Loved this restaurant experience. The food and the ambiance were great as well as the service. Loved the empire themed details. The oysters were fresh and delicious. The crispy calamari were not my favorite due to the breading. Overall good and would be back.

Conveniently located inside the ESB, this spot is perfect for a team lunch. You don't need reservations, and there's usually no wait during lunchtime. The steak frites were good, and the salmon wasn't bad either. I'm looking forward to trying the lobster rolls next time. The service was excellent.

State Grill and Bar is right on the 1st floor of the Empire State Building and is a great happy hour spot for after work. They don't have sparkling wine for happy hour, but do have wine for $9+ and beers for $7+. Also from Monday to Friday, they have daily happy hour cocktails for $12+. Wednesday is my favorite, which is Aperol Spritz. This week, I came here for a work lunch, which was very nice. The Grilled Branzino ($34+) was delicious and the service was wonderful. It may be pricey for everyday use, but I would highly recommend for a business meal.

I've been twice. Once for dinner and once for Happy Hour. Food and service are great. Traditional American food on the menu with a twist. Upscale restaurant without feeling too stuffy. Very welcoming.

This place was so amazing ..there's not one bad thing to say about it. I'm very glad I found this gem. and I will be back. The food the food here is too die for. Everything here down to the service is five star. My daughter and I had the best brunch here ever. The staff is the best and the restaurant is super beautiful.

To start off: this restaurant is NOT located at the top of of the Empire State Building. We definitely did not look into this -- apparently, only valentines dinner is at the top. You will definitely get a nice view of the street though. Anyways, the drinks were very good and very strong. I will say the espresso martinis came in very cute empire state building glasses! The food here was surprisingly good. I thought the proportions were very reasonable and the appetizers were great to share. I got the Campanella pasta which was just added to the menu a week ago and normally I'm not a fan of peas in pasta, but I will say this pasta was top notch, especially if you're a fan of crab. The assorted cookies were a night light dessert to share with the table. The service here was pretty decent as well. Our waiter was friendly and gave his honest opinion to the questions we asked. Overall, I think this restaurant is probably one of those spots you go to once for the experience just to cross off the list. I would most likely not go back, but if you're a tourist visiting the empire state building then this could be a spot you go to afterwards.

Had great time. Very nice food and tasty! Great cocktails and even better chocolate desert! Was worth it to stop by for a first time coz I'm sure I will be visiting this place again soon!

Dont usually go into these nice restaurants, but was a special occasion. The hostess and waitress were both super nice, and our waitress was extremely attentivel. small but to the point menu, pricing was not bad at all (except for the $13 thing of fries). As an app, we got the fresh sourdough loaf with rosemary butter. Was absolutely delicious. Crispy and flaky outside, soft and warm middle. For dinner, nothing really jumped out at me on the dinner menu, so i wound up doing an order of the Crispy Calamari. Was not over breaded, and cooked perfectly. The sauce was delicious and not over powering. Very good experience overall.

I hosted a dinner for ~30 individuals individuals for a company dinner and I was very pleased! I worked with the team ahead of time (Kirk is amazing) to plan the menu and everything went off perfectly. Menu highlights are definitely the Braised short rib, Sticky toffee pudding, and the rolls. Definitely book them for your next corporate event!

Ended up at this place because we bought tickets to the Empire state building and they had dinner with a view.... Must of said dinner AND a view because dinner definitely had no view. Which was not the restaurants fault btw, bought the tickets from empires website. We would have never eaten here otherwise. However since we had already paid we made the best of it. Jay was our server and he was very attentive. Food and service was really over the top. Nothing disappointed and the servings were great. Desserts were great too! Definitely recommend and would come back.

Both failed epically. The bone marrow was inedible as it was like cold custard. Escargot had zero flavor and a real lack of garlic and good butter. Tasted more like vegetable oil than good butter. We shared the lobster pasta entree. Tasted more like Mexican goulash. No Italian flavors to be found in the sauce. Never once did the nameless waiter stop and inquire about our meal. The ambiance feels straight of the golden age, which is an aesthetic I'm certainly a sucker for. Even their robust cocktail menu fits the bill and is one of the prettiest menus I've ever had the joy of perusing. Staff was able to sit us a little bit ahead of our reservation which was also much appreciated. Wait staff was also very helpful and attentive, I don't think I've ever had my water glass so topped off! Starting off with cocktails, this place is a gin bar through and through and you'd be making a mistake if you didn't try one of their many options. I went with the 10,000 words, which you simply just give a spirit of your choice (I picked gin of course) and whether you antes) wanted your drink shaken or stirred and the bartender does the rest, so a bit of a surprise! I wound up with their version of The Last Word which was delightfully citrusy but I was hoping I'd wind up with something a little more adventurous app things considered. My girlfriend got the blackberry G&T, which was not only very pleasing to look at but delicious to boot. For food, we started with splitting some zucchini blossoms and beef cheek bao buns (both come in portions of 3). Both were tasty, but I love a good bao bun and these were so light and pillowy, I could have just went for an order of those for my main course. For the entree I went for the roasted half chicken, perhaps the most unassuming choice on the menu but this was maybe the best roast chicken I've ever had. Prepared perfectly, cooked to perfection, excellent portion size, and the kicker of it all was the stunning gravy that I was tempted to lick my plate for. Chicken is very easy to screw up, and they nailed it on all fronts here. My girlfriend went for the Valerie Signature burger with white cheddar and this thing did not mess around! A very rich patty, cooked to her temperature of choice served alongside some garlic truffle fries that made an American classic feel just a little more elevated. Our experience was delightful and I'd love to comeback here again, especially to check out more of the cocktail menu and soak in more of that golden age aura the place gives.

We actually stumbled into Tanner Smith's thinking it'd be the typical, boring bar-food spot. Nope. They first sat us at a hi-top by the door, but that wasn't our vibe, so we grabbed seats at the bar instead. Best decision. Our bartender, Josiah, was absolutely killing it. My cocktail had passion fruit, so of course I asked my usual question: "But is it real passion fruit?" He just nodded in agreement and that told me everything I needed to know. That drink was legit and had nice strength. The food was great too. My fish tacos were packed with fresh fish, the guacamole and salsa were chunky and full of flavor and hubs enjoyed his pastrami sandwich. The menu on the table was a la carte. This did however work out better for me as I had limited time since I was catching a broadway show. We were already inside MOMA and entered via the inside entrance with a guard and a huge door. Since we arrived at 5pm when they opened we were led to a seated waiting area and provided cold water (a 100F day) and a smaller drink menu. Within a few minutes the main dining room was ready for us and we were led to a three quarter moon seat with a table facing the MOMA outdoor sculpture garden. This room was glorious with its high ceiling and cobalt blue paint and an impressive massive floral arrangements. There were plenty of museum visitors still outside wandering about in the sculpture garden. Each and every staff were wonderful in their friendly welcoming stance and conversations. Having perused their voluminous wine selection online ahead of time (an excellent thing to do ahead of time to avoid last minute decisions) we placed our wine order with the sommelier. Then there was the choice between the two menus, one obviously more expansive in offerings and the price. Since NYC was experiencing our extreme heatwave we opted for the smaller menu, which was totally sufficient and very filling. Most of the time, restaurant tasting menus have words and phrases that "sound" so inviting but wind up being a huge disappointment. However, words here really don't do justice as a description. The menu seemed simple and basic enough: "radish, shiso* crispy ham and cheese; hiramasa and garden peas; sea bass, crab and squash blossom; halibut, tomatoes, sweet corn broth or chicken and red wine braised celeriac; berries and cacao -- Impressions Menu -- 'a glimpse, capturing a moment' $175 (discovery 115 * reserve 295)". Prior to ordering we were informed that both of us had to order the same menu but that we had the option to sub and add on from the expansive menu--which we did with the eggs on eggs on eggs dish, as well as my choice of the lamb. Their signature dish--Eggs on eggs on eggs: a must have to add on this special course with caviar ($50/order). The dish is small, precious and very rich and was positively impressionable. That's the dish I go away with thinking about the restaurant. It came with a stick of toasted brioche to sop up the runny yolk and the caviar (which was neither fishy or salty). I would note the dish was served with caviar spoon. Staff knew enough that after we started eating this they brought an extra set of two more buttered toast sticks. Paired with our all Pinot champagne it was a magical combo. This is the kind of patron mind reading that differentiated a Michelin star restaurant. As the executive chef described the dish: "At the bottom of the bowl is a fried egg sauce, and is broken with a dill oil; second egg is a poached egg yolk (poached in a saline solution just so they are warmed through...we want the yolk to spill through the sauce...). We finish this dish with pickled shallots and more fresh dill for acidity and freshness, and drop a huge spoonful of caviar on top." The amuse was a great way to start especially with the pairing of our champagne. In lieu of the halibut in the Impressions menu I added the lamb from the other menu. Although it was only one piece in the rack of lamb it was terrific with the crunchy maitake mushroom and tasty sauce. The sommelier was excellent and professional without being pretentious -- as well as every single staff that greeted us and served us along the way. THIS Is what one should expect from a two star Michelin restaurant. I tasted the halibut from my wife and it seemed to be slightly under seasoned, though it had a decent sear. Service was perfection. They did not disappoint and I will be back!
