Great room, comfortable bed. The bathroom had extra stuff like toothbrushes, combs, and toothpaste (handy for travelers). The host gave us snacks and water late at night when we arrived. Little chick lives at the property. She is cool and friendly

When are PCT plans took a turn. We decided to stay in the area for a few more days and chose the starlight Motel based on the yelp reviews. As other yelpers mentioned, it's a great stay. The hosts are amazing and kind. The fruit basket and cookies to welcome you along with a cold beer made it even more amazing. It's so far better place to stay that the other two choices in town. The cinderblock walls ensure that the room is very quiet. You will not be hearing your neighbors through the walls. Fish cleaning station for those of you who like to angle plenty good fishing just up the canyon in Pine Creek. I would highly recommend staying at the starlight motel if you're passing through big Pine and looking for some lodging, we stayed for four nights and really enjoyed it!

I love these small, mom & pop, motels. They're usually quiet and cozy, and the Starlight is that and more. Let's start with the easy parking right in front of your room, that's a plus. The room has everything you could want, A/C, nice flatscreen TV, microwave, refrigerator, extra blankets, bathroom amenities including toothbrushes, comfy bed, and walls that are soundproof. I will be back.

Tushar is the owner and has some of the best customer service I've ever received from any motel or hotel.

The room is small, as expected, but perfect for a solo traveler or couple looking for a clean, comfortable place to shower, cool off, and rest. The AC absolutely cranks, which was heaven after being out in the heat all day. The owners have added so many thoughtful touches: toothbrushes, single-use toothpaste, makeup remover wipes, bath gels, plus a mini fridge and microwave in the room. When I checked in, I was greeted with bottled water, fruit, and cookies, such a kind welcome after a long day. There are also cute patios with hanging lights where you can sit and eat takeout, and there's even a homemade ice cream shop right next door with a really vibey outdoor patio. One of the owners mentioned a nearby trail just behind the motel, and I'm so glad I listened. I ended up walking through the beautiful Mary DeDecker native plant garden alongside a babbling creek with little bridges and an incredible sunset view over the mountain ridge. It turned into one of the highlights of my trip. This place may not look like much from the outside, but it has heart, kindness, and everything you actually need for a peaceful stay.

If you expect luxury and being pampered this is not for you. This is rustic charm in an adorable very clean fishing cabin. The bed linens and towels were like brand new. Beds all comfortable! The kitchen is stocked with mostly everything you could need. The shower is Hot! The BBQ is small, but we brought our blackstone and it worked out great. The food in the restaurant was simple but good and there is no where else to go on the mountain for dinner on a Friday or Saturday night. It is in the tree's with water running thru it which my dog loved, Yes they are pet friendly. It is nestled against the mountain, simple and quiet, at least after we left (there were 12 of us). I have been cleaning fish at their fish cleaning station for years and frequenting the store, bar and restaurant, I am HAPPY to have stayed here and look forward to my next visit! Thank you all @ Bishop Creek Lodge!!

The pizza in the lodge was awful. We had to leave one day early as an unexpected storm came in and the owners offered not even a partial refund for the lost day. It was cold in the lodge and they didn't bother to make a fire. Our waitress was very good. We will never go back there or recommend the place to friends or family....I grew up in Bishop and had hoped for a nostalgic getaway. As I said....big disappointment.

Get a hotel in Mammoth or Bishop and drive to a hot spring. Any bad review is obviously from some city snob expecting room service and an on-site michelin rated dining option. Yes it's cold in the Sierra, even when it's sweltering during the day it's cold at night. Yes it's remote with zero options for walking distance food. Yes there are bugs when you go outside (sometimes even inside). Yes there is no cell service, gasp, you have to bring a book or games or heaven forbid talk to the people you came with. I can't understand how anyone has it in them to come to the middle of nowhere and then complain about being in the middle of nowhere! Or to complain about the temps when we all have a weather app on our phone. Plan people!! Gather up your best survival skills and bring food, water, warm clothes, bug spray, books, games and a desire to bring it back to the days this place was founded. It's not even that drastic folks. There is running water, flushing toilets, food and gas within a couple miles. There is potable water, all the kitchen and bathroom amenities, extra blankets, heated floors, fans and hot spring tubs!! There is even wifi, satellite dishes and TV's if you are a screen junky. What more can you ask for?! Now that that's out of the way. We really enjoyed our stay at the Conway house. Had absolutely everything we needed and some. Very clean and well decorated. We brought games and books expecting to be totally old school for the length of our stay. But were pleasantly surprised when we were able to stream on our laptop in bed one evening. The tub may be too hot when it's hot outside and too cold in the morning if you don't turn up the stream overnight. Plan accordingly. Test it first and adjust the inlet to your liking. It doesn't take long to cool or heat. Don't dive in like a schmuck without testing the water....sound advice for life! Certain times of the year there are more bugs than others. Close the doors behind you and bring bug spray or citronella candles. Don't be a schmuck and complain about bugs outdoors, that's where they live! Do your part in keeping them outside by closing the doors and checking that the window screens don't have tears. Let someone know if you find a compromised screen. We didn't encounter one rude person. Neither staff nor guest. If you are courteous, quiet and respectful you will most likely receive the same treatment. The only complaint is the bed in the Conway house is old, stiff and loud, could use an upgrade. Don't come here looking for some fancy schmancy lively boom town. It's far from that. It's quant, quiet, rich in historical value and a great place for a little quality time with loved ones. Can be extremely romantic too if you aren't a snob. We will definitely be back! Thank you to the family for sharing this wonderfully rich slice of history with us. Absolutely appalled by some of these reviews.
