My husband and I stopped for a bacon and egg biscuit. We waited THIRTY FIVE MINUTES. It was all over-cooked, the biscuit was hard and crumbly and dry. The floor under our table was dirty, as was most of the restaurant and restrooms. There were only 2 waitresses to handle many customers. They were trying, despite the lack of help. There were 6 people in the kitchen, which wasn't very clean either, and they could not keep up. We decided 35 minutes was long enough to wait for such a small order. When we went to the counter to pay for coffee, the waitress said to wait a minute, they were putting it in the window. We sat back down, and she brought it to us. It was cold and hard. We might go back, if we have no other options. Steak 'n Shake needs to revamp this whole restaurant. Billy and Johnene Murphy P.S. Courtney is the best waitress. She is on the morning week shift. I go to this Steak & Shake quite a bit and I never had any trouble with service.BUT I went there yesterday and it was just terrible. I should have left when we were left standing waiting for a table when they werent busy. After we got seated we were not even acknowledged for a while, had to ask the manager for a server and he wasn't all that nice. Well, when she came to the table she was rude....then it took forever to get our drinks.While we waited for our food we watched the people across from us walk out because no one even bothered to say anything to them and they sat there for awhile.(I should have walked out too.) Well our food finally came and I was the only one that had a drink, then my daughter got hers and my granddaughter got her kids milkshake...... now still waiting for the second milkshake..halfway thru the meal it finally came. I talked to the manager and he told me our server was stressed...he acted like he just didn't care. Very bad day at steak & shake....will not return for awhile..if then. They need to train the servers and get a manager in there who cares. read more

Everyone seems to hate this place. The service is inconsistent, but otherwise it's fine. We've been here several times and it's usually very good for this chain. THE SHAKES ARE THE BEST. Even for a Steak and Shake they are particularly good. The food is average, but it's better than Wendys down the road. The service is fairly slow but otherwise they're great. Everyone is complaining about the manager, but we haven't had problems with him nor seem anyone have problems with him. Even so, I'd pick the drive thru. If you like this place, then come here. But other than the shakes, not much exceptional. If you want something that really stands out and is local, Painturo's and Chefs Market are two that are great. read more

Never again, tried them recently and service was horrible! Had to ask 3 different employees (one being a manager.) for a coffee refill and after 30 mins still had no refill and it was time to go. My husband's and I's burgers were all mixed up as server was very uninterested. Chalked it up to maybe a bad day so I tried them again 2 weeks later with my son. Big mistake from beginning to end. Walked thru the door and it took 10 mins to be greet although a manager walked passed the group of chattering servers and pointed to the door and told them to greet us, still no one came. The only server who came was already at his own table and finished his order to come and help us. He ended up being our server, only plus to this visit. My burger came out correct this time but my sons grilled cheese was literally two pieces of bread toasted in a toaster and two COLD unmelted cheese slices inbetween, need less to say he didn't eat it at all only his fries. Server was busy but he was great to us. Tipped him well and made our way to the cash register to pay..... another long wait as I literally was staring at the "CS manager" as her name tag described. She called for a server to help us but none came. 10 mins later we are still standing there staring at her "helping" on the line.... she was simply reading off the screen down the line (important part of production I'm aware but it takes two seconds to step aside and check us out.) Finally a take out employee makes her way up to the register to pass out Togo shakes to other waiting guests and asks the manager directly if she was going to check us out to which she replied, "No, I don't have time to." By then I'm blown away and tell the girl I need to be checked out I've been waiting long enough and need to go, I have things to tend to. She finally gets the key card from the manager to allow her to check us out herself and we are finally on our way. Just down right HORRIBLE service not only from servers but managers of all people. I have never witnessed such a disaster in my life. Will not be returning. read more

Worst service ever. Been several times and it's all the same, slow, typically unfriendly service. Recently sat at the front counter with my daughter and was totally ignored by the staff, including the manager. After about 8 minutes, we just walked out. This is not the first time, I don't know why we keep trying to go here. I think I am done with them, at this location, anyway. read more

I will have to say, I was Totally Shocked with some of the reviews in here.....I am 73 years old, have eaten MANY times in Many diff. places...Today I went to the store in Hendersonville, Tn. ( No. 656 ), and was politely greeted, and seated quickly...When my server ( Claire ) came to the table, She Smiled and greeted us..Received My Shake rather quickly, and my order in a Very Acceptable Time....My Server ( Claire ) came to the table about 6 - 7 times, while we were there. and checked to make sure everything was good, and asked if we needed anything.. WE AGREED THAT WE COULD NOT HAVE ASKED FOR BETTER SERVICE ANYWHERE.... I do not know about the rest of the staff, BUT, the One We got ( Claire ) was Super Nice, Very Polite, Very Professional, OVER ALL, I would love to have Her swerve Us, everywhere We go.... Went in with low expectations and I'm glad I did because I wasn't impressed at all. I ordered a regular fry and the Frisco sandwich, both were very bland and not hot enough. The fries were almost cold and chewy, they were probably sitting out for a while before I even placed my order. The sandwich was decent but very bland. It also took about 10 minutes for my order to be ready, which I assumed was because they were making sure my order was correct, cooked well, and delicious. My order was correct but that was it. I brought the food home, soon realized that everything was bland and cold, so what I did was reheat everything and cooked it to my liking. Heated the fries up in a pan with oil and garlic salt. Also heated up the sandwich, with the garlic salt as well, so that the cheese was actually melted. Once I was finished cooking the food, how it should have been done in the first place, it was actually pretty good. So long story short, if you want "fast" food that you have to finish cooking yourself just so you don't feel like you wasted your time and money, then Stake & Shake is for you. I will not be going back ever again to any of their locations. read more

This has got to be the WORST Steak N Shake in the franchise. I have walked out many times for not even being seated in a timely manner when there were plenty of tables available. The management appears to not care nor do they even act like they have even been in the restaurant business in the past. How they have been able to maintain their franchise is a poor testament to Steak N Shake's franchise management. When I have had poor experiences in the past at this restaurant, I would not go back for at least one year, in hopes that when I would return at least a year later that the service and attitude of the employees at this restaurant would have changed and gotten better. They have not. So, when I want to eat at a Steak N Shake restaurant, I will usually go to the restaurant in Rivergate or eat at the one in Clarksville when I am up there on business. My suggestions for this particular location of Steak N Shake in Hendersonville is to either close the restaurant all together or award the franchise to a group or individual that has proven that they can run this restaurant. read more

If I could put 0 stars, I would. This place is on its way to going to crap and fast. None of our TEN burgers had condiments, tomatoes, or lettuce, which their reasoning for that was the computers were down. That's funny, I knew what went on all the burgers because I took a look at the menu, and I figured it out. Most of their employees are a joke, with the exception of 2 girls that really hustled. One of our friends had a LONG hair in their fresco "melt" (her cheese never melted). Needless to say any further, the food was such a sad excuse for a meal. We saw our server probably twice, which I guess was because she was also a cook,prepper, cashier, and hostess. As I questioned the cashier what the issue was, she said short staffed and computer issues. One of the useless workers then butted in trying to defend his burger craftsmanship .It took a lot of self control to not yell at someone, The one I did question looked on the verge of tears,poor thing. If I had talked to the houdini manager, I would've really told him how to start running the place, and the sad thing was me, with no restaurant experience other than working in one, would've run it better. read more
