My tire pressure light in my Lexus always blinks and then stays on, even after replacing the sensors. I had taken my car to 2 different tire and wheel specialists and they couldn't fix it. While the mechanics at Stars we're doing another repair, they noticed the tire light and said they could fix it. We were doubtful since the other places couldn't fix it. He took the time to research it and after reading the owner's manual figured out the problem. For the first time in months, the tire pressure lIght is off! Coming home from the airport, we had a tire go flat on the freeway nearby, so we pulled off and were changing the tire ourselves in the parking lot. We were rudely approached by a man sternly yelling from the other side of the lot "Hey hey hey, you can't work on it here" - he then told us we had to go to the next parking lot over, Or pay $50 to have them change it on-site. (mind you the tire was completely flat at this point as we were already in the process of changing it.) While I wouldn't have minded paying the money & honestly probably would've given them more money if they offered to help and/or didn't make us pay before working on the car. The manner the owner went about the interaction was distasteful at best. The worker who was assigned to work on the car for us was very nice and helpful- and was able to change the tire In about 15 minutes with the proper tools. Maybe they're better with appointments and more specialized work, but from our experience, I can't recommend them. Not sure who pissed in the owner's cheerios, but a few classes in communication & customer interaction would be beneficial. read more

This place is rude as can be. I walk in the office. No employees on site. Waited 10 minutes and finally sat down in a chair. In comes what looks like the owner or possibly some type of contractor proving service walks in and tells me. Hey you took my chair. another office guy finally comes in and tells me you can't pass my truck for inspection because it has a check engine light which I already knew and wanted him clear the code. if the code came back I needed it repaired. if he didn't come back I was gonna pay them for an inspection. The man tells me he cannot help me or he would have to charge me $118 just to clear the code. an offer to pre-pay for my inspection and I was still sent packing. wow read more

I went inside and the young guy behind the counter was helping another young guy...shooting the breeze....no acknowledgment. I was wanting to see how long it was going take to say "I will be right with you". Nothing! I asked him a question..he acted as I was bothering him. I arrived on a weekday near closing time, but he got my car right up on the car rack and took the tires off to do an inspection of the brakes. He concluded that I needed new brake pads on all wheels and the rotors/drums needed to be machined (or smoothed down). He brought me in to the shop and pointed out my brake pads and let me touch the roughness and the lip on my rotors. He then showed me a NEW brake pad and a smooth rotor so I could see the difference in my car. I REALLY appreciated this hands-on inspection and thorough explanation that even a car-stupid person like myself could understand. I learned something about my vehicle from Ken, and for that, I am appreciative. No matter how great this experience was though, I was quoted $278 for the repairs that he explained to me. This was $100 more than quotes I received elsewhere, so I simply couldn't part with the extra cash, despite Ken's friendly and professional service. A small shop with professionalism and pride. Comparable pricing. I called Ken for some service on my Nissan Cube. At 60K my CVT transmission needs its fluid and gasket replaced. Like the previous review mentioned, Ken's quote for service was very high, +$350. For reference, McDavid Nissan was charging $200 for the same service. I found it even cheaper at Baker Nissan for $160 I called around other small shops like Kens and found out that the reason the pricing is so high is because Nissan charges +$30 per quart (and my transmission requires 8 quarts). So most of the expense comes from the materials. I ended up going to Ken's for an oil change which included a Valvoline Synthetic BLEND, filter, and service for about $34. He even checked my fluid levels and topped off my windshield wiper fluid for free. His attitude and professionalism made the biggest impact. I appreciated that the most. The worst part about this place is there is only 1 entrance off of 290 heading north so I took several tries because of rush hour traffic. But like all Houston traffic, nothing absurd when it generally sucks anyways. read more

I have had a very expensive ($692.60) experience at Stars Auto. Although Ken and Gerry are very likeable people, that don't take away the fact that I feel like I got screwed. I went in for an electrical problem and after about 8-9 months of trying to fix it and $692.60 out of my pocket, I am still at square one. First he said it was the CD player which worked when it was brought in and don't work now. Ken had it out and apart when I stopped by. He left it unplugged but still, turns out that wasn't the problem.Then it was the battery, I gave them the benefit of doubt, although I knew it wasn't the battery, I bought a new ($129.95) battery from them and when I went to get the car, (get this) I paid $190.67 for the battery. $129.95/battery, $10.72/tax, and get this, $50.00 to INSTALL a battery that they removed in the first place. After many tries at different things, the problem I have with the car is just as it was when I brought it to them to fix. I asked for $250-300 of my money back and I would go away but Ken refused. Every since they have gotten a new mechanic the customer service has went downhill. I don't know if it's just me (I'm a black woman) but I can't get serviced here to save my life. At most auto establishments you can pull into the lot and someone will greet you at your car and ask what service you're trying to get but not here. The mechanic saw me pull up, roll down my window, and I waited to get his attention while he finished his text, but instead of him greeting me he walked away. I'm guessing he wanted me to get out the car and come in but all I wanted was air in my tires. I wasn't going all the way in for that and I shouldn't have to. Also, he turned me away from getting serviced for an oil change because it was four cars ahead of me. This did not make sense to me. Oil changes don't take hours. I could've waited. It was a Friday he told me to come back Monday. I cannot with this guy. Therefore, I will no longer be giving them any of my money. Was very rude to me, admitted to me it didn't take long to repair, but the charges were what they were. Offered my wife a free oil change to come back...not going to happen! I had such a great experience with STARS auto repair. The crew of mechanics spent their Friday night working out the issues with my car. It had a coolant sensor go bad as well as some starter issues. Despite the estimated work hours that lead well after closing hours, I was treated with respect and I never felt to be an inconvenience. The service was done as quickly as possible and now my car is working great. Not only did they fix everything they also figured out a way to help save me a lot of money. It was the A/C evaporator temperature sensor. But this shop also wanted to recharge the A/C unit with R-134A. This also included testing for the entire computer system which was a worthless added cost. The shop charged me in all $312.27 First he said it was ac evaporator core but the invoice says A/C evaporator temperature sensor an $11.99 to $20.00 part. What a freak'in rip off! I'm pretty sure there was no labor involved. No diagnoses or involved repair. You can just go to AutoZone and toss the new part under your hood where it will magically find it's way into the right place. Drain and save the coolant and freon and refill for free. read more
