They failed to properly test my car after a low boost engine code for my turbo, the light returned in 1/2 mile after I picked it up. They then correctly diagnosed it, installed the part, but again the check engine light was on when I picked it up. They corrected this, but whether coincidence or their fault there is now a fatal oil leak. I received a lecture on how good they are, and would not accept their first mistake. I will not go back there and let them destroy another car, and this after 15 plus years as a customer. read more

I wanted to wait a while before I wrote a review, because I wanted a fair interpretation of their workmanship. I moved back to Ohio March 2019 while transitioning from active duty Air Force to Reserves. I am an aircraft mechanic by trade (A&P certified) and know a fair amount regarding vehicle maintenance. I purchased a Rough Country lift kit with the intention of installing it myself, but once I moved back to Ohio I no longer had access to a vehicle lift. So I did my research, and came to the conclusion that this shop was the closest qualified shop with good reviews to do the job; obviously from my rating I was wrong. The lift was installed Sept 2019. I have never installed a lift, but I have done enough maintenance on vehicles to where I'm confident I could have done a better job than them. There are idiot-proof installation instructions and videos on RC's website. The end product which was handed over to me upon pickup was a disgrace to maintainers everywhere; the very reason shop mechanics are thought of as shady people. During the installation of the lift Tony called to let me know it would be longer than expected because they were "having trouble with the front end". Now I know why, and soon, so will you. If you are not mechanically inclined, allow me to explain the photos I have attached. If at first glance everything in the photo of the sway bar link seems fine, then take a closer look at the orientation of the brackets and how much of a bind there is on the bushings. Maintenance 101, if it's difficult to put together, reassess your approach because you're likely not doing something correctly. Had they simply looked at the directions they would have realized they were upside down and on the wrong side. But they were too proud. Tony boasted of how they installed $10K+ lift kits all the time. Then would later look at me and tell me mine was a bottom of the barrel lift and of inferior quality. CustomerService 101, don't be a dick to your customers. I'd be embarrassed of how badly you screwed up such a straight forward installation after bragging of how you installed top of the line lifts for other people. I wouldn't trust you with it. What's even worse is when I pointed it out to him, he told me they did that to "create more clearance for me", and it wasn't until after I called out bullshit on him that he finally admitted he had lied to a customer. Another photo shows just how cocked the strut sleeve is; that's simply from carelessness to ensure it was straight while installing. That's on me I suppose because I didn't notice that until a month later when the rubbing really became noticeable. I didn't take it back to them because honestly I didn't trust them not to screw something else up. Another photo shows the upper rear control arm bushing; it's nonexistent on the inboard side. It is possible this bushing was improperly pressed before installation, but any good shop would have noticed this and would have swapped it out for a good one. I made them fix the sway bar link, but after dealing with them for three weeks I didn't not want to see their faces again, so I fixed the other issues myself. RC's lift has been more than satisfactory since all mistakes were fixed. Also something that is noteworthy; I spent over $100 in fuel traveling back and forth between Discount Tire and State Street Tire trying to resolve a misalignment issue. SST was pawning the misalignment off on radial pull, saying one of the tires was bad. Discount Tire tested and ruled out radial pull, three times. SST dismissed the test and "assured me" it was radial pull after each test. I took the truck to Christian Brothers Automotive to get an objective opinion. CBA determined it was likely a combination of the two. It was radial pull, however, DT was unable to pinpoint a bad tire due to the truck not being aligned properly. I tried confronting Tony about it, but Tony dismissed it again; I was too tired to argue. I went in because of a flat tire. They said I needed 4 new tires. I explained that I bought 1 new tire a month ago. They came back out and said I need 3 tires. I said I could only buy 2 now and the other tire on payday. They called and ordered the tires and they would call me when they came in. I never heard from them. I have mixed feelings about this place. They did a good job when my car was vandalized but they put a brand new tie on a cracked rim, said I had a warranty with the tires but then turned around and said I didn't. When I called to discuss the warranty the one gentleman was rude and unprofessional, basically told me I was on my own. Mind you I live in Kent so taking my car in for a tire rotation every 5k was a pain when they weren't covering nothing but then said I had to bring it to them in order to carry the warranty? Great shop! My car died on the highway. I called them and they were the only ones available to take me in the same day. They said they would take a look to figure out whats wrong with it. I had my car towed there and they immediately put it in their garage. Eventually, I was told that I needed an engine swap. Ross, the manager I believe, worked with me and gave me all necessary information to get an engine nearby. In the end, he did all the work for me! I'm from the East Coast and I had to leave. I left my car with State Street Tire as they fixed my car. They called me and gave me updates about the car and time of arrival of the new engine that was coming in for the swap. In the end... SPECTACULAR JOB! My car runs with no issues! I took a one way flight back to Ohio and drove my car back to the East Coast. If I lived in Ohio, I would always go to State Street Tire. Super Friendly Staff. Honest and hard-working people. FYI I also promised Ross I would give an HONEST review if they fixed my car. It wasn't only a promise, BUT they DESERVED a Great Review. Liars. Unprofessional. Pushy towards all Rough Country products. Wanted my truck lifted, Matt (head of shop?) says "a lift is a lift" when I asked if he would install an aftermarket lift that wasn't Rough Country. $800 later, my lift was installed incorrectly, wanted to charge me an extra $400 to make it right the second time. Blamed manufacturer of lift, but the shop and Matt doesn't understand you can get added lift by using a heavier aftermarket coil. I'm not knowledgeable enough or have the equipment to install it myself, but I was knowledgeable to tell is wasn't done right and was installed by goofballs. Stopped in 3 times, you wait 20 minutes to talk to anyone. Maybe hire a receptionist or someone to help the wait time and phones. If this review doesn't shy you away of the shop, I'm not sure what will! read more

To start of with very un professional to say the least took my jeep in to have new wheels and tires put on I was asked if it had a tire sensor, they are the tire technicians not me they should know that (I should have walked out then) I told them I do not know I've never had a flat or low tire pressure so I didn't know they installed my tires with out checking if it needed the sensors then after I picked my jeep up they told me it needed the them and it would be another 190.82 to but them in. I found out that they where not to install wheels and tires with out the sensors because it is a safety hazard when we tried to resolve the problem they blamed us for not knowing if it had sensors now I will have to take it somewhere else to be fixed properly!! PLEASE PLEASE GO SOMEWHERE ELSE YOU WILL GET RIPPED OFF HERE!!!!! Not mention we where told one price of 10 dollars a tire then when we went in to set an appointment I was told 190.00 and after reading the reviews this owner takes no responsibility for his shop always passes the buck what a sad little man read more

Got my headlight bulb burned out. My car model a Chevy Malibu 2009 requires the whole bumper assembly to be disassembled to replace them ( decided to replace the whole light assembly) so I don't get charge of bumper service every time one of the bulbs go out. I checked out two big chain auto service but state street gave me the lowest labor cost and charge me the cost of supplies ( checked the auto supply store nearby for what they charged me). Manager is friendly doesn't talk over you listens to what I need and concerns. Job got done in estimated time. The technician did a great job wait area not fancy if you're lucky fresh popcorn but water and sodas free. Thanks and highly recommended - car lights are bright and work fine. read more
