My son and I love to walk around Bishop Creek Lodge!

Bishop Creek Lodge is the ultimate getaway!! I've been visiting this area since I was born and 32 years later I look forward to more and more trips to Bishop Creek Lodge and the Eastern Sierra. The crew at BCL has always been super friendly and so inviting like family. So many memories have been made there over the years and I can't wait to make more with my growing family. After a long day of driving, we bring in our bags, light up a fire in the pit, and crack open a cold one. I write this review from my living room couch hundreds of miles away feeling bittersweet that I am not at Bishop Creek Lodge. Until next time!

My son's family and I just stayed for a few nights in the Golden cabin. It was a great experience we all had. Making s'mores by the fire pit was a hit with my grandson. Our cabin was clean, comfortable, warm and had everything we needed. The staff were great and helped us with everything we needed like extra towels and what not. It's a great place to go if you want to get away from the city and just enjoy Mother Nature!

My husband and I stopped here after a great hike up to Lookout Mountain. We ordered the chili cheese fries, a beer, and a lemonade and we're not disappointed! Portion size was large enough for both of us to share, just what we needed after a long hike on a hot day. Beer was local and very reasonably priced too. Will definitely be back! Very polite, attentive, and friendly staff.

This place is awesome. For those of you that think it's expensive, look where you are. Everything has to he brought up the hill. You are pretty much in the middle of nowhere. I think the prices are close to what they are at home. Enjoy the views and the great food. Mostly burgers and pizza. I took pictures of the menu since I wasn't able to find on line. I do agree with most that this used to be more of a dinner steakhouse but you can do that at home. Very casual. Bar is a nice place to hang out and tell fish stories from your day. Enjoy

    Perfect management!

I've been lucky enough to hang at the Bishop Creek Lodge annually since 2006. Our group goes up to camp and fish and hike and drink beer (lots of beer). Bishop Creek Lodge is ALWAYS a stop (usually multiple times during a trip) for ice, grocery, bait, wood, maybe a shower, sometimes to eat but ALWAYS to drink in the bar or on the patio (weather permitting). They are also an official site to weigh your catch! The service is friendly and seems genuinely happy to see us return. The food is good-burgers, grilled cheese and even steak! It's not cheap, but worth it! The stories in the bar are always tall. I can't wait to visit in 2012! I love Bishop Creek Lodge (I even bought a purple sweatshirt there last week cuz I needed one one morning for about a minute)!

This review is written with mixed feelings, as I have been visiting for the last 28 years for a dinner while on vacation, fishing, hiking, or hunting. I have seen this place at one time with an extensive menu, excellent service, and a comfortable warm place to grab an excellent dinner in the mountains. I could get a steak here, with all the fixings, a cold glass of beer, and a warm fire burning after a long day of playing outdoors. This trip, what I found was nothing that looked like years past. Other than the decor, many things have changed. It still appears quite appropriate, however there are other very noticeable changes. 1. The menu features burgers and bar food ONLY. No steaks or adult food anymore. 2. Even though the outdoor temp was 30 degrees and snow was flying at 4:45 pm on a Thursday night in October, there was no fire, no heat. 3. Should I be willing to pay 50+ bucks to eat and continue to be cold after playing outside? 4. Did I mention I was really cold? 5. Hey, there is pizza on the menu, and pizza is good. We were happy with the pizza. 6. The service was very attentive. But, my wife asked for a side of pizza sauce, and was served a side of cold pizza sauce. She was told that is how it comes. It makes sense now somehow as it was cold inside. 7. We witnessed us, plus another couple and a group of 6 inquire about heat/fire within a 30 minute period between 4:45 and 5:15pm. All of us were told that they don't light a fire since they have to close by 8pm. 8. I have pictures of all the staff and patrons on this evening dressed in their jackets and beanies, because it was so cold that even the servers were frozen, even while working hard. 9. This place needs to realize who pays the bills. No fire or heat on a 30 degree night, a clientele that is requesting heat, well that clientele is who pays the bills. 10. Service was really attentive. Food was good, but menu very disappointing. It was just too cold inside to overlook, and the 8pm closing is not an excuse not to light a fire at 5pm. Even the wait staff was cold. Poor management, and not a chance we come back even though we will drive by at least 10 or 15 times in the coming year.

We arrived in town at 7 PM on a Friday looking for last-minute, pet friendly lodging. After seeing a few dire motels, we debated driving through the night home, but thankfully we stumbled upon Wayfinder. The walk in rates are reasonable given what you get. A great bar and dinner area with a super comfy and cozy lobby, delicious free buffet breakfast, super cozy beds, a beautiful creek with chairs and outdoor seating, gardens with secluded benches, a pool, a hot tub, and free chocolate chip cookies. It was super easy to eat outside with our dog and still enjoy the amenities. They also gave us a treat bag upon checkin which was very sweet. I'm not sure what else you could hope for in a small mountain town, but I'd definitely return!

Before booking, travelers should understand that Wayfinder appears to enforce its cancellation policy even when a major wildfire prevents the original trip from taking place. The hotel offered to convert my one night reservation into a credit, but only if I selected and confirmed new travel dates within 48 hours. In my view, that is not a reasonable accommodation. When travel is unexpectedly disrupted by a natural disaster, it can take weeks or months to determine when a replacement trip will be possible. A more customer-friendly approach would be to issue a credit valid for 6-12 months and allow guests to book new dates when their plans are finalized. We also discussed moving the reservation forward by one night to accommodate our revised itinerary. While I understand that weekend rates are higher, the additional cost would have been several hundred dollars, making that option impractical. As a result, I lost the cost of one night's stay and will not be booking with Wayfinder in the future. This was my first experience with the company, and unfortunately it left me with the impression that there is little flexibility for guests facing extraordinary circumstances beyond their control. Management already has my contact information. I hope you'll reconsider and issue a credit that can be used within the next year, rather than requiring a new reservation to be booked within 48 hours.

Have to back out of your space but wasn't too bad. It was 100 degrees in town but once I set the AC to 68 degrees, I was able to get cool in the room. Adriana at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is two short blocks from Hwy 395 so very quiet. Walking distance to several restaurants. The first impression wasn't great. The front doors to the lobby were dirty, and the entryway leading to our room smelled strongly of urine. There was also dried dog waste that appeared to have been there for some time. Our room had ants, which was disappointing, especially considering the nightly rate of $232. The breakfast was also below expectations. The eggs were runny, the sausage was overcooked, and the coffee was some of the worst we've had during our trip. The biggest disappointment was the customer service. Ben at the front desk was rude and condescending, which made an already disappointing stay even worse. After staying at numerous Best Western properties on this trip, we know the level of quality the brand is capable of. Unfortunately, this location fell far short of those standards. At $232 a night, we expected a much cleaner property, better customer service, and a more enjoyable experience. We would not choose to stay here again.Do Not Recommend!!

I'm surprised it was rated an overall 3 star, it is definitely 2 star category. The breakfast was fine though like others in the comments stated - the eggs were terrible. The waffle was good and the yogurt with toppings. Coffee was fine. The pro and con was that the AC. It keeps the room cool but is so damn loud which is nice because you also can't hear your neighbors having sex. The one thing this hotel needs to work on. As they allow dogs, which is great, please create a place for them to pee and poop. As it is now, you have to walk them where the cars are parked and all there is - is dirt and rocks and very little space for them to do their business. How about take a small portion of the parking lot and create an enclosure with fake grass that can be hosed down and have little poop bags? Because the hotel does such a poor job of no grass for the dogs, dogs poop along the area and leave the poop. This should really be addressed. It's frustrating.

The fitness room is decent for a motel. Breakfast isn't much but it's filling. It works. This is a big major point for me because I have to work on my laptop and when videos aren't loading it's difficult to work. The doors look old and outdated. It just lowers the aesthetic. There are no elevators, which I already knew. I can overlook that though, my main compliant is the WiFi, especially for the price.

I usually stay at places like Best Western, but this time they wanted $230 for one night, so I started looking around and found Vagabond Inn at a much more reasonable price. And wow -- what a surprise! Everything started with my phone call. Mr.Todd, who was on duty tonight, answered the phone and was absolutely excellent. He was clear, polite, professional, quick, and even handled my jokes with a great sense of humor. He gave me all the information I needed right away. When I arrived, I was honestly shocked. At midnight, guests can still have something to eat -- milk, fruit, breakfast items, bananas, and other food are available. After a long drive, that was an incredible touch. I have traveled all over the United States and have never seen this kind of hospitality at a hotel. And then I entered my room. Usually, when you walk into a hotel, there is that familiar smell of old furniture, cleaning products, air fresheners, and years of guests staying there. Not here. This room smelled fresh and clean, like home. The bedding was exceptionally clean, the curtains were spotless, and I could not find a speck of dust anywhere. But I especially want the management to know about Todd. This guy deserves recognition -- and, in my opinion, a promotion. He was prepared, professional, attentive, friendly, and extremely efficient. He communicates clearly, gives complete information the first time, and never makes you ask the same question twice. Exactly what outstanding hotel service should look like.
