Local Foods Kitchen provides a solid, healthy meal option to the FW area. This place doesn't stay open late, so I placed an online order for lunch. Based on some reviews, I heard the line to order can get pretty long and I'm glad I did, because the place was packed. My order was ready at the pickup time and was well packed. There is some searing inside, but you would need to get there early to grab a table. My sister and decided to split 2 wraps so we could try more items from the menu. We ordered the mexcrunch wrap and the buffalo chicken wrap. I like how the salads can be made into wraps, which provides more options. I think we both preferred the mexcrunch, simply due to the crunchy texture. I think both wraps would have been better if we could've had the sauce on the side, because the wraps got soggy pretty quickly. The side pasta salad was surprisingly really good, and I see why they serve it. Overall, I'd definitely go back here for a healthy lunch option. read more

The lunch choices rarely disappoint although they are on the pricey side. A sandwich salad lunch combo ran me $25. My husband's half panini was a bit small for this price. The Chinese and Mexican Salads are both amazing! Worth the money! The chicken salad in the case or on the sandwich is another favorite! Get the Blums cake! It is worth every calorie. This most recent visit we skipped it in favor of the strawberry cake which was stale and a big let down. I called later to let them know it should probably be pulled and should have been so a day or so earlier. I get it--it's hard to keep cake fresh without a lot of preservatives, but even at room temp it was stale. Blums cake will never let you down, though. This was my second time at the local foods kitchen. My mom was with me both times. This place is always packed for breakfast and brunch, it seems to slow down around 130 or 2 PM. There was always a crowd here, but there is a pretty quick turnaround. It's loud so you do have to speak up to hear each other. My mom and I both had combo number one which is a half a sandwich with the soup of the day. Today they had tomato soup and chili. My mom had half a turkey sandwich with tomato soup and I had half of a chicken Panini with a bowl of chili.! The service was quick and the food was fresh and delicious. This cozy Fort Worth spot makes me think of a European bistro. Inside you'll order at the counter (which is filled with beautiful dishes to behold) amongst lots of hustle and bustle. There's also a decent sized, shaded, wrap-around outdoor patio with more tables than I expected. Recently in pretty weather we sat at a little bistro table for two out front. The menu is all things homemade and seasonal. Pretty pastries, beautiful salads and sandwiches, soul-warming soups of the day, rotating fresh made sides like roasted veggies, macaroni and cheese, tuna/pasta/chicken salads, and fresh fruit. An assortment of entrees (pot pies, enchiladas, rice pilaf, meatloaf, etc.) perfect for dining in or taking home. My last lunch here was the salad and 1/2 sandwich combo. I had the Pimento Cheese BLT on gluten free toast with the wedge salad. When I tell you I ate every bite... the wedge is soooo cold and crispy with tons of blue cheese crumbles and crunchy walnuts. And the house-made pimento cheese is delicious with just a tiny bit of heat and tons of flavor. I ordered a lemon meringue pie, a slice of blueberry and lemon cake and when I got home there was a blueberry muffin and a slice of blueberry lemon cake. Well I live too far to go back for a meringue pie so I just nodded my head at the faux pas. Well here's the consensus on the cake- it is stodgy and dry and the muffin is crusty and dry. While the main menu hasn't changed much I noticed the explosion in the bakery section. The only baked goods that seemed to be doing better than the rest are the almond crescent cookies. what a great little brunch spot we found on the Southside of Fort Worth. the deli cases were full of tempting items for more lunch type items, but we were there for brunch, so I went with my standard avocado toast with egg and bacon. the nice thing is the rotating menu, so it's really dependent on the season what you will find to eat. everything was fresh, they make their own jam, but also have single serve options. great, fast service. a must try! read more

How did I not know this place was so close? It's been here since July 2015, and I can't believe this is the first time I've been there. Thank goodness was for Yelp. The food, ambiance, and service were excellent. I had the T2 breakfast sandwich, and it was one of, if not THE, best breakfast sandwich I've ever had. I ordered the eggs over-medium for that gooey experience that so few restaurants can get right. They were spot on. My wife got breakfast tacos, and they were also amazing. Their salsa is spicy and very flavorful - which is something most Mexican restaurants can't seem to get right. The tacos were pretty big, so she ended up taking one home. Overall, this will be our go-to for brunch. The mimosa carafe was very-well proportioned, and we enjoyed talking with the manager while we enjoyed the last part of the carafe. She was very helpful, and we can't wait to come back. We'll try lunch and dinner and maybe some take home. Went in on a Thursday around 10:30am as some of us wanted breakfast and some lunch. They let us order from both menus. The staff was super friendly and walked us through all their options. It was a bit overwhelming with amazing things to choose from - the bakery side, the deli side. So much to look at! Our lunch was fantastic. Everyone enjoyed their food as well as the garlic fries we shared. I didn't have time to shop that day but went back the next and shopped the deli to go and bakery. The chicken salad is creamy and tasty. The Cesar Brussels are good - for me I wanted a little more Cesar flavor but they were still good. The Mexican street corn salad was one of my favorites! I also enjoyed the beef lasagna and the sesame chicken with honey mustard. Essentially bought groceries their for the week for one person. Price wise it was 100% worth it and the food was all so tasty! I also got a Keylime tart and it was phenomenal. Was a bit busy my second visit in on a Friday around 12:30 during the holidays but the lines went quick and the staff was efficient and kind. The food is delicious and healthy and I love knowing they source locally. The service is friendly and the atmosphere is cozy. Given all the positives know that they come at a cost and adjust your expectations accordingly and you will be more than satisfied. Sourcing locally means this isn't the cheapest place to grab a meal but the food is fresh and you are supporting our local farmers! Also it takes a bit longer than one might expect to receive the food, but everything tastes made from scratch so it is worth the wait. The atmosphere is cozy which is code for not a lot of seating! But you are also not screaming over a ton of people so be prepared to wait for a table or take the yummy food to go! Located on Hulen Street in Ft. Worth about a mile south of Central Market which makes it a convenient stop when u have some upscale grocery shopping to do. Atmosphere: Nothing really special here, just a quaint little strip mall shop. A bit crowded, but workable. It is setup in an almost cafeteria style, where they have a couple of deli cases housing some of the more popular dishes/pastas/salads. You can buy these items by the lb or in numbers (such as 1 enchilada.) and they will heat them up if need be. There are a couple of other cases housing desserts and etc. All the desserts looked amazing although we did not partake on this day. They also have a chef's menu with sandwiches and the like. 0.75 Stars Service: Basically stand in line until u get to the register and they take your order and hand you a number. Very nice at register and we were welcomed into the store and pleasantly greeted with our food. 2 Stars Food: Ahhhh, the good part. I wanted to try so many things from the entree case. It is a bit daunting with all the choices and variety. From Asian noodles, to Southern Potato Salad, to Mexican Chicken Enchiladas & Italian Pastas, you can't go wrong. We ended up ordering just one item from the case; potato salad, and the rest was from the chef's menu. I went with the Cubano sandwich (my staple whenever I find one on any menu) and the wife had the fish tacos. Possibly the best Cubano I've had at a restaurant? Definitely top two. Warm melted cheese, crispy dill pickles, and savory shredded pork were the standouts. The fresh grilled bread was perfect as well. I paired it with some dill pickle chips and it also came with a side of a cilantro lime rice with feta, which was very good. Wife raved about her fish tacos. Meaty and tasty, with the perfect amount of fillers so as not to overpower the fish. Also stuffed with a nice amount of fresh sliced avocado. The fries that accompanied it were also delicious. We will definitely come back next time we are in town. We will also HAVE to get a dessert, they look so tasty. 2 Stars Overall: A definitive return place for us. If they were to put this place in a little bit bigger space it would up it's appeal 2-3 fold. They did appear to be doing tons of togo orders however. Highly recommended. read more

The first time I tried the farm burger and the second time the grilled fish tacos. Both are so flavorful and cooked perfectly! Surprised they had such a delicious burger on their menu but they really do. Their fish tacos were so good and they come with plenty of fries. The restaurant is kept clean and staff is very friendly. They have a whole selection of desserts, so this is a plus! I love desserts and the raspberry cheesecake was great, not too sweet, just right. The seating is very close, so it's not the most spacious or private spot. Feels much more like a lunch spot than anything else.
