I have always had good service and food from this location. They great milkshakes. Where they fail is their breakfast. I had a coupon for biscuits and gravy and thought I would give them a try. That was a mistake, the biscuit was hard on the bottom and the gravy was like pepper flavored gray water with sausage pieces, not good. My son has tried to use gift card for over a year now and every time we go the drive thru is closed and the restaurant is closed. We just went to try to use it and get milk shakes and the girl said sorry the drive thru is closed. I wonder why they have closed it because it is never open. Normally Steak and Shake gets lower reviews from me, but this time I would have to say otherwise. My friends and I came in a group of eight about midnight on a Friday, and getting a table was not a problem, they put a few tables together right off. I was leery, but our waitress was on top of things the whole time. She kept our water glasses full, and took our order promptly. The food arrived hot and on time, and as everyone ordered a shake, those came almost immediately after the food arrived. I was surprised, as there is usually poor service from this chain. Each seat was listed out separately on the check, so we were able to avoid the tangle of who puts what on what card and such, so overall, nothing to complain about on this night! read more

Being new to the area, I had never heard of a "Steak 'n Shake" so I was excited to finally get to try one! I was not disappointed! When we walked in, I was surprised to find it was a diner style burger joint where someone seats you and you have a server. It looked like a typical fast food place from the outside. So in we went. The decor was rock 'n roll meets 60's vinyl in red black and white. Comfy enough! The prices were low, and the food was satifying. This certainly isn't a Mom & Pop place, come prepared for typical chain style quality burgers (perfectly acceptable at this price point) and a neat selection of milkshake flavor combinations plus a few rotating seasonal flavors like "peppermint chocolate chip" during winter and "red velvet cake" which was really really good by the way, during the month of Feb. They offer sliders and burgers loaded with more toppings than one can shake a stick at! Their claim to fame is the steak burger; a very thin patty of ground beef of apparent "steak quality" grilled and stacked high. They like to stack those puppies apparently! Many of their burgers feature multiple patties, and all of the different burgers can be customized to your preferred number up or down which I find helpful being a one patty only girl. They offer burgers with real cheese, unique ingredients like pretzel buns and shaved ham, and others you can imagine as well as sliders with lots of different sauce options you are welcomed to mix and match. Their fries are shoe string thin, which I do not particularly care for, but they are still enjoyable! This restaurant made my "Extra Mile Club" list for Restaurants that cater to the kid's experience being that they provide a cute little gift to every visiting child! It consists of a cute little banana boat soda shoppe style hat, which contains a bunch of neat things they will find upon opening such as a pack of adorable mini-crayons (really tiny!!) a sheet of stickers, a fold out card stock diner car and a little character to put into the car. My son loves it! It makes a huge difference when businesses go the extra mile to make sure our kiddos feel special while dining out! So, if you have kids, they'll love this place. I recommend this place as a great step up from typical fast food, and encourage those with kids to bring the whole family. Check your local coupon section for the awesome deals they publish each week too! I never have mine, of course, when we go but if you're better than couponing than I am you'll love them! We are from out of state where the local Steak 'n Shake closed down, so we were very excited to see one we could stop at. We ran in to grab 2 burgers to go while the rest of our party was at Olive Garden across the street. It took over 30 minutes to get our order, our fries were cold, and our burgers were wrong. Our party at Olive Garden was ready long before us, even though we were at a "fast food" restaurant. The service was slow, the food is sub par, and we are disappointed. Also, the cook needs a belt. Placed an online order and after checking on how much longer it would be twice, it finally came 35 minutes after the time it was due. If I hadn't already paid for it I would've walked out. When I got home my shake was so thick it was literally ice cream. I always thought shakes should be drinkable? It wasn't, I had to use a spoon. Everyone waiting on a take out order was waiting forever, but for some reason they just never got to my online order without me asking for it. If you order here- don't do it online. I have visited this establishment several times in the past few months and have given up on any hope of the service getting any better. I thought at first it was just the time of day or not enough staff but it isn't getting any better. I used to be able to go through the drive thru and get my meal relatively in a short period of time, but just a couple months ago every time I went I would get the message "It is a 20-30 minute to get your food." The last time which was only 2 weeks ago, I was told it would be 15-20 minutes. I waited a few minutes then had to ask if she was going to take my order and she said it would be 15-20 minutes to take my order. This was dinner time! Just 2 days ago, I went inside with a friend. We were greeted, but the girl didn't come out behind the counter. The only waitress I could see never acknowledged us. There were only 5 tables being waited on at the beginning of lunch time. No one said they would be with us shortly or spoke to us again. We walked out. On top of all this, my granddaughter's school had a fundraiser in December for which they never received their check for the school! Love Steak and Shake but this one is a disaster. We only went in for shakes. After a 30 minute wait, they arrived in styrofoam glasses (everyone else's was in glass) and were total soup. Mine tasted like ice milk and had almonds instead of pecans. My daughter's tasted like chemicals were in it. I don't know if something had gone bad. It was a simple chocolate shake but very metallic tasting (maybe bad malt). Unclean looking cooks with no hair nets, handling raw meat while also handing things to customers. We are forced to frequent this place because my 3 yr old loves it. Food is average fast food and milkshakes are good but to go inside the restaurant makes you feel as if you are gambling with your health. The place is a disaster. The floor is disgusting, tables sit with dirty dishes on them, workers have absolutely disgusting filth on their aprons, etc. I understand it is fast food or whatever but come on. When our kids were little, they loved steak and shake. Now that we have grand children, we hesitate to take them. We have seen food quality go down, as well as cleanliness and staff. Yesterday we walked in with two grandchildren, around 3 p.m., with the majority of tables empty and uncleared. Only a handful of people were there eating and we were told, in a rather abrupt and nasty way, that it would be a 20 minute wait. We and everyone who walked in just before or after us left to go elsewhere. This is no way to run a business, gain or keep customers. What has happened? This is not the only time recently we had a negative experience at this restaurant, including finding it closed for no apparent reason. We went to another restaurant and within 20 minutes we were seated, received our drinks and had our food order taken. Next time, we will go to the competition instead, and will not give Steak n Shake a chance. read more

I have had pleasant dining experiences here, and I have had experiences like the one that unfolded tonight. Just before 9pm I ordered 4 shakes from the drive through for which I had 2 bogo coupons. I pull to the window and the girl tells me 8 dollars and change when I hand her my credit card. After waiting for an additional 20 mins and doing my best to give the befifit of the doubt while I try and ignore the honking vehicles behind me, I am handed my drink carrier. Consisting of two already melted shakes. We arrive at home and put our now 4 melted shakes into the freezer. A few hours later I realize my receipt says $14.66. When I call the store and ask to speak to a manager I am asked to hold, which turns into five minutes of me listening to the young man take drive through orders. I hang up wait a few minutes and call back only to have the manager yell out, "it is going to be awhile." As I said in the beginning I have had good experiences but this is unacceptable! read more

Went there several times and everything was normal, there was one time when we waited for 1 hr for our food, but the slip had gotten lost in the kitchen but the manager came out and apoloigzed about everything and gave us everything for free. Which waiting i didnt like to much since we did have our 1 year old which was getting really hungry but bc they did want to make it up to us and fix the problem i still give them 5 stars everyone makes mistakes and no place is perfect. I went through the drive thru and said "I will take a Frisco melt and THAT WILL BE ALL" The cashier asked "and that will be all"? I said yes, even though I hate having to repeat myself or give the answer to something someone clearly heard. Anyways, so at this point it's clear all that I want is a Frisco melt. The cashier then asks " do you want fries with that?" I drive up without answering. I know that when I get to the window that she will ask me if I want fries again, despite how strange that is for her to do. Well she doesn't disappoint. When I get to the window she says " oh did you want fries with that" I just sit there not answering. She just stands there, looking at me, trying to force me to continue answering questions about if my order is complete despite me saying " that is all" and her confirming this. So, I'm not answering, she's looking expecting an answer, so I say "did I say that I wanted fries?" She says "I don't know I didn't hear you answer" So what do I have to say for it to be clear that im done order? If I say "that will conclude my order, and no fries" I'm sure that they would say "would you like anything to drink" lol If I said that's all, stop asking me questions.
