Just moved to Dallas for work and was so excited when I saw there was a steak and shake so close to where I live. The first time I tried it out it wasn't a terribly long wait but still a little too much waiting about 25 minutes for one milkshake and a burger but I love the food so I didn't think it was too terrible. But I stopped by today after work because it was one of the only places open and I waited in the lobby for about 15 minutes along with a few other people even through there were multiple booths open and then we all got told that it would be at least a 45 min to hour long wait for anything due to such high volume EVEN THOUGH there wasn't even that many people there??? Sooo disappointed. I would definitely not recommend going to this particular location. Especially since they are right next to six flags and probably receive a lot of "high-volume" nights. read more

Been giving this place to many chances, they're always running out of items and on one occasion I asked for chili cheese fries and I got normal fries. Went inside to ask for my chili cheese fries and they simply just didn't want to make the chili so they thought they could get away with giving my normal fries and going home. This place needs entirely new management. Or simply needs to be shut down, it's a pathetic attempt to run a chain restaurant. read more

Their shakes are always on point. Many traditional flavors but many new and exciting flavors to try as well. Their burgers are honestly hit or miss. Occasionally I'll get one nicely made but more often than not they are sloppily put together and covered in way too much sauce. It spills out of the burger and causes the buns to get super soggy and difficult to eat. I personally love their fries. They are very thin cut. They are not your typical French fries but it's nice to venture out sometimes! I recommend the cheese fries but make sure to ask for the cheese on the side, otherwise you do not get enough to enjoy with all of your fries. If you are going here make sure you allot yourself plenty of time. Service is anything but fast. I would not classify Steak n Shake as a fast food restaurant even though they do have a drive through. read more

This is the worst I have seen. Waited in drive through for over 30 mins and once at speaker to order, I was told it was an hour wait because all the meat was frozen. Listen to the car in front of me they told them the lobby was full And they were serving them first but I was told frozen meat. This place is the worst at lying to customers. read more

When I am thinking about fast food places to choose for lunch/dinner this place usually slips my mind. The burgers can either be out of this world, fresh and tasty or cold and mediocre. I rarely have any problems with the shakes - my favorites would be the cookies and cream or mint chocolate chip. Almost every time I go to this particular location I have to wait quite awhile for my food or shake. The most recent visit I had to wait over 15 minutes in the drive thru just for a shake. There was only one other car in front of mine at the drive thru to begin with. The lady at the window forgot to give me my credit card back and all of my shakes toppings were caked at the bottom of the cup. This place is hit or miss but all-in-all it is a decent place for a good burger and treat. Just expect to wait for your order quite awhile. read more

The process is broken somewhere as it took 20 mins to order when there are just 2 cars ahead of me. Management needs to go look at other restaurants and their efficiency and mirror the process. Your restaurant will fail the way it's going. read more

If 0 stars were an option, that is what I would give them. The first visit was 45 minutes for 3 shakes. My second visit (and my last visit) I have to blame myself because I knew better. 50 minutes from the time I ordered on the app until I received my shakes. Had every table been full and they had a line around the building in the drive thru, I would have definitely understood. That was not the case. Hire another shake maker or buy another shake machine or whatever you do to make shakes. Or tell me on my app it's going to be 50 minutes until my order is ready instead of 15. This is our second time here. Our first time was good so we decided to come back and it was nothing like the first. The place was not full at all, the tables and floors were dirty. Just to sit us down was like 10 min. To get our drink order was another 15 min then we told her we were ready to order she leaves and then comes back took another 6 min. It took about almost an hour to get our food. Just when I was getting up to leave she shows up with our food. The table next to us who got there before us, just got up and left. The burgers are good, not epicurean delights but good. This place is great for kids and for the after the bar closes crowd. Hopefully not at the same time. I am not a big fan of their fries, which always seem to be cold. The shakes and breakfasts are my favorites. Again, hopefully not together. read more

Where to even start with this place. If there's more than 2 cars in the drive thru you might as well keep driving because you will definitely be there for 45 minuets before you get your food. If you do happen to get to order the people they have here are so unbelievably rude. They are annoyed with everything you order and you feel like you can't even add to your order without feeling rushed to end your order. This use to be our go to place, we might just stop going completely. One time we waited over an hour and half to get our food and decided to just leave. The drive through takes just as long it seems. One night at about 1 I was really craving a burger and online says they're open 24/7. Jasmine was our waitress and omg she was the worst, only reason I tipped her was Bc im a server and I tip everyone no matter what. Don't go here unless you just want to be cheap. I'm always skeptical of reviews of a chain restaraunt, especially that of the half fast food fare. I can say all the negative reviews are spot on. I placed an order online so it would be ready when I got there. Upon arriving I saw they were busy, so I expected a little longer wait. No problem. My order said it should be ready at 7:57. I left there past 8:30. They lost my ticket. Would bring 1/3 of my order up and I had to tell them 3 more times items were missing. I understand it's next to Six Flags and other amusement parks which could cause them to be busy, but we shouldn't have to wait 20 minutes to be seated when there are 2-3 empty tables that just need to be cleaned off. Food was fantastic, but service was even better. I downloaded app, to try and redeem for a free milkshake, but I forgot my credit card so was unable to qualify to get it for free. I had only enough cash to pay for my meal and tip. My waitress, Jasmine, took money out of her tips, to pay for my milkshake. And in doing so, also lost the money I had planned to tip her with. I insisted I did not need shake, and pleaded with her that she didn't have to do that, but she just asked that I remember there are still good people out there, and that I pay an act of kindness forward in the future. Which I absolutely will. So if you eat here, ask for jasmine. She is a wonderful waitress, and even better person. Will definitely be returning to repay her in the future.
