomed to their inn. We can't say we've ever had as great of an experience with a lodge as we did with this one. This inn was our home away from home on Christmas. Tushar is so gracious, we definitely felt like a family member or friend. The room is simple, but very clean and well-maintained. Everything is in working order. If there's anything you need, Tushar will find a way to accommodate you. We're not sure when he sleeps, actually. He greets us every morning, and provides juices and snacks. He knew that the weather will be cold. So, he offered a variety of lip balm on a tray we can take with us. It was a great experience to stay at this gem! There are folks who are used to resort-style hotels. You'll certainly get a good night sleep at Starlight, but know that a family-run inn is very different than a mega chain. Enjoy the hospitality of this hidden gem! read more

We recently spent 2 nights and have nothing but great things to say about Tushar and the Starlight Motel. The bed was very comfortable and everything was spotlessly clean. The bath towels & sheets were very good quality. The AC & refrigerator worked great. The rooms have flat panel TVs, and we were even able to watch the Golf Channel! Best of all, the rooms have fantastic WiFi. Tushar is a wonderful, welcoming host; we'll be sure to stay at the Starlight on our next trip to the eastern Sierras. read more

Great little hotel in Big Pine! Was in the area for a camping and fishing weekend but the weather began to turn and we decided to find some windproof shelter. The price was affordable, the rooms were clean and the manager Tu Shar, was so sweet. He made sure we had everything we needed from water, to a fish cleaning station, a BBQ to cook on, candle lamps to hangout late into the night on the patio. The back of the property has a beautiful view of the mountains. Great place to stay when exploring the Big Pine area! We'll definitely be back read more

This is a wonderful little hotel.. The owner is the nicest man. We had a reservation at the Big Pine Cottages with a confirmation but they claimed is was cancelled and they could not help us. So we went next door and we're we lucky. He had a very nice clean room with comfortable beds and allowed is to have our dog. It was a wonderful weekend of hiking and relaxing. I would go back again. The owner really takes care of you and makes sure you have everything you need. You can't beat the view. read more

This motel was easy to find and the owner, Tushar Oza, was very accommodating. We have two labs so I wanted to be sure it was dog friendly, which it is! He charged $30 for both dogs. The room was spotless. I was hoping for a bathtub but the shower was adequate with really good water pressure. Little noise could get through the block walls and the heater worked great. He set out a continental breakfast early in the morning. We will be back! read more

The owner made us feel very welcomed and always greeted us with a smile. The room was quiet, clean and comfortable. For an inn in s small town it was terrific. Owner puts out bars, fruit and juice for a fast breakfast. Patio area under the trees is a nice place to enjoy it and the surrounding trees. read more

Ok , so this is a small town and not a big city 4 star but this place is deserving ! First, the proprietor is a gentleman who takes pride in his business. He is super kind and helpful. The motel is a quintessential style design but he has cleaned it up and made every effort to modernize it. The room was spotless, sheets were very nice quality, and towels better than most high priced chains . TV and Internet great. Outside is a small deck to picnic or bbq dinner if so desired. In the morning he provides juice outside your room which was a nice touch ! We left before 7 am and he was already up and about tending to his flowers and wishing you a warm good morning. I highly recommend this motel if you find yourself passing through this area ! read more

I was able to make reservations at this cute motel on a major holiday weekend. Unfortunately, I had to cancel due to an emergency. TuShar was so kind and stated he understood and would not charge me. Customer service is excellent, and the offers of complimentary snacks, juices, chapstick etc. are thoughtful. I also liked the soap and shampoo dispensers to eliminate plastic waste. Individual stuff was available but you can choose to leave it alone and use the dispenser. Top it off with a drink and pizza at Rossi's down the street for a perfect stay! read more

Yep, it's really good. As the other reviews state, Tushar goes way out of his way to make you comfortable, with snacks and treats, loaners for forgotten items etc etc. He's a charming and interesting conversationalist, and obviously takes pride in his establishment. The motel itself has masonry between-room walls and is very quiet indeed. And there is a lovely shady deck with a barbecue and plenty of seating. It's a comfortable spot to take your coffee and juice in the morning. And they have pet-friendly rooms, which is how we wound up here. So two thumbs up. We'll definitely be back. read more

My friends and I have stayed here many times and the place was always a good Motel to stay at. Nothing fancy just what we needed to shower and sleep. Well the new management and owner are awesome. We found that the rooms are cleaners than before, beds were better and the whole place just looks/feels more comfortable. Many great places to ride dirt bikes in the area. We were so lucky to stumble upon this place! The owner held a room for us (both times, to and from) and greeted us with a very late check in. He was so accommodating and nice. Great man who takes pride in his business. We drive 395 all the time to see my husbands family and always need to stay half way at a hotel that takes dogs.
