Overall a decent restaurant with great decor and wait staff but limited menu options and high prices. The go too option that I suggest if your time allows are their lunch specials for $10 that includes half of sandwich and a salad. For a work lunch outing I ordered their fish & chips (in photo area) and it wasn't horrible but it looked better than it tasted. Very bland batter and no seasoning even with the addition of vinegar, Tabasco and fresh cracked pepper. My co-worker had the kale salad with Atlantic salmon (also in photo area) and she said it was excellent. Prices were above average for their food items and astronomical for their alcohol beverages (I am currently abstaining from alcohol so no input on taste). read more

I vacillated between a 2 and 3. We went for brunch on Father's Day. We had a reservation and arrived early, but we were sat in the corner as though we had been naughty children. This meant we were mostly ignored when it came to service. Apparently, they are having AC issues, yet they sat us right in the sun. That part was miserable. Our server was nice enough, but not particularly attentive when it came to refills and getting items to us in a timely fashion. My husband got a burger. He said the beef was good, but not seasoned at all. The fries weren't really seasoned either and they were room temperature. Our boy got the huevos rancheros, which he seemed to enjoy. Our girl got the steak and eggs. She enjoyed them, but we ordered medium well and she got medium. I got the smoked salmon crostini. It was ok- ish. Our desserts were stale/freezer burned. My server, who unfortunately I don't remember his name, was FANTASTIC -- allowing time for conversation but also being attentive. Even when I asked questions about how something was cooked, he was quick to find out. I had the salmon with lentils and tomatoes and it was AMAZING. When we walked in we promptly bu the host, and for a Friday night the place was not too packed. The ambience was very nice and the service was swift. Omar came and took our orders within 2 minutes and give us recommendations on his favorite item on the menu. Would definitely recommend this Restaurant for a casual Friday night as well as a more formal business meeting or date. Ordered the margarita pizza and the duck fat fries and both were amazing. Greetings So I moved into the neighborhood a few months ago and well as far as places that are super close to where I live , this is it . It's always bustling and is a long standing neighborhood bar despite the re gentrification. The pizzas are good and wings are tasty. Their best and long lasting dish is the short rib pasta---order it ! It can get busy especially during Nats games and DC united Games. I normally sit at the bar as I pop in for a quick drink and maybe a meal. I will say that the despite some recent management changes the most cordial and attentive bartender is Adele. His is great. Always remembers my drink and despite being busy will stop by and say hello and comes around as soon as he can . If you have not been here give it a shot . It's always a chill place and they have DJs some times and live music . read more

After a lovely walk down the waterfront and much debate about where to go for lunch, we settled on Station 4 because breakfast sounded good to me and pizza sounded good to my husband. There really weren't very many options in the area, so unless we were feeling a little more exotic (Indian food), this place would have to suffice. It took our waiter a few more minutes then usual to come up and ask us for our drink orders. We both started the meal with a breakfasty drink called "Sunrise" which had sparkling, rum, OJ, lime, and grenadine. I didn't have super high hopes for it at only $5 a glass. Granted it wasn't bad but both husband and I did notice a funny aftertaste. Husband was in the pizza mood and ordered the pepperoni pizza. I struggled between two dishes and ended up choosing the classic biscuits and gravy, being a southern girl and all. Our food came out quickly, and my what bizarre plating my dish had. The meal came with eggs cooked to my choosing so I decided poached because I figured there would be so much biscuit to sop up the yolk. Well nope. I got 2 poached eggs, a very tiny open face biscuit with some gravy, and 2 sausage patties all in a sloppy U shape on this very large plate. The first thing my husband comments on is how this could have been better plated. The sausage was the best part- it had a slightly grilled flavor that I have never tasted in breakfast sausage and I really enjoyed that. The poached eggs were perfectly cooked. The biscuit and gravy. I don't even know where to start. The biscuit had to have been smaller than a breakfast biscuit at McDonald's. The sausage gravy, of which there was only enough to cover the biscuit, was thick and somewhat congealed. I did not detect any flavor from the biscuit and the gravy didn't stand out as anything special. While husband liked his pizza, he also compared it to pizza from a chain shop. When we finished, it took our waiter about 15 minutes to get us the check and that was only after I stopped him and asked for it. I'd probably lean more towards giving Station 4 a 2.5 star review, but I am rounding up since I can't. I just don't see myself coming back here. read more

I can't like this place. It's simply not possible. I've tried with no success. Every time I come in here, I feel like I have to wait longer to get service than I do sitting in DC traffic during rush hour on a holiday weekend. Let's talk about my latest experience here. Last night I rolled in with one of my buddies who frequents here because she is a local to the neighborhood. She primarily comes for happy hour. We came on a Saturday night around 8:30pm and the place is practically dead. The only parties in the section we were in was 1 big party and a couple of 2 tops who were about to vacate. The hostess sat us at a 2 top table with the intention of us eating dinner. We sat... we waited... tinkered on our phones with 10 minutes time lapse passing even with asking the hostess to get our server. Finally at 15 minutes, we moved away to the bar and sat ourselves. We didn't even get waters. We sat in the dining room with the intention to eat dinner because we wanted an actual table and not bar stools. Hopeless. We get to the bar and we are served. We had a couple of watered down alcoholic beverages. I had 2 Georgia Teas and a burger. The only redeeming quality of this experience was the burger itself. I had gotten a side salad as my side instead of fries, but that came out with old lettuce drenched in dressing I didn't care for. I sent the salad back and got the fries instead. I think Station 4 is like a really pretty woman with an ugly personality. She's pretty at face value, but doesn't add up to much once you get to know her. I'm done. read more

I've been here quite a few times because I live nearby. Because I dine solo a lot, I sit in the bar area. And every time, it's the same underwhelming customer service experience. Last night however was the last straw. There were three empty seats at the bar last night, and it just so happens that I was with my two sisters! Perfect! We asked the gentleman sitting in the corner if anyone was sitting in those seats. He said no, they were empty. Mind you this nice young man was on his laptop, and appeared to have been settled in for a while. The bartender pours a drink (it was some sort of brown liquor), places in the middle of the three seats and says dryly "Someone is sitting here." *gasps* We looked around, and literally every patron who was there was occupying a seat. There were no coats (it's winter) napkins, purses, or man-bags that suggested that any person was actually sitting there, unless Casper the friendly Ghost is a regular there. So either the bartender didn't want us sitting there, or he was holding seats for some people he knew were coming. Ummm that's not how this works. That's not how any of this works. Needless to say, I won't be patronizing this place again. I can deal with "ok" food complimented by great customer service. However, you can't have mediocre food and terrible customer service. Luckily, the Masala restaurant a few doors down and new additions in and around the Navy Yard present me with more options! read more

3.5 Stars Caveat: This review is for Happy Hour only. I gotta give them points for style. Station 4 (as in 4th Street) is the swankiest and most ambitious in the group of bars/restaurants run by the Stonies/Tunnicliff's team (and outside the Mandarin Hotel, by far the most upscale place in SW): black walls, circular red booths, chandeliers and a long L-shaped bar that seats 20. By the look of it (and the pre-theater menu) I would say that 1) they're trying to capture some of the pre and post-theater crowd (Arena is just around the corner) and 2) they must have had the same interior designer as Policy over on 14th Street. OK, enough of the style; what about the food and drink? In your glass: 14 drafts including DC Brau "The Corruption" IPA, Fat Tire, and Alexander Keith's Nova Scotia Style Brown Ale (the only place in DC I've seen this). Unfortunately, it's only the more mundane beers (Lite, Blue Moon, Peroni, etc.) that get the $4 happy hour pricing. Expect to pay an average of $7 for the others. More intriguing is their bottle selection: 16 micros including Heavy Seas Plank and Abita Andygator (both 22oz). On your plate: the Happy Hour Menu (only available in the bar area) includes Duck Nuggets-$5 and Moorish Pork Kabobs (I thought the Moors were Muslim?!?)-$6. I had the fried calamari with cilantro lime aioli -7. It was OK, but a little on the greasy side. Overall opinion: the neighborhood needed something like this, but the prices could afford to come down a buck or two. read more

Arrived at 6 for their pre-show menu --- performance at Arena Stage at 7:30. No problem, right? WRONG! Ten minutes for the server to arrive and take my drink order. I decided to put in my full order at the time in the interest of getting to the show with time to spare. Ceviche appetizer was good but didn't arrive until 6:38. The couple next to me (that arrived after me) went to complain about their service and their entrees arrived shortly after. At 6:45, I went in and complained about not getting my entree. It finally arrived at 7:03 without the wine I ordered, and my steak was tough and overcooked. I had to track down a manager to get my water refilled. I asked for my check when the entree arrived, skipped dessert included in the prix fixe menu, and just barely made the show. Worst $60 spent! Don't go. Wish I could give it no stars. read more

I picked something else...and it wasn't strong at all...didn't even give me a buzz. O_o Next thing we found odd was how LONG it took for this guy to take our orders! You would have though he was a senior citizen or something! Anywho, he finally takes our orders and off he goes. And this was his pattern the entire evening! ---- Let me plug in here, the food was not bad at all, actually it was awesome.---- When we we clearly done, and I kid you Yelpers not, it took this guy up to 45 mins. just to issue us the final bill....45 frickin MINUTES!!! At this point, I was so sleepy when my wife ordered a dessert, I cancelled it when he came back around. I was entirely frustrated and sleepy messing with this guy. When I left, I looked up at the sign, let out a sigh of relief, and we both agreed to NEVER go back to this place again as long as Pretty Boy Silver is working there. The food here is outstanding! The service is atrocious. I ordered a California chicken sandwich on a french baguette for lunch and the baguette came out clearly burnt. I contemplated sucking it up and not saying anything but it was way too burnt to let slide. I asked the kitchen manager if she could redo it, and she told me that "the baguette wasn't that burnt, that's how we cook it." To which I replied, "I can appreciate that but I prefer that my sandwich is not burnt. Would you please remake it?" She looked at me as if I'd insulted her mother and asked me not to be rude. I felt like I was on a Key & Peele bit because I was being overly polite because of the obvious. I waited in awkward silence for my 2 times a charm chicken sandwich. They didn't waste any time remaking my sandwich and it was fantastic. This time the bread was not burnt; it was...normal. The food here is off the charts good, if they worked on their service and treating everyone fairly based on the color green, then this place has potential to be great. I could be wrong. The place was very busy when my girlfriend and I arrived before a show at Arena stage on a Tuesday night. The decor is somewhat cool and definitely going for an upscale vibe. Not my taste. A little "Vegas/wannabe nightclub", but, whatever. It has a vibe. Menu looked interesting...and overpriced. And guess what? It was. Had the "crispy" pork shank. Which was neither crispy or tasted like pork. Slowly cooked, braised pork is one of the tastiest pieces of meat out there. It's supposed to be slightly fatty, succulent and delicious, right off the bone. This was...tasteless. Like, seriously, had very little taste. Not even a meaty taste. Definitely no salt or spice or better. And it was most definitely NOT crispy. Hey, it was either that or the $24 fish and chips. WHAT? Yes. Yes, Washington, DC, we are now in the era of $24 fish and chips. Weep all ye who read that. Also had the beet salad appetizer which tasted like it had come out of a can. This is supposed to be the kind of place that roasts its own fresh beets. Uh...no. Also not particularly tasty. I think this place is cruising on its proximity to Arena Stage and the theater crowd. I can't see why anybody else would make the trip down here. And I certainly will never come back. In a town where my dining expectations get lower and lower each passing week, this wasn't even able to clear the lowest possible bar for a return visit: merely OK food and not outrageous prices. I hope this isn't the case, but they seem to be going downhill. They still have a pretty good burger and decent pizzas with tasty toppings, and the happy hour food specials are worthwhile. However, the last few times I have been here for a meal, both the service and food have been disappointing. My most recent visit was for jazz brunch this past Sunday. The atmosphere and music were great. The waiter was friendly, but we didn't see him much, not even to refill water glasses. We sat at a table in the bar area, so we should have been within sight of him at all times. We ordered an omelet and the salmon eggs benedict. The omelet was tiny, served with just one slice of toast (I think 2 is the norm). The meal looked so sad, only filling about half of the plate. My eggs benedict looked even worse. It was served on an open face bagel, which was a little hard and may have been stale. The salmon, capers, and eggs were only placed on half of the bagel, and the other half was topped with a small amount of poorly spread cream cheese which didn't even cover the bagel. The smoked salmon was actually good, but the dish was further ruined because my poached eggs were cooked hard (not runny in the slightest). We didn't see the waiter soon enough to complain, and went ahead and ate it, because we were really hungry. Another time, I ordered wings which arrive to me cold on the inside. I don't understand how wings that supposedly came from the fryer minutes ago could have been cold - it's possibly a food safety issue if they're just half-thawing previously cooked and frozen wings or something. For the prices they're charging, they really need to do better. I enjoyed their brunch and dinner when they first opened, but the last few times I was not happy. read more

The only reason this place gets one star is for the mac and cheese, which was very good. However, I have never had a more disgusting bathroom experience than here. I went to the bathroom when I arrived, only to find the EXTERIOR area around the bathroom doors smelling of fresh, warm urine. Furthermore, there was a "Caution - Wet Floor" sign posted up outside of the doors to the toilets...which combined with the smell only made me cringe for what I might experience next. I tried the first door (left) and found the floor covered in what I assume was toilet water from a leak, so I passed on that. I then tried the second door after the guy left in there only to find the urinal 1) unable to be flushed and 2) "decorated" with male bodily fluids, and I don't mean pee. DISGUSTING. Came here for Bottomless this past weekend with some friends visiting from out of town. Had a reservation for 10 at 12 pm and had our table ready once we got there. Service was very slow at first but then proceeded to pick up once they noticed myself and my not-so-subtle friend getting annoyed. I think it was a combination of the fact that he and I had started off with bloodys while everyone else did mimosas that threw off the groove. However, once they did start seeing us get restless, we had a crew of 3 servers on hand constantly making sure our glasses were filled. Trust me, we put them to work. Food - I ordered the steak & eggs and had it medium rare - came out perfect. Nibbled on the surrounding plates breakfast pizza and eggs benedict which both were really good as well. Protips - Bottomless here is normally $30 but Travelzoo is offering a $35 bottomless for 2 voucher - which is what lured us in to begin with. What a great special occasion place. Being across from the Safeway/Starbucks/CVS trifecta made me skeptical at first, but the inside is completely modern and romantic, and the food was excellent. My cocktail was delicious-a strawberry basil lemonade at the DC standard $10. Our appetizer- the heirloom tomato and crab- was solid but not mind blowing. It was our entrees that were really impressive- the New York Steak and the Jumping Duck. Both were unbelievably tender with an incredible mix of flavors. Every bite was exciting and satisfying. The chocolate lava dessert was a perfect finish. One thing to note is that good vegetarian options are pretty limited, and portions run a bit small. But in general, this was the best start-to-finish meal I've had in a while. 3 courses + drinks for two people, with tip = $125 read more
