Murrieta Dental Group - Avoid I've had two cleanings at Murrieta Dental Group since moving to Murrieta, and both times they refused to perform a standard cleaning without a $600+ upcharge for "deep cleaning." This raised immediate red flags -- I've been a patient at a Poway dental practice since 2005, receiving two additional cleanings per year there, and in all that time they have never once recommended deep cleaning. After my second deep cleaning here, Murrieta Dental Group referred me to an in-house periodontist who used high-pressure sales tactics to push a $5,100+ osseous surgery procedure. Something felt wrong, so I sought second and third opinions before agreeing to anything that expensive. I returned to my longtime Poway dentist, who found the recommendation extreme and unnecessary, and she referred me to a well-regarded Poway periodontist for further evaluation. That periodontist not only agreed that the surgery was unwarranted, but specifically commented on how healthy my gums are for my age. Both independently concluded that I needed neither deep cleanings nor osseous surgery. I'm out $1,200 for the unnecessary deep cleanings -- but I consider it a small price to pay for confirmation that I was being scammed. I had such a great experience with this dental office. I was calling around trying to find an office that takes my insurance and Murrieta dental groups receptionist was extremely helpful even though it was close to the end of their day she was patient and even able to get me in the next day. At my appointment, there was no wait and was seen right away. The staff is very friendly and right away I felt a great vibe. Dr Nguyen Tran was extremely patient and explained all areas I need treated and took his time with my questions. I was told by another dentist office I needed a root canal and had a terrible experience which didn't help my anxiety so I came to Murrieta dental group looking for a second opinion. Dr Nguyen Tran said I didn't need a root canal and they actually started treatment that day. He asked throughout my work if I'm still comfortable and okay and explained everything he's doing during the process. I've never been this satisfied with the care of dental treatment and am not dreading coming back. I look forward to my next treatment to get better oral health. After they redid a filling i had extreme pain when chewing solid food. I had to go in mutiple times for them to redo the fill and it was still in pain. Been a customer for years. I went in to get my teeth cleaned and was diagnosed by the doctor to need "deep" cleaning. I was offered the extra services for a cost (whatever my insurance wouldn't cover). The bill came out to $500+. I was given another appointment to return to get the work done. When I returned, I told them I just wanted a regular cleaning and was told they had to do the "deep" cleaning like the doctor instructed. I insisted that I only wanted a regular cleaning, and the hygienist refused, telling me that she had to do what the doctor told her. So, I got up and walked out. This is my mouth, and I WAS a customer. I went up the street to another dentist, was given an exam, and was told I did NOT need a deep cleaning. I returned the next day to the new dentist and had a regular cleaning, and feel great. In conclusion, this organization tried to make me believe that I was in dire straits and needed the extra cleaning so that they could make some extra $$$, which was confirmed by some other dental professionals I was dealing with. I would hate to believe the "extra" service offers are being presented to everyone, and they don't need the service. Always ask for a second opinion if your curiosity is piqued. Be careful if you are asked to pay additional money at this facility. read more

Awful experience. I've been fortunate to have amazing dentists pretty much throughout my life. This... was different. I felt like I was being passed around at an auto dealership. I think I interacted with 6-7 people PRIOR to a cleaning. BTW, this was all I wanted... my semi-annual cleaning (and the obvious things that come with that, such as xrays). But the xray person handed me off to someone else, two different people looked at my POCKETS (and came up with different numbers), had someone who I THINK was a dentist at some point, then the finance guru came in... it's a lot. I ended up leaving. I have no reason to feel like a number, or a car going from oil change bay, to tire bay, to whatever. It's a disjointed, frustrating, assembly line experience. That's fine for my car. I prefer something better when it comes to my health. Soem may find it okay, but I promise you that there are MANY better options out there. read more

Initially, I had a good experience. I called and they reached out to my insurance and gave me the exact price to pay which was a tad over $550. I scheduled, got the treatment, and paid in full...then over 6 months later they send me a random email saying that I had a balance of over $700!! Uh, no! It is shady sales practices where they are approaching their end of year and haven't made their quota so they try to steal from people! I have refused as I was told an amount and paid that amount. An offer was made, accepted, and consideration was given. Contract made and executed. DONE! I let them know it's their problem to fix and if anyone else is having a similar issue then don't hesitate to use legal recourses such as reporting them to the Dental Board and California Department of Consumer Affairs. Also, if anyone is having similar issues reach out to me directly as we can do a class action lawsuit against them!! read more

Dr.Tran and his assistant are the worse. He will repeatedly say your name incorrectly and try to talk down to you like a child to make himself feel superior for reasons unknown. This place would have been okay if he and his assistants knew how to be professional instead of making fun of the patients by cracking jokes about them. My experiencewith Dr. Chi was far from ok. its been my understanding that Dentists really dont want to hurt you, but I'm not quite sure Dr. Chi shares that sentiment. I have been to quite a few dentists in my life and none of them caused me so much pain like Dr. Chi. I went in for an extraction and she took no care in trying to numb me without hurting me. No she jabbed me over and over and did it so quick, probably about 5 -7 jabs and it totally traumatized me. In the past, the Doctors took their time to GENTLY get numb... yes there's a way to do it so it's not so painful, but not her. I don't recommend her at all, she doesn't care if she hurts you or not she just wants to get the procedure done so she can leave (I guess I was her last patient on a Friday) whatever it's no excuse and I'm appalled that a professional person would treat their patient like this. read more

Since January 2022 my attempts to have a simple cleaning done has been met with over bearing attempts to up-sell extremely expensive dental cleaning procedures. My explanation of what I wish to have done as well as afford are completely ignored. Two different Dentists perform their exam and conclude that my teeth are in fairly good condition. Then the finance specialist is sent in with what is claimed to be the Dentist's recommendations. If approved the cost is extremely high. After I explain again that based on my limited finances a simple insurance paid cleaning will do the finance person will not continue and attempts to again refer me back to one of the Dentists. This is clearly some kind internal office policy and a "Bait and Switch" tactic. I strongly do not recommend this Dental Office. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Stephanie Walker for a few years now and she is the best! She never recommend anything that doesn't need to be done and there is never any pressure. Her and her assistant Liz did an excellent job on my crown, they even make the crowns there if wanted. I didn't even feel the injections when she numbed me which was great! Everyone who helps us in that office - the receptionists, our dental hygienist, and the two dentists we typically see - is beyond competent, as well as thoughtful and genuinely interested in each patient's well being. Not only are we receiving top notch periodontal care, this year my husband needed bridge work and a crown replacement. He was in comfort during every procedure, and the results were excellent! Six months ago, we moved 15 miles away from that office, but we would not think of changing where receive our care. read more

My whole family went here for several years. The dentists seemed fine, but it seemed that my sons never needed cavities filled - everything required a partial crown, which was much more expensive, of course, even with dental insurance. That was secondary to the fact that we had to argue Every.Single.Charge. For virtually every service, they overcharged the dollar amount that our dental plan listed for that service. Sometimes it was $40, sometimes it was $120, but they *always* overcharged and we *always* had to argue with them over it. (I know, you're not supposed to use always or never, but on a rare occasion, it's appropriate.) So, several years ago, my whole family changed over to a different office. I recently came back to them because I'd heard that they'd made some changes. I had two crowns done, which replaced some old and large cavities so I was confident that I needed them, and the charges were spot on. A couple months later, an old crown cracked and fell off. I went in and they quoted $1300 for the new crown (almost 4 x what the insurance allowed). Then they dropped it to $1100. They said it was because I'd exhausted my dental insurance benefits. I told them I'd wait to see my regular dentist in that office, who was out that day. They made an appt for me to see him in three days and glued the old crown back on with a temporary glue, for which they charged me $21. Later, the dental insurance showed that they'd billed $229 for it and that I should have only paid $11. On top of that, the crown fell out again in less than 48 hours. In a few days I saw my dentist and explained the situation. The office staff came back with two numbers (roughly $30 apart). The lower number was ceramic over gold, which my insurance allowed, and the other was some new, stronger material, they said. Since they were only $30 apart, I opted for the 'stronger' material. Mind you, both of the figures they showed me were way over the insurance approved $ amount, but they said I diddn't have enough benefits left to cover the whole thing. I got the work done and the temp crown in while we waited for the permanent to come in. In the meantime, I contacted our insurance. Come to find out, I did have benefits enough to cover the charge for the crown, which I'd been overcharged $120 for. So now I have to go back and try to get them to give me $120 back, wish me luck. The moral of the story is, they lie, they cheat, and they steal. If you're okay with that, you'll do great at this office. read more

It's been several years since I've gone to the dentist. I contacted my insurance and Murrieta Dental Group and Orthodontics was the closest to me, so I decided to give them a shot. Scheduled an appointment at 8:00a.m. When I scheduled the appointment the woman I spoke with, who was extremely friendly, told me she was going to email me a link to fill out all the forms online so I didn't have to do it in the office. +1 in the "good" column. I got in this morning and signed in. The woman working the counter, also friendly, called me up and had me sign a couple forms digitally. Then she said there wasn't anything else to fill out and she didn't need any other information and that I would be called back shortly. +1 in the "good" column. I was brought in back and the woman (extremely friendly) took full x-rays of my mouth. She also took photos of the tops/bottoms of all the teeth (pretty cool, I hadn't seen that done before). She was extremely thorough with the x-rays. I was then brought back to a room where the dentist would see me. The dentist came in maybe five minutes later; he was extremely friendly, too. He reviewed the x-rays and the photos with me and then said someone would be coming in to clean/polish my teeth. +1 in the "good" column, the dentist was actually in the room for more than 30 seconds. I didn't catch the name of the woman who polished my teeth...really friendly...and then I was moved to a different room. Tiffany (on her card it says "RDH" as her title) came in to clean my teeth. Also extremely friendly and personable. She was thorough in her cleaning and recommended some things I could do better. Then she walked me out and the woman who was working the counter scheduled my next appointment for six months out. Another +1 in the "good" column. I read reviews on the office prior to contacting my insurance company. I read some good and some bad and I totally get that each person has their own experience. My personal experience was excellent. I didn't see a single employee that wasn't smiling, wasn't friendly, wasn't outgoing. And while I don't have a fear of the dentist's office I know many people do and I'm SURE that a smiling face goes a long way. I would highly recommend this office. At the end of the visit I had everything in the "good" column and nothing in the "bad" column. I recommend the office enough that I got a spare card to give to someone I work with that mentioned he's looking for a new dentist. If you need a new dentist, check them out, I doubt you'll be disappointed. read more

I am so livid at this point I suffered through major excruciating pain. I had a appointment for a root canal to be done Never did they tell me that the specialist was out of network and I would be paying more as the reason why I had been going to this dental office because it was in Network. I was in NO PAIN When I went in to get root canal done was sent home with antibiotic and no pain meds. I was up sleepless for several nights iced my face as the infection spread to my face. I went back following day was given pain meds and Dr Tran thought I should get permanent root canal put in and I was willing to do anything as the pain was unbearable! I was still in excruciating pain went back again was given 2 more antibiotics and was told that because I still had substantial infection that's why this was happening! I told Dr. Tran that they should've never did the root canal if my infection was that of a concern! He told me that I may have to go to emergency room and get IV of antibiotics. I am beyond disgusted and will be filing complaints as I believe it was more important to go forward for the financial then what was in the best interest of the patient as the specialist only comes in on certain times. I will be filing complaints and will NEVER go back and I have documentation to back up everything I say! read more
