There was a complexity of pink peppercorn in the latter without being *spicy*. The former had such a unique way of infusing this slight ice cream flavor as described in their menu. It probably took 10-15min after seating for a server to take our order, another 10-15min for that order to arrive. I had originally intended to meet some friends at the Clock Bar for drinks on a recent trip but I found out after arriving in the city that it is now closed. Someone suggested we try the Starlite just before sunset and I am so glad they did. The Starlite is on the 21st floor of the Beacon Grand Hotel. We tool the tiny elevator up and I was surprised by the lovely decor and great views. We were able to get a quick glimpse of sunset and enjoy the city lights after that from a cute table near the window. The service was very good and they have lots of drink options. I started with the Strawberry Grasshopper and then tried the Porn Star Martini. Both drinks were fine but unimpressive. The strawberry overpowered the grasshopper so that neither flavor was really enjoyable, it just tasted muddled and the martini is just a martini with a dash of champagne and some luster to make it glittery so perhaps that is a drink better enjoyed in the afternoon when you have the light to appreciate it. I didn't taste all of the other drinks we ordered but I did take a sip of the Cable Car Redux and that was by far my favorite drink of the night. I asked to finish it! It was very unique in terms of presentation and flavor. Served with some " Karl The Fog" for show and in a glass with a gold and cinnamon sugar spiced rim, I really enjoyed the way the chinese 5 spice blend brought out all the flavors. It was one of the most expensive cocktails at $22 but it is definitely the one I would recommend if you are coming here for just one drink as we saw many people do. We spent almost $200 here for a few rounds of drinks for 3 people, so just be mindful of that if you want to give them a try. Conveniently located in Union Square, my family and I wanted to experience a rooftop bar in the city. It is atop the Beacon Grand Hotel, so you have to enter the hotel first and take the elevator to the top floor to access the bar. Luckily, we didn't wait to long on a Friday night to be seated. The ambiance is dim, so be careful when walking around the bar. We also got a view of Union Square and the rest of the city from our table, which was amazing. The menu had a lot of unique cocktails to select from, and it was very aesthetic with unique stories about the city for each cocktail. I decided to try out the Strawberry Grasshopper, and it did not disappoint! In my opinion, it was my favorite out of the ones the rest of us ordered because it wasn't spirit forward and it was enjoyable to drink. It was very small for a milk punch sadly. Shareable food menu inspired by food people used to order back in the day for room service. Colorado Bulldog - vodka, griffo coffee liqueur, mexican coca cola, vanilla cream, mexican cinnamon - really enjoyed this drink. Like a white russian with coke and a thick cream on top Baghdad by the Bay - patron reposado, ortolan rosolio, bordiga red bitter, lemon, grapefruit, coconut cream - tequila flavor came through without being overbearing and paired nicely with the citrus, mellowed out by the coconut cream Hot Chicken Buns - szechuan flavor. Perfect place to come for Happy Hour, drinks, a night cap and for some nice views of the bay. You enter into the hotel and take the elevators up to the top floor for the bar. We came here on a Friday night and it was poppin! So many people, the wait wasn't too the long, the staff were super friendly and great! Reservation is a MUST! Otherwise, it's 2 + hours give or take on a Friday night for seats. There are standing and first come first serve at the bar. We didn't make reservations and were put on a list, which they text you when up your table was ready. Fortunately, we went to PCH nearby which was half a block away. When we got a message our table was ready, we checked in at the front. The place was quite crowded. Music was loud, I wish they would lower the volume a bit. The space is beautiful. I do hope to check it out during the day time. I got the 90s dirty martini. The blue cheese olives were delicious and it went very well with the EVOO infused vodka and vermouth. My friend got the strawberry grasshopper. That was very tasty. Clarified drink surprised us. The service was great. The staff were nice and friendly. There was broken glass on the floor when we got to our table and they quickly cleaned it up. They messed on a drink and were very apologetic and corrected it right away. The drinks were solid; I had gotten the the Pisco Punch and my friend had gotten the Old Fashion. Both made really well and the waitress was very attentive and checked in on us frequently. They had a wide selection of cocktails to choose from but we just stuck to one drink. I have been to Starlite 5 or 6 times since it's renovation, but last Thursday was my first time coming to support the Juanita More event for the GLBT Historical Society, and I had a truly awful experience because of the host named Gwen/Glen. I was comfortably seated at a table, ordering food and beverages, but was told I had to remove myself from the table for someone else who had made a reservation. Gwen/Glen never offered me a different table, despite the fact that she had brought additional seating for other guests at other tables. I got up from the table I had been seated at and walked around the corner to find a narrow counter with 4 empty stools, so I sat there for the remainder of my time at Starlite. Why couldn't Gwen/Glen offer me a seat at the narrow counter, as a simple solution? At least I had somewhere to place my plate and glass. Once the room started to clear out from the crowd who attended the special Thursday happy hour event, Gwen/Glen did come over to me to offer one of the many empty tables, but that was too little, too late. I understand today's event was a fundraiser, and I ended up spending $ 284.10 at Starlite on beverages and food (all original receipts are with me) for just a couple hours on my own, but I regret coming. I should have gone elsewhere. Manager Dani did come to me and apologized for the mishaps. He also bought me one drink, but the damage had already been done. I was not happy, and did not want to listen to any more insincere apologies. Starlite is a business operating in a tight space, and preference should be given to paying customers, as opposed to those who just occupy tables and order only one Juanita More cocktail and then continue to order glasses of free tap water. The people who are not ordering food and drinks should be asked to give up their tables, instead of customers who are actually boosting sales. If this is Starlite's style, so be it. I will not return to spend money at a place with staff who cannot read a room. To be fair, the cocktails are fantastic, the food presentation is super appealing and most of the staff are very helpful, but one drop of vinegar can curdle a gallon of milk. Sadly, I found that one drop of vinegar that soured things for me. Be warned. read more

The view is nice and the seats are very comfortable. The music is eclectic-- they played Superfreak by Rick James on a Saturday night, for example. There is a service charge included in the bill that's 20% as an FYI. My friend ordered a gimlet and when the bill arrived they charged us the incorrect amount for it. When she indicated it was incorrect, she was informed there are 2 kinds of gimlets-- turns out they brought her the entirely wrong drink. When I want well crafted drinks, spectacular city views, and outstanding service, I come to Starlite! Located in Union Square, this penthouse bar is a great place for either an early evening drink before a night on the town or a get to know you date. I also take people here when I want to catch up with friends and see how they're doing. There's a lot of space for seating whether solo at the bar or a group of friends by the windows. I never feel like I have to wait for seating whenever I go up there. However, there is an option to put in a reservation on their website if there is an event like Dreamforce that week which makes it much more convenient. When it comes to drinks; taste and presentation are elements they focus on. I'm usually an Old Fashion type of drinker which they make taste so smoothly! Even on days I don't plan on drinking, they make their Shirley Temples taste top shelf. The service is always pretty quick. The first time I went there, I met one of the servers Kenneth. He's pretty knowledgeable about the menu and hasn't steered me away from a good drink yet. Now every time I'm there, he recognizes me and never forgets to get me a bowl of their peanuts. (He knows I'm a muncher when I drink!) Guy even does a whole bottle service dance when my drinks come out! It's hilarious! As for the location, I like that it's pretty convenient to get too since it's downtown. To get upstairs you have to enter the lobby and turn the corner to get to the elevators. The bathrooms are always clean and have really thick paper towels for drying your hands. I usually appreciate these small details for customers. Last but not least, try their desserts!
