    Onion Rings

SNS is quite the wildcard in the fast food world. I feel as though they were once the place to be on a good night and now just another sign on the freeway. Although I think some level they are underrated as their shakes still hit fairly well. I've through here a few times with my buddy in the last year or so, and they keep a fairly clean place. They have fully moved to kiosks for ordering now, but still do have the ability to use cash. I am on board with this as it makes for Quicker processes and no lines. I find the beverage system to be quite interesting, as you get a receipt with code to scan by the drink machine so you're able to fill your cup (not sure what they're preventing though). The steak frank is not much to go home about, though its not the worst thing ever. Ok at best. Fries are good, but thats about where that parade ends. The onions rings absolutely slap for sure and are a staple on the menu! But why 3 stars? Because of the mood. It's honestly sort of depressing when theres only 9 people inside. Its tough to enjoy a meal in a dead environment. It is not a fault of the restaurant but reflection of the state of the chain. Hopefully they can turn it around someday, but atlas.

It has been a while since I've been to Steak and Shake. Now you order at a kiosk, pay and they call your number and you pick up your food at the counter. You get your own drink but you have to prompt them to give you a cup. This location was bright, clean and looked as if the furniture had been replaced. I remember it before as kinda grimy so it looked refreshed and upgraded. Our order was up quickly. The quality of the single steak burger was as I remembered it -- slightly a step above McDonalds -- although the skinny shoestring fries were excellent -- thin, crispy and hot and very plentiful.

Ehhhhh not the best experience here. Came with two friends on a Sunday night. They had one server working the entire restaurant (and this includes seating parties and bussing tables). He did a great job and was hustling, but it was ridiculous and I felt so bad for him. It was all he could do to get people seated in a reasonable amount of time and take and serve orders. The table across from us sat with dirty dishes almost the entire time we were there because he had no time. At one point someone who looked like a manger came out to help, but he didn't seem to be doing enough to alleviate the pressure. The food was fine. I don't get what's so exciting about the steakburger, but the bacon cheeseburger I had was fine (likely a little bit nicer than McDonald's). The egg nog shake I got was delicious, but there was wayyyyyyy too much nutmeg on the top, it actually made my stomach turn a bit. The garlic Parmesan 'add on' for my fries was just a pre-made mix shaken over the fries, which tasted okay but wasn't evenly distributed over the fries. Their prices here are great, the burger combo was only $3.99, so that's good. Despite the hustle of our sever we saw him only to take our orders, drop off our order, and drop off the check. Not his fault as he was swamped, but it was noticeable that he never came back to check in. According to my friends who eat here more often, this isn't a rare occurrence. If they could figure out their staffing needs better it would likely be a better experience.

This review is purely for happy hour! No, silly, not THAT kind of happy hour! We're talking about the shake happy hour Monday through Friday from 2-5pm. Having a late afternoon craving for something sweet, Steak 'n Shake sent me an email with a half-price offer for any of their shakes. Talk about perfect timing! It was 4pm, so I grabbed my kiddos and we hightailed it to Glenview. Here's what we tried. Two red velvet shakes for my kiddos, and a chocolate for me. I didn't get to try the red velvet because my boys are at that no-sharing age, but my chocolate was sooooo good! The portion size was more than generous. The ice cream was rich and high quality. Nice and thick and overly chocolatey...what's not to love? My boys also raved about the red velvet. Major plus for those practicing extra safe measures these days. They delivered our shakes curbside wearing gloves! Side note: Pairs perfectly with a Western bbq bacon burger and a side of those fabulous skinny fries (I couldn't resist).

This might have been the very best service I have received in a Steak 'n Shake, well...ever. Maxx F. was pretty solid. Usually the service is abysmal, tonight was a different story. Quick with the refills, suggested a shake for dessert, got the order correct.. A new milestone. Why not five stars? Walking in the "Please wait to be seated" sign did not bode well. as there was only one other table seated in the restaurant. And wait we did indeed. Also, our chili bowls were served at the same time as our steakburgers. Would have been nice to have them out first. Overall though, top rate!

I was very happy with service and quality of food here. We ordered 4 shakes during happy hour, and the triple burgers which are amazing with everything on it. The fries were hot and my kids loved them. We had some with cheese and one container of cheese was fresh and hot, the other looked like slime (my kids said that lol) I'm assuming one was our longer then the other. I took a star off bc of that. Service was friendly, we did drive thru around 2:15pm. The burger with no bun was delicious. I will definitely come back here, my husband and I both thought why haven't we tried this place earlier...

I've never been to Steak N Shake before so my good friend took me here. We totally pigged out and ordered a buncha food. I really loved the Jr. Strawberry Banana frozen yogurt shake and the fries. They were light and crispy! I liked their take on their Chili 5 Way. This is definitely not a place though for people who are trying to lose weight or watch their triglyceride levels. As much as we wanted to eat everything, we simply couldn't, it was too much.

We drive past Grill House all the time, it has been in Northbrook for a long time (I just found out…read morethat it's been here for 9 years), however, this was the first time that we ever visited, and I am happy that we finally did! My husband and I wanted a quick and good dinner one Sunday recently, and we picked Grill House after I read some good reviews on Yelp.  Although it's a casual, fast-food-style restaurant, the menu is surprisingly extensive, with a wide variety of healthy Greek dishes. It was definitely helpful to look over their menu online before we visited, because the menu board inside could be a bit overwhelming.  I guess I still looked quite confused when I saw 2 kiosks in front of the ordering counter.  A staff behind the counter offered to help, and I just ordered directly with him.  Later of the evening I discovered that he's the friendly owner Gus. After placing our order at the counter, we were given a table number, and our food was delivered promptly.  I ordered a Chicken Souvlaki Plate ($17.50 at the time, it's now listed online for $18), while my husband ordered a Filet Mignon Souvlaki Plate ($25.50).  Each souvlaki plate included a soup or salad, rice and potato (1 piece), a side of veggies, and pita bread in a paper bag.  It was a generous amount of food! We both chose the lentil soup, which was served piping hot in a nice ceramic bowl with a lid. It was flavorful and comforting. My chicken souvlaki was tender and juicy, never dry, and both the rice and potato were delicious. We were both impressed with the quality and value of the meal. I ordered a lemonade, which is considered a fountain drink ($4.00) and comes with free refills, though I couldn't even finish my first glass. My husband would have ordered a glass of wine if we hadn't had plans afterward, so we were happy to see that Grill House also serves beer and wine for a future visit. The service was another highlight. Everyone was warm and welcoming; a special shout-out to Kevin, who was very attentive and checked in on us several times.  When I was taking photos around the restaurant, the owner Gus greeted me again, which was a nice personal touch. The restaurant itself was bright, clean, and inviting. There's also a pleasant patio for those who prefer to dine outdoors. We will definitely be back to try more dishes from their extensive menu.  I am glad that we finally gave Grill House a try!

After we set up an account on the Northbrook Culver's website, we have the option to save our order and credit card information. Each time we can pull up a particular order, re-order as it's, modify it, or start from scratch. I noticed that we had ordered the ButterBurger Cheese and the Culver's Deluxe interchangeably, mine is single while Hubby's double, since we would customize our burgers with just the ingredients that we like anyway. So, our ButterBurger Cheese or Culver's Deluxe will end up being the same burger after all. Their food is made to order, as described in their website, for the Culver's Deluxe, they start with fresh, never frozen beef. Layer on real Wisconsin cheese, crisp lettuce, ripe tomatoes, pickles, sweet red onion and their signature mayo. Then cap with a lightly buttered, toasted bun. It's their ButterBurger® at its best. Although we always do without the mayo, we agree that their burgers are among the best fast-food burgers that we ever had, hot, moist, and tasty. We always order the Crinkle Cut Fries to pair with the burgers. They are hot and crispy, and not overly salted, much better than a lot of the other fast-food joints. Beware that they could be quite addictive! What makes Culver's so fantastic is that they are not just good; their food is always ready in 6 minutes after we order online. So, we always waited until we were ready to head for the pickup before we checked out online! The only complain that I have is their drive through system. I had used the drive through once about 6 months ago on my way home. It was very confusing. The staff signaled me to park at their designated spot but no one handed me the food until I was able to finally flag some staff member down. It was late at night, and all the other cars behind me had food delivered to them and left already. They really need to re-design their drive through system and procedure to make it work perfectly for everyone. For now, we would continue to park in front of their door and get inside to pick up. I am trying to forget the drive through mishap and focus just on the carryout service, which is always perfect and reliable. Their staff are always friendly and welcoming. We will keep coming back for the juicy burgers and crispy fries!
