I'm surprised with good reviews. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Only my very first initial appointment went great. Yes, the people are very friendly there but that's about it.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Two of my filling's got dark spots on them within the first year and to redo them I have to come when "I'll be fixing my other teeth". Once I went into office with one treatment plan doctor (Asian looking younger one) during the treatment changed the plan and fixed the tooth that wasn't even in a chart and told me about it only after he was done! And made me sign the consent as I was leaving the office. I can't describe how violated I felt for a while. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Doctor Papworth apologized for his colleague but it didn't make me feel better.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I gave them a chance and came for cleaning, asked for insurance pre- approval for next treatment (because somehow my pretty good ppo insurance almost never covers it as promised). Waited. Never heard from them. Called. They made it sound like they've never heard about it although they offered. Requested it again. It's been at least a month still haven't heard from them...[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]also last time I went for cleaning I felt like the doctor was very pushy into what should be my next treatment although I wanted to work on other problems.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Also got referred to a place that did a terrible work on my root canal. I called and scheduled an emergency next morning appointment.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]When we arrived, the gal at the front was very sweet and helpful.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They took us back quickly and did an x ray. It was an adult tooth/molar we knew it was in bad shape but no dentists would touch it because pediatric dentist don't do adult teeth and regular dentists want to refer it back to pediatric. Her tooth suffered from all that back and forth with other places. Dr. Dong looked at the xray and explained extraction was needed due to the severity of decay and infection. I already knew that and agreed. They were so gentle and empathetic with my daughter. They made it comfortable where she wasn't scared and completed it quickly. Good places are hard to find and I greatly recommend this office. Pricing was very fair considering it is a Sunday and I'm ever so thankful she's no longer suffering with a tooth no one would touch. I've been a loyal StarWhite Dental patient for years, thousands spent on procedures, cleanings, and surgeries, and I've never experienced anything as unprofessional as what happened today. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I called in advance to confirm my appointment and make sure my account was in good standing. I was also planning to renew the dental plan, which their own website clearly shows as eligible for renewal.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Instead, the front desk representative spoke to me with an attitude that was unnecessarily rude, dismissive, and condescending from the very first minute.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] She insisted the renewal plan "no longer exists" and demanded full payment upfront, contradicting the information on their website. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I explained I could pay the $100 now and the remaining $40 next week, something I've responsibly done in the past with their full support, she refused without a second thought. No accommodation. No courtesy. No respect.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]And while I was literally checking my account for additional funds to resolve the situation, she cancelled my appointment behind my back, reassigned it to someone else, and did not even bother to notify me.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Then, to make the situation even more absurd, she charged me a $50 cancellation fee, for an appointment she herself cancelled while I was still on the phone trying to pay. You cannot make this up. These appointments are hard to get. Instead, I walked away with no appointment, a $50 charge, and one of the most disrespectful customer service experiences I've had in years. Please do not waste your time here! I can in today with severe tooth pain that was radiating to my jaw. It kept me up all night and did not go away even with painkillers. We paid the $89 fee for X-ray and evaluation. They took 3 simple X-ray photos not a CT scan which should have been taken given my symptoms. Dr. Dong came in for 5 minutes and told me I have gum recession and need a cleaning. Take Tylenol and Ibuprofen and the pain will go away. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Giant waste of time.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Thankfully we visited Carlsbad Shores Dentistry and the doctor was far more thorough and component. He did perform a CT, provide me with Novacaine to help the pain that I was in, then used to red dye on my teeth to evaluate and actually prescribed me antibiotics and offered solutions. He also stated it's very strange for any emergency dentist not to prescribe antibiotics when a patient is appearing with the symptoms I have and severe pain. read more

After having a filling done and a chip fixed, I am having pain years later where the filling was done. I did go back in and tell Dr Brown, but nothing came of it. The chip is doing great, however they unnecessarily and without even asking me, filed or sanded something on another front tooth causing it look uneven. I actually liked the way it was and now I will never be able to have it back the way it was again. Just came in after they reopened . I'm required to sign a liability waiver for indemnification for any disease I may contract be the dental office and or it's staff. When I asked for the a copy of the coved 19 tests that the dentists and staff have had to insure patient safety, I was told there aren't any. So I'm required to sign away my rights but the office and staff are not offering any assurance to its patients that they have been tested and the covid 19 is not present. Upon arriving the staff was very friendly and the lobby was welcoming and very clean. There was coffee there which is a great amenity to have in a lobby however ironic that I am there to get a teeth cleaned from probably drinking too much coffee. Ha! The staff was very timley and Loan, a dental assistant, provided a tour of the office which was greatly appreciated. The technology in this office was very impressive and the overall customer amenities were also beyond any of my expectations. I just had my first visit with star white today and was very pleased. I do not have insurance and what got me through the door was the great cash prices. What will keep me going back is the great service. My dentist was Abbey Khatib, I have never left a dental office being 100% confident with what I was told I needed. She walked me through each picture she took and told me what needed to be done, I saw for myself exactly what she was talking about. We laid out a plan and I couldn't be happier. I picked this dentist because they offer sedation cleanings which I need because I hate going to the dentist. I came in for an original consultation and it was confirmed that I needed a deep cleaning and that I had an implant that needed to be looked at also ( But I was going back to the original Dentist for that) I also told the dentist and I made it very clear that I do not want to come more than one time because again I do not like being at the dentist. I came in July 29 for my consultation and had to wait three months to get my teeth cleaned. When I came in for my teeth cleaning the lady proceeds to ask me questions that I had no answers to and then tells me that she can't do my deep cleaning because the front office failed to give them enough time. Wasting time and money. Mind you I had to take a pill an hour before I came into the dentist office so I was required a driver and my husband got off work early to help me. Not only that the second dentist was like well I'm not sure if this is a cavity and I don't like the way this crown is sitting on top of your teeth mind you I already had a consultation with the first doctor never saying anything about any of that stuff. Then she proceeds to tell me that she wants me to come in for four treatments for deep cleaning that I need to get too deep cleanings and I need to come every three months. Are you flipping kidding me are you not listening!?!?!?! did you not hear me say I do not like coming to the dentist and here you are trying to schedule me every other month to come in for a cleaning I don't think so that was never going to happen. Next thing I know I've got this lady with brunette hair telling me that now I need a filling and I need a crown fixed for $4600 when literally all I was coming in for was a deep cleaning. Because the front office screwed up the lady insured me that she would call me the very next day to schedule an appointment and do you think they called me absolutely not. It's now beenSeven days and then I decided to call the office and cancel I do not trust them they have horrible communication nobody seems to know what's going on. There is absolutely no way they are touching me Hell to the no!!!! You guys need to get it together and Start learning how to communicate effectively with one another. I hadn't seen a dentist in over five years!! I finally asked my mom if she knew a good dentist in the area. She suggested Starwhite Dental and gave me Dr. Cary Brown's card. I called to make an appointment and was able to be seen a few days later. The staff is SUPER nice. The office is really clean and impressive. As a new patient, I was given a tour of the place. I thought that was really nice. They have a TV in every room and ask you if you'd like a drink of water or what you'd like to watch at EVERY appointment. They really try to make you feel as comfortable as possible. As I said before, I hadn't seen a dentist in over five years, so there is no lying about the condition of my teeth. I ended up needing to go back for two more appointments. They take a picture of you on your first visit, so every time after that you can just walk in and they already know who you are. They will email you reminders of your appointment and text you a few hours before to make sure you have the date/times correct. After the whole process, I left with a brighter smile and a really clean mouth. My mouth just FEELS cleaner. They would even call me the following day to see how my appointment was and if I had any questions. They email you with surveys about your latest appointment. That just tells you they are always looking to improve their service and are very customer-driven. You can tell they really care about their patients. read more

To update: I am so thankful I ran from this office. It was horrid and lied saying they would not charge for unnecessary X-rays and lied and charged anyway. They told me I would have to pay $1200 for my disabled son's anesthesia for the extraction of 4 wisdom teeth saying dental insurance does not pay. This is FALSE! I had it paid for two children - with an ORAL SURGEON and NOT a dentist claiming to do it all. I have to now get extra work for a tooth that Carey Brown said did not need bone grafting when he pulled the tooth. The good dentist in Orange County did it years ago and it was perfect. I, in fact, have to get the grafting and the best time is when a tooth is pulled ~ not later on. Another lie about not needing it when I did. And, the best place is to go to a competent ORAL SURGEON for an implant. They charge about the same but have a much greater level of expertise. Star White and Carey Brown still leave a bad taste in my mouth as I uncover more lies I was told. Get second opinions as it is your mouth and your body ~ get one from someone who is an expert in the area! Don't trust one opinion as I did. I am so glad my kids did not suffer by my taking them elsewhere. ====================================================================== Wish I could leave a negative number. This Starwhite Dental office falsely told me that sedation is no longer offered for my children's wisdom teeth extraction and tried to get me to pay $1200 out-of-pocket for an anesthesiologist to come to their office so they could perform the extraction. Nevertheless, I took my teens to an oral surgeon where they were sedated and our insurance paid! They also falsely told me my deep cleanings were covered four times per year; then, when they were not, they billed me for their mistake! They also told me that the extra x-rays would not be charged to me when I told them I did not believe insurance would cover. They had already scanned and x-rayed me to death and I could not see how more were beneficial. Long story short, they are billing me despite their saying they would not! Mind you, we are a family of four with $4,000 coverage on each one between my and my spouse's policies with Delta. This office did not need to be so money grabbing. They just lost four patients forever that were covered for $16,000 per year for all four of us! Run...to any other office! They also tried to get me to allow them to perform an implant on a tooth they wanted. Our insurance covers one implant per year. They argued about wanting to do the other side as they did not want to wait for my extraction to heal on the other side of my mouth even though it was the best area. I am so, so glad I did not let them. They tried to take advantage of my kids and me. I can't believe they would treat my teens and me like this! read more

One of the best-run dentist offices I've visited over the years. I was looking for a new dentist after switching PPOs to Delta Dental, and found Starwhite through a Yelp Search. Interesting enough, I ended up visiting based on Rick F's negative review. I pay attention to these comments, as I (and a lot of other people) believe that modern dental offices are run as revenue centers, not care facilities. Because of this, there is a lot of pressure to up-sell from a cleaning to extractions or other extensive work. However, the fact that the dentist took the time to apologize and respond professionally to the issue presented surprised and pleased me; that's not a common occurrence with dentists. So I decided to give this office a chance. I have been in twice now; once for a general checkup/cleaning, and a second time for a deep cleaning below the gum line. Both times, I was impressed with the friendliness and efficiency of the staff. A key point is that the office's technology is up to date and the small details (staff uniforms, new dental tools) tell me that they're not skimping on the budget. After my initial, thorough examination I was presented with a suggested schedule of work to fix existing problems and future maintenance. I was not taken to an office and given a hard sell on either the procedures or a financing option, which I sincerely appreciated. The follow-up appointment for the deep cleaning was similarly impressive; friendly, low-pressure, and thorough. Note that I'm not a friend of this office, just a local who likes to review things (check my profile out and you'll see what I mean). I was looking for an affordable and professional dentist to work on my teeth. I found both with StarWhite Dental! The staff here is extremely friendly and courteous, especially Michelle the front desk receptionist. I have been using Dr. Papworth since last month and he does amazing work! Dr. Papworth explained the treatment plan and made it affordable with my insurance. Additionally, Dr. Papworth even decided to scrap a part of the original treatment plan, which saved me money in the long run as he felt it wasn't necessary to do the additional treatments. Most dentists I have seen can be money hungry and will try to rake your insurance for every penny but here it was not the case! I most recently did a filling with Dr. Papworth and he used an anesthetic, which I didn't even fill him apply at all. Best part was I couldn't feel any pain or discomfort at all throughout the process and it was over within an hour! I also like that you have the option to watch T.V. while getting your teeth worked on. I have bounced around from several dentists and I'm glad to say I have finally found a reliable, affordable, and professional dentist! The day before our appointment, I received a friendly call to confirm and also received a text message the day of to remind us. That is something I don't normally get from other dentist places. My appt. was at 3:00 pm and my son was at 3:30 pm on Sept. 18. We got there at 2:57 pm and I got called into the back at 3:03 pm. I am a new patient and in every phase of the process, these four staff employees were professional, courteous, and knowledgeable about any question I asked. Special kudos to Cory who took the time to call me at home about various time options for an appointment. Cory was aware of my busy schedule, and yet she found a day and time without any prompting or follow up call from me. Needless to say I was impressed. I had an appointment with Dr Joel Henriod, and I was impressed from the moment I met him. I did not feel rushed, and he took the time to explain the procedure being recommended. I felt comfortable with his recommendations, and most importantly his professionalism and overall demeanor. His dental assistant, Kaitlyn, was also helpful keeping me informed on the process while waiting for Dr Henriod. She acted like a true professional. OK first and for most I would like to say.. I received veneers from them I'd say 3-4 Years ago. I can't tell you how many people compliment me. Truly. As I've continued to different dentists .. they too have had nothing but great things to say. And i will also say out of the 4 people that have seriously enquired to recieve the same veneers.. I let them know.. I would reccomend them, for they do great work, BUT they are scammers AND rude as hell, and i would rather NOT have a family member or friend fall for their trap. Moving along.. When I came to them, I was 19 and not really sure how it all worked. Definelty intimidated and unsure of a lot. My dad agreed to co sign, so I figured let him be in charge of the financial part (though he was located in MN) I will try to get the the point. The lady that handles pricing and all that not only grilled me, but backed me into a corner. Also, she tried adding on extra fees (ranging from 1200-1800$) thank goodness my dad caught those. She lied. And sooner than later, she dropped them. LITERALLY BS FEES HIDDEN IN THE CONTRACT!!!! She was a nasty lady.. And I'll never forget that. I do know that I was not made to feel welcomed nor did they ask anything or any conversation in the slightest happened. Except the dentist says right before the actually no turning back moment.. "You sure you dont want to back out?" Really dude?! Also before that I asked a simple question and he barked back quickly " what... Did you not do your homework?" I felt hustled for work I did not need and found the prices to be about 35% higher than most places. The staff was nice and the office was clean. I think most of the reviews they have are from close acquaintances. read more
