Utter chaos. Stopped on a weeknight. Not super busy. Seemed enough employees. But complete confusion & disorder behind the counter.

I just picked up 5 to go orders. They were all crammed into 1 bag. 2 bowls of chili on the bottom! By the time I got home the bag had the bottom soaked from the chili that didn't have kids on correctly. 35$ in food all ruined when it spilled out on the ground! Called the store and put on hold for 28 minutes before I hung up because management never came to the phone! Worst service and management! read more

Horrible! Horrible! Horrible! First of all, it took them almost 15 minutes to seat us ... And we were the only ones standing there and 70% of the tables were empty ... Although 50% of those tables were filled with dirty dishes. Once we finally got seated, it took another 15 minutes for Angel to come take our drink order after she complained about having to be there because she was supposed to get off an hour ago. She took our drink and meal orders and then the LONG WAIT BEGAN as we waited for over 15 minutes for drinks ... They never arrived and Angel was nowhere around ... So we left! I give the the rating of two because first of all I order a meal around 12am not knowing that their "systems reboot" around that time. I waited for a totally of 15 minutes for my food. I bought chicken tenders and fries etc. when I received my food both order of fries were cold as ice and I didn't receive in sauce for my tenders even though I reminded the employee three times to give me double honey mustard. I've stopped at this location several times before and I've never had service this bad before. Our waitress acted as though she didn't want to take our order. It took almost 30 minutes for burgers and fries. (May I add that the place wasn't close to being crowded) we asked for refills and never got them. It took the waitress another 30 minutes to come back. We ordered shakes and I almost left because it took so long. I don't know what was worse, the lack luster customer service by the staff or waiting for the not so spectacular food. Fast service, good food. Staff is friendly and not too much negative. Fries seemed a little cold but would definitely go back and recommend.

I waited forever in the drive thru, then when I got my food; my double steak burger was incorrect and the bun was hard; I sent it back and was given the same burger and asked after stating, "this is the same burger", she replied, "oh, I didn't know you wanted a new burger"....Like, seriously...why would I pay for a meal to be incorrect??? Decided to grab breakfast here on my way back up to Atlanta and wish I hadn't. The person taking my order was rude. I sat at the drive thru "order here" speaker for about a minute before having to lean out my window to ask if they were open. On their menu it says Breakfast bowls, and biscuits and gravy was listed. So I said: can I get a biscuits and gravy breakfast bowl? The man tells me it's not a breakfast bowl...... Please arrange your menu properly (my thoughts). I continued my order and the guy didn't come back on to repeat my order or to give me the total, so I asked him could I get the total. Nastiest voice comes back through the speaker: I'm ringing it up right now. Then he repeats my order without the total and tells me to drive up to the window. I sat at the window for nearly 10 minutes before he even came to take my money or bring me my food. My food was ice cold when I got it. Stopped in because we have always had good experiences at Steak n Shakes. Not this time. First impression was that the employees just didn't give a damn. While I ordered takeout my wife went to the ladies room and discovered overflowing garbage cans, empty hand soap dispenser, urine all over toilet seats, and paper towels stuffed in the toilets. She reported this to one of the employees and all she got was a shrug and an explanation of how it was somebody else's fault. Topped it off with them giving us the wrong order when we were the only guests in the building. Jeez. read more

not sure what has happened but hit or miss has come to completely miss every time - last 3 visits have been horrible and just walked in and waited for a good amount of time and was never acknowledged after being looked at a couple times - sorry but I won't be back.... read more

cold like rubber french fries and really small amount. burger with enough oil that I could run my car on for a month. never again!!!!!

Great food. Slow staff. The last three times I've been I've waited over 30 minutes in the drive thru, for my order to still be wrong.

AWESOME burgers for the price. and the milkshakes are YUUUUMMMYY. It's a step up from your typical fast food. I am a fan for sure. I've never had any problems with this location. I can't say it was the best service I've ever received, but hey you get what you pay for. read more

Actually I can't say that the food was horrible or the service was slow. Neither occurred except that the fries didn't have any salt. The problem I had was me and a co-worker purchased the exact same item(tea for her and coke for me) that was advertised as $5.79. When she got to the window her total was $5.35 and mines was $6.20. Believe me a dollar won't make or break me but the cashier nor the manager couldn't give me a reason except "you got a coke". That's fine but how do you pay a less price than advertised. Lack of customer service on January 1, 2019 between 1:30am and 4:00am at Westover Blvd's location (only establishment in the city)---arrived at approximately 1:30am and sat down. No acknowledgement of our presence for at least an hour with a menu or anything. We eventually asked for menus from 1 of the 2 people working the dining area. Because of the time lapse the decision was made to place orders to go. Incorrect orders were received about an hour or more later which consisted of orders from our party of 12 in TWO bags. We had to sort through the two bags to give each person what they had ordered only to find that everything ordered had not been placed in either of the two bags or was incorrectly prepared. There was much confusion with the total cost of orders for guests of our party of 12 i.e. one order for fries and a milkshake went from $12 to $9 to $6 to the male worker returning the cash to the guest; another member of our party did not get all of their food but was expected to pay for what was not received. This member of our group left the place leaving an over payment which included food not received. Additional information --a manager was not present to speak to as we were told there was not a manager there. We were also told "the workers left" and "yall knew it was crowded" by employees at Steak and Shake on this night.....star rating of 1 is more than we would like to give. I'm just getting back to work, LATE, from lunch. It's 1:37, I was due back at 1:00. My husband, one of his coworkers, and I decided to have Steak 'n Shake for lunch today. We were seated almost immediately, orders taken, got our drinks and my chili, then we waited...and waited...and waited. Seems the cook cleared our order off the screen without making it. So while everyone else around us was getting their food, we were still waiting. The waitress may have noticed if she weren't busy socializing in the corner with the other waitresses. Finally, someone realized we didn't have our food...maybe the ticket still hanging in the window was a clue...then we waited longer for our order to be cooked. Finally, we got our food, ate, and as my husband was paying he was asked how he was doing, he said "Late" and got a lip smack from the cashier. Guess we can add this one to the growing list of places in Albany, GA not worth the trouble! read more

My husband and I ate steakburgers and fries Monday night 04/14/14. By midnight my husband became very ill with stomach pain and diarrhea. Then, the vomiting came and lasted all day. I then became very ill around 330am with terrible stomach pain and had diarrhea, I had vomiting as well the whole day. We literally could not move, chills, hot, and aching all over. I am back at work today 04/16/14 but, not feeling 100%, my husband is out sick again today. He had a double steakburger and I had a single. So, it is possible he had a double dose of food poisoning. I will never eat at Steak N Shake again. I dont even want to hear that name again. read more

Service was absolutely horrible. Waited 30 minutes to get a menu and drink. Then another 20 to take our order. Then wanted to order milkshakes and waited 45 minutes. There were only 3 other customers in the restaurant and about 4 servers. The food was okay but not worth the experience. This has been my experience everytime I have came to dine in. Would not recommend to anyone. read more
