Came here for happy hours. The margarita did not disappoint! Also had the drink of week some type of banana bourbon yummyness. I enjoyed the hiphop playing.

I'm always here! Find me during happy hour to get my review then :') jk... Hidden gem right by the gym we go to. It's gonna be a sad day for us when more people discover just how great of a spot this is and happy hours will then be packed out, but for now, we enjoy being able to just walk in with a group of 2/3/9/12/however many and having a reliably great time due to the giant TVs and ambience. Shout out to the steak fries we always get!! Love the free sampling they do as well occasionally :) Also been here to go out and crowd is a good vibe! A little bit more of an upscale vibe on certain Afrohouse nights we have been to.

Welp, it looks like it's back to the office for many because the bars and lounges in SoMa/FiDi were poppin' last night. My geriatric millennial ears couldn't take it at our usual HH spot so I looked for a quieter TT friendly spot on Yelp and Madarae came through! They were busy but tables were spread out enough and music wasn't hella loud so it was perfect. Madarae opened in February 2023 at the former Harlot. I haven't been back to this space in over 10 years and it's better than ever. Well, speaking for HH only since I'm too old to be clubbin'. TT friendly obvs during HH only. HH SPECIALS (Tuesday-Friday, 4 pm - 7 pm): * French Onion Soup Burger OR Cheese Melt w/ brie, gruyere, and black truffle caviar PLUS a glass of wine or beer for only $20!!! * Bloody Mary Oyster Shooter: $2 each * Pork Kebabs or Shrimp Tacos: $6 each * Steak Fries: $6 * Beer: $6, Wine: $10, Cocktal of the Week: $12 4% SF mandate added to all bills. D R I N K S * Hendricks, shaken w/ lemon twist ($18 x2) * Club Soda ($2) * Diet Coke ($4, no refills) S N A C K S * Bloody Mary Oyster Shooters w/ citron foam, lime gremolata ($2 x6) Savory with an nice citrusy spice and umami. Silky smooth oyster. * Steak Fries w/ tabasco, caper remoulade ($6 x3) Hot and crunchy with a fluffy soft interior. I usually dislike capers but it was pulsed in to add a pleasant salty acid to the addictively flavorful and creamy remoulade. Ended up ordering three rounds. S E R V I C E Mikaylah and Otto were WONDERFUL! Upbeat, personable, and there when we needed something. Fast drink and food service. A M B I A N C E Trendy and sophisticated with plush velvet couches, TVs for watching the game, DJ booth, and dancefloor. Two levels with a bar on each. Great lighting system with LED walls. House/EDM playing (not too loud during HH). DJs on the weekends. CLEAN restrooms. P A R K I NG Don't recommend driving here on weeknights (traffic and construction were a nightmare). Street parking is much easier on the weekends. Overall, loved our HH experience at Madarae (good vibes, not too loud, tasty+affordable snacks, and great service) and looking forward to returning. Bone marrow & steak tartare w/ black truffle caviar, I'm coming back for you!

Madarae Rocks! This nightclub in San Francisco is a haven for those seeking an unforgettable nightlife experience. They continue to bring the world's best Afro-house DJs week after week, the energy here is unmatched, with electrifying beats that keep the crowd dancing all night long. The bottle service here is celebratory to the max and second to none, offering luxury and top-tier exclusivity. Complementing this is the city's finest bartender; The Ginger Wizard, Dan, whose skillful mixology and attentiveness elevates the experience to an art form. Whether you're looking to party or indulge in first-class service, Madarae sets the bar for San Francisco's nightlife.

A very unique bar in the heart of San Francisco. Such interesting people and decor. A little bit of everything here. Young and old, people dressed over the top and some casual, literally anything goes here. They were playing house music when I was there on a Saturday night. Very friendly staff shout out to bouncer Gregory lol.

Hella inconspicuous on the outside and hella detailed inside. Variety of decor works for this place with jungle vibe wallpaper and gold infused wallpaper on the ceiling. Velvet couches and marble tables make this place a vibe. They have happy hour 4pm-7pm with light bites and a few cocktails. The cocktails look pretty and are strong which is appreciated. Our waitress was friendly and made sure we were able to put in some bites minutes before happy hour ended. We ordered the crispy Mac and cheese balls and fried oyster deviled eggs. My drink was the Sally something which was a tequila with hisbiscus and honey and other things. It was delicious! My friend ordered a non-alcoholic drink but asked for a shot of vodka and the waitress was impressed. She thought about ordering it for herself next time she's off lol The light bites were satisfying. Definitely can tell they take their time prepping, making, and plating it. Even just for some happy hour bar bites, it was definitely an elevated look and taste. With the upper level and sizeable stage, this place looks more like a club than a bar. Can't wear to come back here!

The house music was nice and the tables to get a drink were also affordable. This is an older crowd (around 35+) I feel like. They play house music with a different set of DJs but I was only there for the beginning part of the night. The bouncer outside was very nice but the one in the building was not. He kept flashing his light in people's faces and it was blinding!

when I tell you me and my partner had one of the best nights in SF, I mean, it's literally because of Madarae. Came across this location via an Instagram post and love supporting new businesses. I made a reservation through Yelp that was confirmed 2 days later. I also slid into their Instagram DMs to ask them additional questions and they were very responsive. SERVICE: it was absolutely TOP tier. Most of the night, we were taken care of by Phoenix (the manager) who was incredibly phenomenal. When I tell you I felt like we were celebrities, I don't think I've ever gotten this level of royalty treatment. The attention we received, the kindness and just overall great service was unforgettable. FOOD: I'm not going to lie, I was not expecting the food to SLAP as hard as it did but when I tell you I'd come here just for the food, I mean I'd come here just for the food! We got the chimichurri fries which were perfectly crispy, the grilled cheese with bacon on sourdough bread (delicious but sourdough isn't my top choice of bread so that is why this wasn't #1 FOR ME, but it was so good). Finally we got the Ahi tuna tacos--when I tell you those MELTED IN MY MOUTH I mean, YUM! Those were 100% my fave! DRINK: I started off with the Alice Smith which was pretty tasty and then continued with Long Island ice teas that weren't the strongest that I've ever had but they were good. My partner had the Big Daddy beer and if you saw what he looks like, absolutely hilarious to have him drink a beer called "Big Daddy". I love it AMBIANCE: we arrived a little before 830pm. Though I wasn't keeping up with the time, we definitely arrived at a transition time where the "day" people were finishing up and the "night" people were about to arrive. I think by 11/1130pm, lights had been dimmed, the place was packed and everyone was dancing. OMG ! They had violinist playing! Like he was absolutely amazing!!! That, I have never seen. OVERALL: 14/10. This was legitimately one of the best nights I've had since moving to SF in 2022. Also, I am making a "love note" video about our experience there, keep an eye out, I'll send it to you via Instagram once I'm done and I'll also post it here ! I may or may not have found my favorite evening spot in SF

Happened to stumble across this spot on the way to happy hour after work. The intriguing neon lights lured us in. It turned out to be an even better location. Inside was pretty empty since it just opened and early in the day. The decoration inside is awesome with the animated pink swirls on the wall all the way to the ceiling. We got to sit on velvety sofas. Drinks were great. I liked the fruit cocktail Alice Smith that came with a little star floating on top. Would caution against the drink with gochujang which was strong and spicy. Overall, had an amazing time here. Such a cool spot to visit and take in the trippy pink atmosphere. And conveniently located at the heart of FiDi.

I had the pleasure of co-hosting a couple of events at Madarae. From organizing to execution, collaborating with the team was an outstanding experience. Each time, the service, entertainment, screen displays, and people created the vibe. Whether you're looking to host a celebration or going out to enjoy exquisite décor, an enjoyable ambiance, and an exuberant crowd, do consider Madarae for a memorable evening. My friends and I frequent the venue because we consistently have a marvelous time. It's so stunning that it feels like we're in a larger cosmopolitan city. Thank you for all the beautiful moments.

I was craving a refreshing craft cocktail and got one with the Green Emmanuelle. I liked the cardamom in the Beauty Mark as well that my partner ordered. We ordered shishito peppers and mushroom bahn mi sliders. The mushroom bahn mi sliders were amazing - the quality fillings and taste of the soft bun - I was unexpectedly hit with a bite of spice from maybe jalapeño seeds left but didn't sour my experience. The shishito peppers ended up being extremely spicy as well, those are usually just a few spicy and not the majority. The roasted lemon and salt was a wonderful combo but just too spicy to eat. However, the server very kindly removed it from our bill without us asking. We order the crostini because we were still hungry and that was an absolute hit. Delicious med-soft crostini with luscious berries and sweet honey. I didn't care my hands got sticky as it was soooo good! Great experience, I would be weary if the peppers as I'm a bit spice-intolerant but everything else was spot-on.

It takes a lot for me to consider a return visit to a cocktail bar. Most of the time, I just begrudgingly go along with my friends to a mediocre bar, but Blind Pig is a place I would enthusiastically return to again and again. I first got the namesake cocktail: Blind Pig. It was incredibly well-balanced, and the flame presentation upon arrival was an epic mini show. Later during last call, I decided to risk it all and roll the dice to order from the secret menu. I rolled a 5, which got me a wine & Japanese beer concoction with Sichuan peppercorn. Totally feel like this cocktail was made for me, as I rep the 川渝 region. The drink was strong, but that made it all the better. Seeing that it was named one of the top 50 best bars in North American, we had to check it out! We came in a Thursday night in mid-April about 9:45 PM. They have security outside thar checks IDs & also manages the queue in case the bar gets too crowded. We had no issues getting in, but there were zero indoor seats available - both the bar & table seating. Thankfully, they have a really cozy & well-lit patio area. The waitress let us know that even the outdoor patio has table-side service, so we made ourselves comfortable on the outdoor bench & within seconds she had brought us waters & cocktail menus. Weather outside was really nice, so I'm glad we actually sat outside. Each cocktail is $20, which definitely is a little steep, but I think the creativity, quality, & prestige of being named a top 50 bar supports the price. Each part of the menu is organized by liquor ie whiskey, vodka, brandy, gin, etc. We tried 4 drinks total. I only took menu photos of the pages we ordered from but they have a lot more selections. We ordered the Kung Fu Pandan, Silky Street, Rice Rice Baby, & Tropical Gangsta. We had some favorites over others, but all were very well crafted! The drinks came out pretty quickly considering how busy it was. The only hiccup was our final drink took quite a while. Turns out the ticket machine malfunctioned & deleted orders put in & caused a back-up. The waitress was so apologetic & ended up comp-ing 2 drinks, which she definitely didn't have to but it speaks volumes to the high standards they hold themselves to & their customer service. Overall, highly highly recommend checking this place out for a fun night out or post-dinner treat! Glad we made the decision to stop in!

Once it was 11pm, the bouncer started to let everybody in, so I'm guessing they only let people inside every 30 minutes to prevent overcrowding, even though once we got in it wasn't that crowded and there was plenty of open space outside too. Having to wait only gave us about an hour inside. It says they close at 12am and that is exactly when they close--you can't stay any longer than that. I'm used to bars typically staying open about 30 minutes to an hour after the listed closing time to allow customers inside to finish up. As soon as 12am hits, the bouncer starts going around and constantly telling you to hurry it up because they are closed now. The service was also pretty slow, which did not give us much time at all to sip and enjoy the drinks before they closed. We started off ordering two drinks, then our waiter came back about 10 minutes later and asked for last call so we ordered another one (this was before our two drinks even came out yet). After about 15 minutes, we got all three drinks and the waiter apologized and said he didn't charge us for the third drink since it took so long. This gave us only about 10-15 minutes to finish our drinks before we started to get told we had to leave. At least my drink (apple bottom beets) was good and I was able to chug it, but I would rather be able to take my time and enjoy a drink. Their menu is huge, and they have a wide selection of different cocktails categorized under which type of liquor is used (rum, agave, brandy). The ambiance is dark and romantic.

Haunted us the remainder of the night (in a good way). * Poinsettia - Wish this wasn't just a holiday menu item. It's fabulous. * Caribbean Snow Day - The playful kid's cup this came served in had us fooled. This eggnog sure packed a punch. Can't wait to be back and check out what other rotating or seasonal drinks they provide. Lastly, major shout out to the hard-working bartender last night who provided kind, prompt and attentive service on top of greeting all patrons coming in, taking orders and bussing tables. You rock!

This place had a nice chill vibe despite being crazy busy. We were still able to find some decent seats and bask in the glow of good old JC. The place almost had a hall in the wall vibe with the twinkle lights but still boasted an impressive selection of drinks. Despite how busy it was, the staff was super friendly and bartenders were moving fast through the requests. Sometime at a bar you can feel ignored but it was not like that here. Cellphone signal is not great but they have wifi inside as well.

Reservations are highly recommended as we observed many walk-ins but there was a 1+ hour wait. Also, must be 21+. It's not an extensive menu - more like small bites. Appreciate the selection of Zero proof drinks. Hubs happy with the NA Suntory. I went with the Dashi Apple which was quite refreshing. Kiddo ordered the Miyabi which was quite floral. We ordered food items to share. Started with the Tebasaki (chicken wings). Kiddo liked these so much she ordered another one. Next, the pork jowl - some pieces were just fat but the meat was seasoned well. Loved the pear and pineapple kimchi - would've liked a bowl of that. The Tori Nanban Sando was another good one. The Shoji Burger is what hubs came for. Fork and knife definitely need to eat this. Pillowy soft bread, melty cheese, and the pickles all made for a tasty burger. Hubs would return for this alone. Ended our meal with the Hojicha Affogato - so good and such an enjoyable way to end our meal. We weren't rushed at any time. Service was good in that they checked on us often. I'd like to visit during the day time to check out their cafe offerings. Also, although not right away, we'd definitely return again for dinner.
