Decided to use the drive-thru here. Lady in front of us was clearly feeding Africa. Not the song by Toto but the less famous disease ridden country. She literally wasted approximately 20 minutes of our time. Got to the window finally and the cashier, no joke, says, "Sorry... One of those customers... you know...?" Totally unprofessional but completely true. Yup. I do know those people. Fiance has never had Steak 'n Shake so her opinion was based on pure conjecture. I was shocked when we got home and she said it was really good. Didn't like the fries but dope burger. Didn't have any nachos for the gator and I'm not making two stops. My burger was good too. I don't really have high expectations going into the restaurant anyway, but today was especially poor. My waitress and the manager were ok but I asked for an extra side of beef for my chili Mac and the pic is what I was given. When I asked if it was a joke ( bc I sincerely thought a mistake had been made) the manager insisted that this is what they are trained to give. This is a nice place to hang out on weekends though although it gets pretty busy. When they get busy, prepare to wait long for your food. The shakes will eventually come halfway through your dinner. But no problem because it comes in a take out container. Once you're done eating, prepare to wait again as you line up to pay your bill. Again, this only happens when they're busy. Drive through won't help you either. It's probably the slowest one in town. Now, if you come here during their slower time, you can be in and out in half an hour. I would still come back here every now and then. I like the restaurant's ambiance. It reminds me of the old Friendly's restaurant. There are so many locations all over the US, I didn't even know about Steak n Shake until Marc Summers (host of the Food Network show: Unwrapped) recommended it on The Best Thing I ever Ate episode: Between Bread. It was when we first landed in Florida and Suzy picked us both up from the Airport. It was almost 9:00 and we had to find somewhere to eat so we chose Steak n Shake. So many Good Burgers (Pun intended) to choose from plus choosing from almost 2 Dozen milkshakes. For my Milkshake, I got a Small Peanut Butter and Banana (Pretty Good). For my Entrée I got the Royale Steakburger (Quality Meat Topped with an Egg, Bacon and Jalepeno's). Grandma and Suzy just got Regular Steakburgers. Nothing makes you question yourself more than sitting endlessly in drive through for a burger you didn't even want but ordered for a quick lunch on your way home from errands. Fast forward 25 minutes later and I am still in drive through. Service here is HORRIBLE both in the restaurant and in drive through. Went first night and it was great. That was Thursday, April 25th. Food wasn't super hot but it was pretty good. So I told my family we would start going there instead of Wendy's and McDonald's. The next day, Friday, I offered to pick up food and planned to meet up with my family half an hour later. I got in line and it took 6 minutes to get to the ordering speaker. I was then asked to wait - 4 minutes. I patiently waited and then we ordered. Another 6 minutes and we were up. He took my money. Then we sat there. 11 minutes and I watched them make and take several orders away from the window but no one came. People behind me honked and yelled. I put up my hands. So I telephoned after another minute and explained the situation. Then a man came and I explained people were honking. He handed me two slightly melted shakes with shake along the side of the glass. Then a bag of food and I left. I ordered three single burgers, a grilled cheese, and two shakes. They were so COLD I TOOK PICTURES. The cheese had dried and wrinkled. Sickening. So I called the number on the reciept for customer care and they did absolutely nothing. Some of my family had to leave before I even got there! Terrible!! NEVER AGAIN! Not for drive-through anyway! Go somewhere like Burger Fi or Five Guys where they take care of you WELL. Or go to Wendy's; where you get service in 5 minutes! The place is filthy, the bathroom is abhorrent and there is no service. They changed the menu and took my favorite item off (Vegetable Soup), quit having waitress service, no smiles, no thank yous. Now they are just an overpriced McDonalds with poorer service. What a shame. read more

In mid-afternoon on a weekday, this place was packed. They need more help. Only 2 servers for all these people (see photos). They worked so very hard. Tables waiting to be cleaned, people waiting to pay their bill, people waiting to be seated. The workers were running to try and keep up. The manager needs to be there....and not off...to work like the employees. I cannot image working there for more than 5 minutes. They taste bad, and they are poorly put together. The fries are blah, and even the shakes are eh. You can barely hear the people at the drive through and when you get to the window it as if the grease caked up on the window hits you as they open. I almost lost my drink when it was handed to me because the cup was filthy with grease and grime. Great food, great price. Service? Hmm.. I took my 3 year old son for his first time. 5 minutes after we were served, the server asked us if we wanted our drinks to go. I must point out, I was halfway through eating, and I eat fast. It was obvious she was rushing us. We were there off peak and the place was half capacity. When I ordered my son a shake, she again asked if it would be "to go." In sit down establishments, customers will let you know if they want their food "to go." This is my third and final visit. (If not for my kids, the first would have been my last). Do not take lightly the other reviews concerning the service at this location. We were ignored for eight minutes while we waited for a table. While we waited just to be greeted, we observed the following: a man waiting to pay his Bill for the entire time we waited. He gave the cashier an earful complaining about his miserable wait. Eyeballing the open tables who hoped we would one day be ours, w counted six dirty tables. Good was standard waitress while nice, was in way over head waiting tables. In fact in our experience, s&s suffers from a plague of wait staff better suited for working being a fast food counter and not in front of it. The employees are unfriendly and when we picked up our food, the employees were yelling at each other. Management, if you are reading this, please fix your store and your employees!!! If you get a shake... go for the regular size. The small is really, really, *really* small. Like, half the size of the regular. Not worth the savings of like 30 cents. Now, there's a downside here, too. Due to Steak-n-Shake not really being a fast-food place, the drive-through is sometimes really, really slow. I've waited in line as long as 20 minutes from joining the queue to driving off with my food. Additionally, drive-through orders get their drinks in a foam cup -- good at insulating the drink, but not environmentally friendly. So if that sort of thing matters, skip the drink. The best deal here is happy hour -- 2-4 (both AM and PM), shakes are 1/2 price. They also serve unlimited pancakes in the morning (6 AM to I think 11 PM) for $4. read more

When I got here, I was informed that they no longer carry that. The table tents say they have a fish sandwich, and the website says they have a fish sandwich. If you've been to any other Steak N Shake, then you know what you're getting. Drive Thru or Dine In are your options. I prefer the onion rings to fries and the shakes are pretty darn good. My biggest gripe with this location is the service. I've been there a couple of times lately, and it take forever to get served and they make multiple mistakes.
