I walked into the restaurant on a Friday night around seven. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I liked that the place had a fun college feel to it.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The front section was full of people, although there were still some tables available.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The waitress asked if we wanted to sit in that area or more towards the back where it was quieter. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We chose a table in the back, behind the bar. It was much quieter there, so my daughter and I could actually have a conversation.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service was great and the food was served at a good temperature. I ordered the Impossible burger with everything on it. I substituted a pretzel roll for the brioche and for an up-charge, it certainly wasn't worth it. The pretzel roll was tiny, especially for the size of the burger. The fries tasted great - reminded me of Broadway Fries from back in the day. I also appreciated that the soda came in a huge cup so I didn't need a refill.

Honestly, I had low expectations for this restaurant and expected it to be greasy and unappealing. It's got a 50s diner decor and layout and was immaculately clean and new (post storm renovation). The servers were all friendly and on top of things - no issues there. The food wasn't bad at all and I really enjoyed their nachos. The fish tacos and fish sandwich were a hit as well. I wouldn't hesitate to put this on my list of island stops for a quick lunch. Prices were fair too.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]What an eclectic combination of themes and great food here![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This restaurant has been on Sanibel for decades, and even survived Hurricane Ian (although major renovations were necessary). [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's got a 50s diner, old town vibe to it.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Burgers, milkshakes, floats, and giant sodas. The food was delicious and plentiful, and the staff were quite friendly and each we talked to had been long-time employees. That says something about a business. If you ever find yourself on Sanibel Island this is a must stop for lunch or early dinner (this and most restaurants on the island close early, even on the weekends)

Wow!! Stopped here after our beach day on Captiva because we were drawn in by the name "cheeburger cheeburger." What does it mean? I still don't know! Anyways, [[HIGHLIGHT]]after parking in the spacious strip mall lot, we were greeted by clean retro decor, the kind you want to see in a place known for its burgers and shakes.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our waitress, Pamela, was very informative. She helped guide our decision making on sauces and what servings to get of the fries. A single is good for 2 people! I ordered a classic burger with American cheese, tomato, lettuce, and the signature burger sauce. I thought it was really good! I also had the brownie batter milkshake, also great. The sweet potato fries were even better, especially dipped in the signature burger sauce. The food came out quick, the portions were great, and the proved even better. Everyone was happy with the meal! [[HIGHLIGHT]]We even got some entertainment when some patrons nearby embarked on the cheeseburger challenge, but we did not stay long enough to see if they succeeded. But I was rooting for them![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

You know I've been coming to this island for years and never stopped by here. Finally had a chance . I sat at the bar just ordered a beer, a burger and some french fries and I was pleasantly surprised. Cheeseburger cheeseburger for the win !

Nice place to stop by to enjoy a burger and fries. The shakes looked amazing but didn't try one. The Blackened Grouper sandwich was tasty. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Very cool decoration to look at.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our server was excellent and quick.

Was stuck in Marriott Sanibel. Was highly recommended to visit Cheeburger Cheeburger. Learned from my uber driver (only way to reach it) that it was based off an old SNL skit. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Restaurant was big but empty on a Tuesday evening.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The decorations were new but retro. Their half cut ancient red car really popped.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Sat on the counter and ordered an island burger and cheesecake shake. The burger was basic. Didn't taste much flavor or any twist that wouldn't make it forgettable. The shake tasted more like a watered down Oreo. Overall average experience.

We are happy to share that yesterday's visit was back to the good ole Cheeburger we love. Service was good. Food was decently quick, hot & delicious. So glad they worked through the issues we had at Christmas.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Cool atmosphere going back to the 60s.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Skip this place if you want a juicy hambburger. Well well done only. I don't understand why a place that specializes in serving hamburgers does that. Service was so..so.

He treated us like family, & took such good care of us. We started with cocktails: Miami Vice, Pina Colada, & a Pain Killer at Nicks suggestion. They were all delicious. Next up shared appetizers of smoked fish dip & crab cakes. I usually dislike crab cakes, but I wanted to eat all of them. The smoked fish dip was delicious too & whoever thought of frying the saltines is a genius! For our meals we each got a lunch for dinner platter which was plenty of food with the accompanying house made chips & super ripe fruit. Two of us got the coconut shrimp. They were large, fresh & delicious, very heavy on the batter. The pineapple dipping sauce was perfect with them. Two in our party got salmon & said it was excellent. They ate every bite of it. One of us devoured his lobster roll with great enjoyment. The only non- seafood eater had what he described as a really good burger. He's like Mikey from Life cereal, he hates everything...so that's very high praise for the burger. For dessert we shared both the chocolate cake & key lime pie. I usually don't like Key Lime pie because it's almost always too sweet. But theirs is amazing. Dense, creamy & very tangy, with grated lime zest all throughout the pie. The cake was delicious too. There wasn't a bite of anything left. The ambience is great. Very nautical with lovely views. The exterior is very pretty, & inside it is cozy, casual & approachable. The a/c works really well too. The servers were all cheerful & the other diners seemed to be enjoying themselves. It was such a great overall experience. Highly recommend!

The place is casual, rustic, and come as you are. Got our drinks pdq. We decided to share a combo pot. But after some soup. Got the conch chowder. It came in a large, pretty plastic conch "shell". It was slightly spicy, but not much. In fact, there's hot sauces on the table if you need more heat. There was a nice amount of ground conch pieces in a tasty tomato based broth. It was big enough to share, btw. Then we got their combo steamed pot -- 1 dozen clams and 1 dozen oysters. This takes awhile to cook as we knew it would. So if you get one of these, order soup or an app while you're waiting. The clams are the cedar key ones. Small but tasty. We didn't use the melted butter, but asked for cocktail sauce instead. The oysters -- which you have to shuck with the provided knives -- were wonderful! I'd probably get all oysters next time. In the bottom of the pot are celery and onions which you can also eat. So glad we got to come here and enjoy lunch. We will be back next time on island.

Of course, we can always eat somewhere else, but our thoughts immediately went to the families whose livelihoods were affected by the fire. Since then, I've kept myself in the loop on everything happening on the island: what's reopened, what's gone for good and what's new. Enter Wickies, a breakfast, lunch and dinner spot with a full bar that fills a similar style to Island Cow. Even better, it's a collab between the former owners of Island Cow and another Sanibel favorite, the Mad Hatter. That definitely caught my attention. Wickies is on the smaller side and tucked in a little shopping plaza along Periwinkle Way. We first stopped in for breakfast and turned out to be a great choice. The breakfast crowd was lively and family-friendly with kids. I ordered the seafood omelet, which was packed with chunky, sweet crab meat and shrimp. The eggs could've been a bit fluffier and more moist, but the protein made up for it. Hubs kept things simple with a waffle topped with fresh berries, and we couldn't resist the two-for-one mimosas. Service was warm and attentive that morning. Our last night on the island called for a relaxing dinner and we decided to come back- especially after hubs spotted a chilled seafood platter on the menu that he wanted to try. The dinner vibe is calmer and more grown-up, making it the perfect place to unwind. I chose the baked grouper over seafood risotto and topped with a lobster cream sauce. It was delicious. Hubs ordered the bone-in pork chop and enjoyed it. Our server Candice was awesome every which way. One nice perk: after paying your dinner bill, you receive a 10% discount for ice cream next door at Magic Bus, which shares the same owner as Wickies. We gave it a try, but it just wasn't at all our favorite. Wickies totally impressed us on both visits. Tasty food, friendly service and a comfortable atmosphere was what we wanted.

Lighthouse Cafe managed to make a classic breakfast memorable. We ordered the French toast, and the portion was huge and easy to split. More importantly, it was absolutely delicious. The eggs we ordered were cooked exactly as needed, the bacon was perfectly crisp, and the cheese grits were rich, creamy, and full of flavor. We literally cleaned our plates and ate every bite despite our intentions to simple stop by for a taste. One of the biggest surprises was adding fish to breakfast. It's not something I would have ever thought to eat for breakfast, but it ended up being one of the highlights of the meal. The fish was incredibly tender and paired surprisingly well with the rest of the meal. It was such a unique addition that it changed the way I think about breakfast. We intentionally ordered some standard breakfast items because we believe that's the best way to judge a breakfast restaurant. If a place can make the classics exceptionally well, that's usually a great sign. Lighthouse Cafe exceeded our expectations across the board with their delicious plates and service. Not to mention it is nice to visit a locally owned restaurant whose owner is present and working alongside their staff. From the quality of the food to the generous portions, everything was excellent. If you're on Sanibel and want a breakfast that goes beyond the ordinary while still nailing all the classics, Lighthouse Cafe is a great place to visit.

There's numerous tv screens to watch all the games - some booths even have their own screen. Aside from the sports decor, The Sanibel Grill has a very similar menu to Timbers Restaurant next door - I'm pretty sure the two are one and the same and share the same kitchen. I ordered the Grouper Fish tacos. You can get them blackened, fried, or grilled. I opted for fried. Note that the Sanibel Grill is known for their signature cornflake crunchy batter - but the grouper fish tacos are the lightly breaded bites and not cooked in their signature batter. The grouper was nicely cooked - tender and delicate bites. They used corn tortillas, which didn't fall to pieces while eating, but they were pretty flimsy (it was easy for a grouper bite to roll out). The tacos are served with rice pilaf topped with black beans which was on the bland side (nothing to write home about). I would've liked a hit of lime to add to my tacos, but the waitress never came back to check on us. Service is minimal. This is bar service all around. My friend ordered the combo basket (Grouper and fried shrimp) and comes with a side of fries and cole slaw. You can hear the crunch - I can see why it's their signature. My sister ordered the shrimp scampi with rice pilaf (she was hoping for pasta but that was not a side option - it's either rice pilaf or potatoes - smashed, French fried, or sweet potato fries). It also came with fresh green beans. The shrimp were nicely cooked and super buttery. She also ordered the crab bisque which was creamy and had good crab flavor, but I wouldn't say it was overloaded with crab meat. We finished the meal with a slice of Florida's signature key lime pie. The slice was small but had giant key lime flavor. It was very sweet but this was my favorite key lime pie slice from our whole trip. The Sanibel Grill gave us average food and average service.
