Since my last review this place has greatly improved!! The salad dressing has changed and the food tastes so much better. They have a really cool bartender staff that is always on top of serving the customers. The appetizer bacon is SOOO GOOD! It's thick and hearty & I almost got too full for my dinner. I also love the rewards program for saltgrass and Joe's Crab Shack. From being mediocre, to now a regular place I visit because they have improved vastly!! We love the seafood dip too. The mushrooms are still pretty greasy and fried, and the brisket dip is just kinda plain. *Pro tip! You can upgrade your salad to a wedge salad too! Pretty dang great place, and the steak was excellent! We started with appetizers and a Caesar salad, and both were delicious. Honestly, all the food was great, and I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. We ordered the New York strip, porterhouse, grilled shrimp, mac and cheese, and the fresh bread--all of it was flavorful and cooked perfectly. The service was just as impressive. Our server was attentive, friendly, and made the experience even more enjoyable. I would recommend making a reservation to avoid a long wait, especially during peak hours. We are thinking we are getting the normal mozzarella sticks but what showed up was the best mozzarella sticks we have ever tasted. They weren't sticks they were like pyramids of gooey, cheesy pockets of mozzarella. They had great cheese pull. The had a great crispy outer layer and a soft and very delicious cheese. We were next door at the Animal Hospital and opted to have lunch here knowing my sister wouldn't be able to eat her normal filet because of her Recent Dental Implant Surgery. We still decided to make the plunge! She opted for a baked potato and Potato soup. Both were absolutely delicious. You could taste the celery in the soup...it was sooo good and tasty! I had the 10oz sirloin and fried shrimp, baked potato and green beans. Everything was delicious. Steak cooked to perfection. Shrimp light and crispy and like my sisters the baked potato was on point! The complimentary bread and butter was tasty. The food came out quickly. It was all tasty. One miss was that the ribs were not heated through. On the short narrow end of the rack, that rib was cold in the center (not warm at all). The long rib on the other end of the rack was not hot but was warm. We let Colten know and he was prepared to replace the ribs. We said not, we'll reheat these at home. We did this because we weren't very hungry - due to the yummy bread. Decided to go to Saltgrass for my first time for me and my girlfriend's 2 year anniversary dinner. In my reservation that I made 2 weeks in advance I requested a table in the quietest part of the restaurant and Informed them it was for an anniversary but they put us at this tiny little table in the front of the restaurant, there was a quiet area right beside us behind a glass wall that was nearly empty so wasn't thrilled with that. I ordered the 12oz ribeye medium rare with a baked potato and salad, she had the seafood fondue and shrimp and artichoke pasta. My steak came out medium, everything else was good and my girlfriend liked everything she had but the fondue was supposed to come with garlic bread but it was plain toast. Let me start saying that the food, or I should say appetizers are always on point but the alcoholic beverages I didn't care for because they tasted like I was drinking juice. Our food was yummy, I was surprised just how deep that they were able to get the seasoning through each bite of my steak!! You guys forgot a full dinner, side item, and dressing for a salad- mind you this salad comes with one dressing. I called and drove back( 15 min) my order still wasn't ready. I've been to lots of these chain restaurants, and it is normally an easy go-to when I want a decent steak and not pay an absorbent amount. We came here for my husband's birthday. Got the brisket queso, the actual queso was tasty but the brisket was overcooked, fatty, and not shredded well at all My husband's steak was cooked well we both requested medium well and you could see his pink. My daughter got the chicken and ribs with a baked potato. Her potato was overcooked. I got the maude filet medium well, with mushrooms and onions, brussel sprouts, and a house salad with balsamic vinaigrette. The salad was good, the mushrooms and onions were good, the brussell sprouts were overcooked, and my steak was cooked well done and when I told the waitress, she was insistent that she could see pink and I was left frustrated that I had to plead my case on why my meat wasn't cooked to my liking. They did attempt to rectify the situation by giving us a free dessert which my daughter appreciated. I was already sold on Saltgrass food. We've been coming now for over a few years and have ordered several of the entrees from the menu. On this occasion I ordered the Wagu Steak 8pz, potato soup and a salad. My husband always order the queso with the brisket in it and chicken fried chicken for his main course. Well what made this visit different is the service received from Lacy at the City Lake location. This was our first time in and like several of the other Salt Grass locations the ambiance was on point. She mentioned there is a membership that Landry has for $25 that you receive points for every $1 spent as well as a credit to receive the $25 back that you spent to enter the membership program. Also the program features birthday rewards. I'm impressed with the membership, I did sign up and looking forward to saving money thanks to my waitress Lacy! Met a friend here for dinner on a Friday evening. I made reservations in advance so the wait time was minimal. Once my guest arrived, we quickly ordered. I ordered salmon Oscar and a peach margarita. Although it was happy hour, we were told that we'd have to order directly with the bar for specials. That didn't make sense to me considering all drinks would be coming from the bar and the restaurant would still make money. Our food was delivered and for a $32 meal, I was disappointed at the portion side but proceeded to dig in. Once I took a bite, I noticed that the salmon was overcooked and tasted charred. The asparagus was also cold. I requested that my meal be replaced due to these issues and it was. After concluding the meal, I had to ask the server 3 times for the ticket and once received, noticed that I'd been charged twice for my meal. I've eaten at the Mansfield location with a group and the service and food were spectacular. For a birthday celebration, Saltgrass Steak house ended up being a good place to go. I like Texas themed steakhouses (Texas roadhouse, etc). They seem to have a good mix of tasty prepared cuts of beef, for decent value. Saltgrass has 93 locations throughout the South and West, so when I saw this location close to our hotel, suggested it be the place for our party of five to celebrate my mom's birthday. We checked in with the hostess without a reservation, and was told a 30 minute wait. But within 10 minutes, got a page to my phone and we were seated in a nice table for 6 in the back. Carlos was our waiter and he was excellent throughout the night. We all asked for water, and even with the TX size plastic glasses, we were still given carafes to self refill when necessary. Fresh bread was given with whipped butter: nondescript. My mom had never tried fried pickles before, so placed an order ($8.99). It came out soon after and because it was freshly prepared, it was quite good. It's one of those foods that grows on you...first bite is "interesting...think I'm good", but you end up wanting more even though you know it's not good for you. The three of us (since two of the party are avid pickle haters) finished about half of the order. The entrees are priced between $25 to $40, and come with one side and soup/salad choice. I didn't think any of the meats were outstanding (all advertised as Angus, so assuming they were all Choice cuts), but were definitely tasty and decently prepared. My stepdad got the 9 oz center cut filet with fully loaded baked potato ($33.99), medium well, and he enjoyed it enough to finish the entire thing. My mom ended up getting the soup and salad special ($12.79), getting the really good potato soup and caesar salad. She said the soup was very good, and ate some of the salad with thousand island dressing. My wife and daughter both got the NY Strip dinner ($30.99) onion straws as side for one, the other getting fried green beans). The onion straws were disappointing...way too greasy. I got the full rack of ribs ($26.99), with fries. Fries were OK, and the baked potato soup was very thick (thinking they mixed in ground up vegetables in there to give it heft which I liked rather than using flour or cream). The ribs were meaty, but thinking had been parboiled since the meat was falling off the bone. It had been heavily prepared with dry rub. As mentioned, service was excellent throughout with food coming out in the right cadence, and served hot. We ended up taking a lot of it home, since we had a small fridge in the hotel. read more

This place can NEVER cook a medium well filet. It come out medium rare every time. Just sent it back, the second steak came out half rare and half medium. Management could care less. I don't understand. The last 3-4 visits have been this way. Management should talk with the Cooks and not feel intimidated by these Cooks they say have been here for years.
