    No shakes!

Has really gone downhill! You now order on screens - walked in unknowingly and sat down and no one even said a thing! Silence from behind the counter as we realized there were no menus or anything on the tables. Sign on the door that they don't have milkshakes! Tables clearly aren't being wiped down between costumers as some were messy and did not see one employee enter the dining room while we were eating. Appeared to be 3 employees- no interaction or talking at all other than names announced when orders were ready. If you like going and having a human less meal this is the place for you. The food did taste good and order was accurately made. There was no iced tea option either. Only soft drinks and water.

Let's get a few things out of the way - the parking is ridiculous, the service is slow and inattentive, the dining area is usually unkept and you'll rarely see the manager anywhere other than tending the cash register or standing in back of the kitchen area with their back to you as you wait to pay your check. I agree these are all factual and good reasons to just drive by and find another place to grab a burger and fries. So let me be clear I love their burgers, to me this is the In n Out Burger of the east, these burgers are a few levels above the big 3 national brands any day of the week, but their management plan leaves a lot to be desired and I find that's true at most of their many locations I've eaten at. I love the flavor of the thin patties cooked on that old seasoned greasy grill top just a few inches away from the toasting buns - make mine a triple with cheese all the way - pickles, tomato and thinly sliced onion served up hot and fresh. I can't say I've ever been disappointed with the food so I just ignore the rest of the atrocities. Ordering a ultimate banana shake with real fruit will help I promise...

Steak & Shake is an awesome place to grab a quick and cheap lunch. There is a menu where all meals are under $4! How can you beat that? I went with the Chicken Fingers & Fries- which were both good. I also took advantage of the 2 PM to 4 PM happy hour- when all drinks are half price- including their famous milkshakes! I ordered the Chocolate Brownie- YUMMMM The food and atmosphere was great- but the service left ALOT to be desired. My group of 4 was seated quickly. After about 5 minutes the waitress greeted us and took our milkshake order. 10 minutes later we put in our food order- no milk shakes in sight. Our food came pretty quickly- still no shakes. So I asked the waitress- who responded with an attitude. After finishing our food, I asked if the shakes could be put in to go cups, as we still had not received them- the waitress unwillingly accepted my request. We finally got our shakes- which were good, but not worth the wait and attitude.

Garlic double burger I bought to go vs sit in dining...blah

Kids love the shakes. Great place to grab a burger. Reasonably quick to get our order.

We visit this place every time we vacation here. It's always been a good environment and food only came out wrong once out of three visits.

This is the place to go if you want crispy, grease logged, super thin burgers. The grease was running all over and saturated the bag.

I asked to have them made extra crispy before getting tossed into the sauce and that's exactly what I got. The sauce was spicy and flavorful, not so hot that you can't taste the "Zingers" at all. The entire staff was friendly. Great service from my server! The hostess opened the door for a disabled person entering before me and held it open for me as well. The manager opened the door for me as I was leaving and thanked me for coming. Awesome dining experience all around! I've been to this location several times and have not been disappointed during my visits.

We waited about 5 minutes after being given menus before a "server" came over. This man seemed to think we were there for entertainment. Everything that came out of his mouth was loud and somewhat irritating. He wouldn't stop with the poor humor and refused it seemed to just act professionally. Placing our order was uncomfortable. We ordered a burger and salad for my wife and 12 wings for myself. When ordering, the server kept saying "AND" after we would state what we wanted. He was trying to push us to order more? He continued to a point that we almost got up and walked out. What he failed to realize was that we were out for a simple and quiet late afternoon meal, not a Gong Show audition by him. Almost 35 minutes passed. Yes, 35 minutes. The server stopped by and believe it or not, grabbed the table side ordering device and had to check to see if HE actually put in the order. He left and returned about 5 minutes later with the order. The wings were inedible. The first thing I noticed is they were dried out. Not even warm on the outside yet somewhat steamy on the inside. The sauce was dried out on most of them. And then came the taste test. Have you ever eaten wings that were old? The wings were so salty I almost spit them out. I held back due to being in a public area. The worst. Salt beyond understanding. I tried a second and the same thing. I had my wife try part of another and she gagged. My wife's burger was tasteless. It fell apart, all 1/4 inch thickness. Nothing better than a low end Walmart frozen patty. When I attempted to get the server to raise the issue, he was too busy socializing and cracking jokes with a table a few feet away. He and another server were telling all sorts of stories with people at the table. It took us around 7 minutes to finally flag down a bus boy to go get his attention. When the server came over, he addressed me initially as though I was making a mistake, almost questioning my concern. He asked to replace the wings and I said no. What was served was awful. The items weren't prepared with the wrong sauce or undercooked, these were "off". It took the server over 10 more minutes to remove the item from our bill. As we were moving out of the booth to leave, the manager came over and couldn't care any less. She made a non-serious gesture by asking if there was something she could order for us, AS WE WERE LEAVING. She demonstrated no concern, no apology, no empathy etc. She never came over to even ask for our input from the original issue. She didn't care, plain and simple. She dismissed us as though she was wasting her time even talking to us. I have a gift card balance of around $14 that will forever go unspent. I'm not sure what happened to this place but it's a complete mess when it comes to food and professionaiism.

Typically, I'm someone who automatically goes for their famous chicken and waffles, but this time around I wanted to switch things up and try something completely different. I opted for the Meat Lovers Scramble Bowl, and made a quick substitution: I swapped out the standard hollandaise sauce for their sausage gravy. It was the absolute right move! The bowl was packed with so much incredible flavor and was super filling. Since I was dining alone, I grabbed a seat at the bar. The staff here was incredibly nice and attentive--more than one person stopped by throughout my meal just to ensure I was taken care of and didn't need a single thing. If you are looking for a fantastic, hearty, home-cooked meal in Daytona, I would definitely recommend checking this place out. I won't wait so long to return next time!
