Seriously? First time I've ever been to a Steak 'n Shake, and I'm incredibly disappointed. I ordered a #6, the cheesy cheddar (?), which is supposed to have EXTRA cheese- right??? LOL. BIG JOKE. There was one TINY joke of a piece of cheese (pic included), as well as the whole order- including the fries- being cold. This is ridiculous. And the young lady working the drive-thru was horrendous. Overall the food is pretty cheap in price and great quality. I have attended this location various times in both the day and night most of my experiences being positive. Lately they seem to close their lobby for Dine In during the night with no explanation given to the customers, they just lock the door. This is the third time this has occurred to me this month. 1/22/2019 (12:52 am) Establishment was Closed 2/8/2018 (12:35am) Received the food at 1:15am burger was cold and made incorrectly, the fries were over cooked almost burnt. We've seen 2 tables walk out due to lack of service. But we have waited for our server to come to our table. She has came to the table 3 times in the hour we have been here. We have sat here with drinks empty. Still she hasn't came. She took our drink order, dropped the drinks off and then took our food order. That was it. Some other waitress brought our food out. It's not a hard job and it's not like the place was busy. Because 1. I've been a waitress at a place 10 times busier and 2. There are 4 tables in the whole place. Waited to be seated while all the employees ignored us. Took 5 minutes to be seated and we were the only ones there. Once we got seated we ordered water and told the waiter to give us a couple minutes to look over the menu. 10 minutes went by and we have been ready to order for the last 8 minutes and the waiter just kept trying to avoid looking at us. Some had only ordered milkshakes. 1 person wanted a refund, manager came out & did that, but charged him for the drink he did get then the manager disappeared to the back with all the people still waiting. Everytime I come to this location I have to repeat my order multiple times due to the highschool kids working there half ass listening while doing drive thru. I'm asked to wait for my food every time. And everytime they forget something in the bag. Today was my last and final attempt. After driving all the way home, I discovered my bags had less than half my order, I was told to simply "drive back for my burger" by the oh so helpful manager with an oh so helpful attitude. The Steak N Shake at 5020 Overton Ridge Blvd Fort Worth, TX 76132 was busy. I didn't mind waiting, but the service was still horrible. Even when we finally got to the drive-up window, which took forever, because , well covid and black Friday. Still, we kept our good humor (pardon the pun), because all my wife and I wanted was two of their shakes during the happy hour. We even made it easy on them ordering the holiday Egg Nog shakes. I paid the price and expected the shakes, but was asked to move up with the assurance they'd bring it out the order out to me within a couple of minutes. This seemed odd, they had already had plenty of time to make the shakes from the time we ordered to the time the other cars pulled past the checkout. But trying to be understanding of their rush, I agreed and pulled up. I watched the server (a certain Terrence R whose name appeared on the receipt) come out into the parking lot with bags of food and a tray of shakes. He started heading to various cars in the parking lot to deliver food and shakes. I was getting a bit frustrated, especially when none of the shakes were headed our way. After delivering items to three other vehicles he left the parking lot and reentered the store. I took a couple of deep breaths to calm down and my wife and I assured each other it would be okay. THEY WERE BUSY! The cars were stacking up behind me in the drive thru. When Terrence came back several minutes later he did bring our shakes, and since the line behind me was building I kindly set my shake in the cup holder and pulled out. When I was finally able to take a drink if my shake, I couldn't. It wasn't a shake; just ice cream with a little whipped cream and nutmeg on top. It was then I notices that the cup wasn't barely half full. They hadn't made us shakes. The cups had only ice cream with out flavoring or liquid. Since we were already on the road home (half way across town) I pulled over and tried to call. A machine told me they were not answering the phone at the time. I filled out the customer feedback form on the corporate website. NOTHING. NO RESPONSE! I called the very next morning to bring the matter to the manager's attention. The morning manager (Dion) said he'd let the manager know about it, and someone would call me back. He also told me Terry (as he called him was sort of a manager but just filled in certain shifts.) I never got a callback. So, I called back this evening, and got to actually talk to Terry. I explained the event which he said he "sort of remembered." When I got to the part of the shakes not being shakes. He denied it, saying he made them himself. I'm pretty certain that must be why we got such horrible shakes, if in fact he did make them. He was delivering food and shakes to so many other customers he barely had time to shove a little ice cream in a cup. Don't waste your time and money on this place. We got inside and were surprised at the "please wait to be seated sign" as we thought this was a fast food restaurant. Anyway, we were seated and waited on fairly promptly. We ordered 4 shakes and 2 orders of fries to go with the shakes. Shakes were delivered after about 10-15 minutes or so. However, the fries did not arrive until nearly an HOUR after our arrival. Evidently the kitchen was not operating efficiently as several patrons were complaining about the service/lack of food. I took a sip of their chocolate shake, strawberry shake, and mint chocolate shake. All were delicious. I didn't realize they never gave my my sweet tea until I got home. Abandon All Hope, Ye Who Enter Here Steak 'n Shake has never been the pinnacle of service or experience. But if you think you're cheap enough to handle this place, you're not. Listen up. I'm a Steak 'n Shake kind of person. I'll sacrifice a spotless counter here and a well-groomed employee there if it means my meal is somehow always under 6 bucks. I get it, man. There's a few flies around and you have to kill one with your bare hand? Food and entertainment. Waiter looks like a backwoods swamp thing and speaks English like a Kindergartner? Whatever. I'm not fancy. Hey, we're all just people tryin to make it, and I'm tryin to eat for cheap. But dear lord. Don't choose this location. It. Isn't. Worth. It. Drive to the Lewisville location, and you'll get there and served faster than you'll even have your order taken here. I'll forgive a wait on a busy night or for a fresh-made deep dish. But at 4pm on a weekday for burgers, its ridiculous. At the front of the restaurant, my Mother and I made eye contact with several employees, who were only managing maybe a total of 5 tables. And not one of them thought that perhaps the people patiently, diligently, foolishly, waiting by the "wait to be seated" sign, were waiting to be seated...by them. Several minutes pass until some guy in a stained t-shirt acknowledges us and has to physically walk to a waitress and tell her to seat us. She takes us to a table, and leaves without taking drink orders or giving us her name. Probably 10 minutes goes by as we wait, and notice other parties looking around in a similar bewildered fashion. Few have food, and looking at those hungry faces, even fewer have hope. We realize soon the mistake we've made. Our waitress, the same from before, arrives just as we're considering leaving, introduces herself, and we place our orders. The wait that follows is even longer than the last. When finally we receive salads, they are without dressing, and when she asks what dressing we want, she runs off to get it. We see nothing but our dry salads for ten more minutes until she brings the salad dressing with our burgers, which eliminates entirely the purpose of bringing a salad out first. I don't know where she went. I can't possibly know what she did in all that time we sat. There is not an explanation. It doesn't make any sense. After 45 minutes and a unprecedented amount of hunger, nothing makes sense. I put mustard on a salad. My life and my choices don't make sense. It can't just be lazy or undermotivated employees. I don't see how they couldn't have been trying not to serve us. This Steak 'n Shake shook the very foundations of my standards. I am not as tough and cheap as I thought. I am scarred. I couldn't do it again. God help you if you attempt to eat here. But damn it if the shake wasn't freaking delicious. read more

Steak and Shake carries a reputation for being open late at night and dishing out hot made-to-order food fairly quickly. Well, they went one-for-three this visit. We walked in the door and followed the directions of the "Please wait for hostess to seat you" sign. After about five minutes of being ignored, the manager finally told us to seat ourselves. We did so, and then we spent the next ten minutes wondering when our server would show up. When she did, we put in both our drink and food order. We received it a fair while later. We ordered a Frisco Melt and a Double and Cheese. The food would have been good if it had been delivered 10 minutes earlier, as the sandwiches were lukewarm and the shoelace fries were cold. Directly after finishing the meal, we put in a request for a milkshake. At the 30 minute mark, I began to wonder about starting a fire at the table and re-send our milkshake order via smoke signal to see if that would speed it along. Finally, after about 45 minutes (even the ice in our soda glasses had melted), our waitress approached us asking whether we needed anything else. The milkshake had apparently gotten lost in the shuffle, and it came out about 10 minutes later. She checked on us twice in quick succession after the milkshake was delivered, but we had to flag her down 20 minutes after we finished the shake to get the check. While the orders were lethargic, she was unfailingly nice. We cashed out soon after that. While I appreciate that there were only three workers there when we started and two when we left, there were never more than 10 people in 3 parties to attend to in the dining room. The drive-through might have been busy, but I have a hard time believing that the customers who eat in the dining room (and leave tips) should be the absolute last priority. All in all, it took us 2 1/2 hours to get a meal that ought to take no more than 45 minutes. I don't fault the workers overmuch for this; some of the blame probably lies in corporate policy. I appreciate Steak and Shake and the niche it fills, and I will likely come back, but not because of this experience. read more

I went through the drive thru after I got off of work. It was about to storm and I was starving. I ordered a number six, they told me to pull ahead and they'll bring it out. After awhile the rain started so I pulled to the front door so they didn't have to walk far. Finally the manager comes out asking if I'm waiting for something. Brings me my food and when I get home it's the wrong order. I call, they were very nice on the phone. And took care of me. We came in for an order to go. Three burgers, four cups of chili, and an order of chili mac. None of it was correct. The chili mac consisted of 1/2 cup of noodles and red sauce. None of the burgers were correct, it was a disgrace. They have always been a problem and obviously have not changed.
