The epidemic of indifference has taken root here in earnest and now appears to be sanctioned by management. Not only are the waits interminable (and unnecessary), but (ADDED BONUS!) no flexibility in food prep. "Yes, of course we use fresh eggs, but we can't make egg whites." But what keeps me coming back for more is the apathetic staff who treat the clientele as though the customers have rudely interrupted the employee's day off at home. In the midst of studying for law school finals, I found myself dying for a change of scenery. I have been a Grandview resident for a couple years now and always wanted to stop by Stauf's...now was the perfect time to see what they had to offer. I now wish I would not have purchased a Tossimo. Who would have thought that the tastiest coffee I have ever had was within a mile of my house? The prices are comparable to Starbucks and the coffee was on another level! I went for the White Chocolate Latte, which had the perfect amount of foam. My only complaint is the lack of seating. I was scoping out the joint for the five or so minutes I was waiting in line. When I was asked "for here or to go?" I shrugged and said I guess it had to be to go because I had nowhere to sit, despite the fact that I had my back pack and was ready to study there for hours. Its close proximity to the Grandview library means that I will be heading to Stauf's daily when I find myself low on energy and in need of a tasty pick-me-up! read more

The hot chocolate is amazing. The staff did, however, forget to make my bagel (they were busy talking) and it arrived stale enough to break a tooth. Otherwise, the free Wi-Fi is great and the atmosphere is comfortable. read more

I love Stauf's atmosphere and food and it's one of the best places to study late. The only real issue I have is that Stauf's seems to be trying to be a study space - lots of wide tables, many outlets, free wifi - but the wifi isn't reliable. Stauf's used to be my go-to spot for studying, but now I only make it out occasionally and it's always a gamble if the Internet is going to work. I'd absolutely be a regular here if the Internet was reliable enough for me to get my work done. read more

Went today for the first time. Latte was cold & the food was terrible - eggs overcooked, toast burnt & sweat potatoes undercooked. Was certainly one of the worst breakfast experiences ever - they brought my meal to the table (33 min wait) and explained they had burnt my wife's meal and would bring hers after preparing another (20 min later). Will never eat there again and would not recommend the place to anyone. read more

Is there a star less than 1? I used to love Stauf's but now I am saying goodbye. It was disgusting inside, the staff had obviously not cleaned in hours and all of the tables wobbled. My friend and I tried multiple different tables and her coffee spilled twice due to uneven legs on the tables. We also had to wipe crumbs off of the tables and when we asked the staff for a rag to wipe them off he told me that he would look for one, he went in the back and didn't come back out. The staff was the major issue, they were unfriendly and lazy. It took nearly 20 minutes for me to get my small black coffee! It didn't help that the cashier tried to flirt with my friend and when she made it clear that she was not interested he just blew us off, took his break and got someone else to take our order. I would recommend getting your coffee anywhere else. read more

Dear Stauf's - we need to talk! I've loved visiting you the past 12 days. Your coffee is great, the breakfast sandwich is spiffy and your location can't be beat. That being said, and I'll just come out with it - you need to take a shower and give a little more attention to your look. The only seats with cushions have foam missing and the vinyl covering is shabby beyond belief. The table surfaces are sticky and missing a cleanable finish. The tables warble around and drive me crazy. Then I get to grab a filthy wedge from the filthy wedge box and fix what should not be broken. Then it's back to eating my blueberry muffin when I should be looking for some hand sanitizer or a anti-bacterial wipe. You are better than this! I can't be the only one that has the guts to tell this to your face. I mentioned this to a manager at the pour over station and she looked at the sad foamless seat cushion like it was the first time she had seen it. You guys have to take the shabby out of the place. Everyone will feel better. It's time to invest in some tables, and a little deep cleaning. The owner will appreciate the fresh new look even though it costs him a little money. How much can foam, vinyl and polyurethane varnish be? Reinvest in your future... I'll be back in September to check on you and cheer the updated look. Love Bill. read more

Went here, not to study or use the cafe, but to purchase the bulk coffee beans they have. I'd been in here before, but when I brought the bf he immediately said it smelled like heaven. This place doesn't have that dirty brewed coffee/cafe food odor that lingers on your clothes after you leave panera or starbucks; it has a real coffee bean smell. The employee who helped us was very nice and incredibly knowledgeable about coffee beans (as I would expect). He helped us pick out a few good roasts to try. After years of fawning over our Keurig, we finally got a nice french press. We got a couple 1/4 lb bags of different flavors and the guy ground them right up for us there. It's nice because their grinders have different settings, so the coffee doesn't get ground up too fine for the press. The guy helping us even gave us lots of tips on purchasing a grinder for home so that we can just buy the beans and grind it fresh when we want. Overall, a very enjoyable experience and helpful staff. The coffee may cost a little more but I really think that's a small price to pay considering the quality. read more

Stauf's has great coffee and good food - why only 2 stars then? Because they are terrible at 'crowd control'. When I go to a coffee shop and bring my laptop, I'll make sure to make a purchase at least every 30 minutes to pay for my table space. At Stauf's, people buy one cup of coffee and think that entitles them to take up a table for two hours; Stauf's seems fine with these people who sit and take up space for extended periods of time without making additional purchases. Today I went in and ordered coffee and lunch; between waiting in line to order food and then waiting for my food to be ready I was there for about 25 minutes, and I still couldn't get a seat. The frustrating thing was that there were numerous people sitting at tables with just free glasses of water in front of them. I've also shared tables with people before at busy times, but today the people I asked were just not in a sharing mood apparently. I finally had to ask an employee to wrap up my food to go since I didn't have anywhere to sit and eat it. To the employee's credit, she was apologetic and did offer to dry a table on the outdoor patio for me, but given that the temp was in the 50's and it was still drizzling I declined the offer. I don't think I will be returning to Stauf's anytime soon; no matter how good the coffee is it's not worth the seating hassle. read more

im a tea drinker and a coffee shop studier....so ill put it simply: stauf's is heaven. free wifi. great breakfast on the weekend (i always get the lox bagel with the poached egg...can't be beat). the bagels are always fresh, and their vast tea selection puts me in paradise. the staff is always so friendly, helpful, and most importantly knowledgeable about the products. i was sad when i had to leave columbus for many reasons, this place is certainly one of them. read more
