This classic 60s style diner is in its class a 5-Star stop. Think In-n-out with a little more variety. Like In-n-out, the prices are very affordable. 1.50-$5 burgers. We got a Wisconsin steak burger heaped with grilled onion and cheese and served with shoestring fries (onion rings for $.75 more) for only $4. The $3 classic shakes are incredible and large enough to share. While the price is comparable to Taco Bell or Sonic, the quality of the food is vastly better and the servers were all very friendly and patient in spite of our 5 antsy children who'd been in a car most of the day. The cleanliness was lacking in the restrooms, though we stopped at the end of a busy shift at the end of a weekend at the end of spring break. I would still only drop to 4 stars if it was the same on a quiet day because of the kindness of the servers and food quality and large portions sizes. read more

Went today & waited at least 40 minutes in the drive through for 2 burgers & 2 fries by the time we got to the window the food was cold. We mentioned it to the lady at the window & all she said was sorry & shut the window. We could see bags of food ready to give out I'm sure ours wasn't the only cold food given out after us. Steak and shake is usually great. This location reeks , literally. It smelled disgusting. My guess is that the grease traps have never been cleaned. The bathrooms are even worse. Fifty and smell worse than a pit toilet at a crowded fair. The health department should investigate this place. Other reviews also complain about the smell. Stopped for lunch yesterday and was totally disappointed. We were directed to kiosks where we could place our order. We placed the order, then after a substantial wait, our number was called and we had to retrieve it ourselves. Apparently by doing this, they were able to get rid of all the wait staff. I picked up my order and there were no plastic forks. I went back to the counter, asking for 2 forks and I was asked for a proof of purchase. I ordered a milk shake and the glass was not completely full. In the past a meal at Steak and Shake was fun... like stepping back into the past. This meal was such a disappointment that we will not be returning. I suspect that unless things improve, this restaurant will be closed in the near future. read more

I can't believe the horrible service. Long wait and the worker actually was on her cell phone while working drive thru! Waited over 5 minutes to order at the speaker then to be told there is a 20minute wait and it was longer and then the fries were so cold I couldn't eat them! Never go to this location they give all Steak 'n Shakes a bad name. And the place was so dirty there were fries all over the floor it's was disgusting. We went here around 11:50 pm & they said their shake machine was broken. We later found out that they lie about their machines being broken during late nights quite often so they don't have to make shakes. We were then stuck in the long line for about 10mins before we could get out. They have 9 machines so the probability of all of them being broken is little to none. CHECK REVIEWS ON FACEBOOK PEOPLE 3 of my co-workers and myself ate here today. It took about 15 minutes for ALL of us to feel sick. 2 out of 4 were in sweats with vomiting and diarrhea. The other 2 were sick to there stomachs the remainder of the day. We called and talked to the so called manager on duty. She was very rude. I was told that it was impossible that the food that we all ate made us sick and that she would not refund our money no matter what. After arguing over the phone for awhile I was told to call the GM tomorrow and was hung up on. I recorded the conversation and will be updating with another review. We work right by this location and eat here at least twice a week. I've never had a problem eating here and have always been treated great. Simple order of a patty melt w no onions and a half and half tea. Told Marisol TWICE no onions and sandwich was loaded with them and tea was syrup sweet. Not being familiar with neighborhood either, told staff three times it would have been easier to find at 8pm had their outside life gets and street signage been turned on. I was told they were busy enough and it didn't matter. This is my third bad experience with Steak & Shakes in this area from Lake Mary to Daytona. If I want it that bad, I'll drive to Orlando. Steak & Shake is the best fast food in the area in my book. My wife and I both got double steakburgers and fries with water to drink. The bill was $8.50! That is much less than other fast food places but the flavor and food is much better. The steakburger is a good cut of meat and the bun is grilled just right. The fries are thin cut and crispy. The food was perfect. I love steak N Shake food. The location was not the Steak N Shake I remember. No table service, order only on a kiosk by the front door which was a cumbersome experience. Once your food is ready somebody tells of a speaker your number and you have to go get it. Place was mostly empty on a Saturday at dinner time. Oh my gosh, since moving from Florida I have forgotten what a real, wholesome, fattening, delicious milkshake tastes like. Vacationing down in Daytona, we absolutely had to come here so I could get my fix. I know Floridians hate the snow birds, but we can't help but come down especially when you guys have it so good and you don't even realize. I've been to the Naples, FL location twice and the service was a disaster despite the delicious food. This time, it took a little while to get us seated, but our server was friendly, polite, and enthusiastic. He seemed a little bit nervous, but he was working very hard. They have apparently been running out of avocado and bacon since Irma, and since bacon is prominently featured on the menu, I can only imagine the amount of harassment staff has been getting over it, which explains the nerves. The parking lot is a bit odd because there are homeless men that walk through and that camp out nearby in the adjacent empty parking lot late at night, but there is also a drive-through if that makes you nervous. This place really takes advantage of being the only steak and sheak around its area. I have had issues with this location in the past but at this point its almost every time now. Missing fries, missing sauce, but today I go back because I love steak n sheak I asked for a water today and got handed a cup of ice. My receipt even says water. If you can't serve me water for whatever reason then why didn't you just explain that to me? Very disappointing to see they have lost their customer service. I downloaded this app specifically so I could review this place. Let me start by saying that the gentleman who took our orders and was working the grill was fantastic, and kept his composure under what I am sure was a very stressful night at work. You rock dude! Whoever your female co-worker was, you should be fired immediately and never work in the food industry again after what happened. Let me break it down for you. My party gets inside, no dining room service available and the only way to order was takeout. Whatever, still getting food at the end of the night. No milkshakes either though, unfortunate. I order food, trying to order something simple so that it doesn't cause any disruptions in the kitchen since I know they're definitely understaffed. I ordered a steak burger and fries, water for the drink. I go to sit down at the counter, when a woman working there goes to complain to the cook that they shouldn't be taking any more orders. There's a bag of food on a table behind them, she looks inside of it, then asks me what I ordered. I tell her, and she says "Perfect", then forces the bag onto me. What do you know, it's what I ordered, although it's cold cause it's obviously been sitting there unclaimed for probably 20 minutes. Bickering then ensues between the two of them, with the woman going out of her way to throw out my ticket and claiming they never got it in the first place. While this was all going down I was thinking "No way did they throw out my ticket. I'll just wait for my order and keep this bag with cold food to give to a drunken friend later." But no, sure enough they gave me cold food in substitution of my actual order to create a shortcut for themselves later on. This is the most baffling dining experience I've ever had, next time I'll know to come earlier in the day and not 1AM when the restaurant is properly staffed. Note to Steak N Shake: If you're not going to properly staff your restaurant for 24 hours, don't stay open for 24 hours. read more
