I've always heard about Starr from my friends and the $5 threading service that they offer but I didn't know about their beauty products! I was very satisfied with the wide selection of makeup products from brushes, lipsticks, palettes, and many more. They have a variety of brands too such as LA Girl, NYX, and Morphe. YES THEY HAVE PALETTES AND BRUSHES! Very convenient rather than making the drive up to Morphe Store in Burbank. The brushes are sectioned in different clear containers and they even added signs on Jaclyn Hill's favorite brushes! Very helpful if you don't know what brushes to get. Near the registers, they have a wall full of false lashes ranging from natural, to full on dramatic, to some crazy, unique lace-printed lashes! There is something for everyone. Towards the back of the store, there are Korean beauty products including creams and sheet masks. Hair, nail products, and male beauty products are up for grabs too. Don't get your brows done here, the lady rushed to get my brows done and in the process, I received 5 cuts in total. 3 nasty cuts on my left side and now one of those cuts left a deep scar above my eyelid. Starr Beauty is a little heaven in Northridge. It is my go to beauty spot. Where do I begin? I go here for last minute gifts and when I do not want to go all the way to Morphe. The got a good collection of beauty supplies from face products, hair, makeup and nails. Lots of name brand palettes and some stuff you usually only see online. Honestly, the lashes here are a steal. Dr. Lash is so cheap and pretty good quality. You can get 3 for $5 or 7 for $10. Some of my favorite lashes come from here. They also have a threading section - you can get them done for $5 bucks. (note: when you pay the minimum for the card is $10 - bring cash or know that you'll need to buy an additional item). Bought a gel and it smelled totally different than what it usually smells like when I buy it from the actual brand online. That made me a bit weary about other products. I stopped by today to do my usual eyebrow threading the lady I usually go to was not there they have a new girl that has no clue on what she is doing I told her I had make up on my eyebrows if I could take it off said no and started right away she kept pulling my hair with the thread which I have no clue on how that happen! She was done so fast and handed me a mirror as I looked at my eyebrows it's like she didn't do anything I told her to let me take my makeup off to show her how uneven she left my eyebrows! Gave this place a few stars because it's a cool place to purchase good lashes, makeup, and other beauty essentials. Lacked 2 stars for the lack of basic principles. So my two friends and I just purchased some items from here right now. They have a sign that says CSUN students get 10% off the entire purchase along with other discount options using Instagram and Yelp. My friend received 10% off her entire purchase and was discounted $8 dollars while I was discounted $1.29. We went back to ask them about it and the cashier told us that they're different discounts... awkward, because we both turned to the sign referencing that we both should have received the same discount amount. The cashier then said that there sign needs to be updated and blamed it on their system... the cashier even told me she's not suppose to tell people the reality of the discounts and to next time just say I follow them on IG. Lol what? I just had ZERO energy to argue over an $8 discount since I'm having a great day and wasn't about to ruin it over something small. But I feel that it needs to be addressed regardless and more so here on Yelp at least for others to be cautious of not getting gypped. It's just not right what they did. read more

Let's face it, threading is a not a pain-free experience, unless you are a robot. First, sign in the front corner and wait. My only qualm is that the waiting area is right next to the seat I was in. The people sitting, waiting get a perpendicular view of what I'm getting done. The angle allows no privacy at all. She pointed out that my eyebrows aren't even. But in the end, the result was fantastic! I didn't notice how good of a job she did until I reached my car and inspected it in better lighting, the sun. She made do with my "uneven eyebrows", they looked pretty congruent now. I'm a happy camper. When you are done, she gives you a card to hand to the register to pay. Easy Peezy. Next time I'll check out their beauty supplies, looks like good stuff. read more

I came to this place by far it was the most horrible experience ever I went in there is three ladies working i sat there for 15 minutes before someone could take me... mind you this that there is no customers there.. The lady just kept talking and didn't pay attention that I was waiting there to get my full face done after she took me she started doing my eyebrows without even listening to what I want so I had to stop her and then she got mad once I stop her. I purchased a black charcoal peel off mask for $25 that the staff recommended. I took it home and tried. Once the mask dried completely and I attempted to take it off ,it slipped right off. It was supposed to remove black heads and impurities , but all that vanished were my hopes for this product and my money ...
