We've never really had a bad experience at a Steak N Shake, but this place could've been better. Our waiter was Zaiyn, who was wonderful! We watched him do his best to correct the cook who got my order wrong, but they wouldn't correct it for him. When he brought it out to me, he was more than happy to send it back. We could tell he really cared about our experience there and he made sure we were ok several times! It is a shame the cooks don't care about getting the food correct. My husband's burger was also weirdly shaped lol. My main complaint about this joint is the cleanliness. We came for breakfast after not wanting to wait at The Waffle House (I'll get to your review next Waffle House). It wasn't terribly busy, we placed our order and after a VERY loooong wait, we noticed the gentleman that had been seated WELL after us was getting his food. The look on my face must have been somewhere between annoyance and sheer rage because it was at this point that the server decided to clue us in that they had run out of biscuits and were baking new ones for my order. So, once the food arrived it was excellent. Everything was hot and fresh and tasted great. The freshly made biscuits were crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The sausage and eggs were good (I always order them over medium because nobody on this planet knows how to cook a over easy egg. Thankfully, this cook also doesn't know how, so my eggs came out over easy as I wanted. It's going to be a sad day when I find a chef who knows what true over medium is, because then my eggs will be overcooked and not the over easy I want. LOL) My true complaint here was simply the lack of communication regarding the status of our order. I simply will not overlook when a server does not make an effort to come to the table and inform their guests that there is something that will be slowing the order down and offering their guest the chance to make an adjustment to their order (or agree to the wait time). It doesn't seem fair to me that you are left to wait, not even checked on to see if you need anything while you are waiting. It's almost like the servers think you don't notice the long wait time if they don't come over and draw attention to themselves. I actually get madder because I am feeling ignored. Ok, so to sum it up, food was excellent, the server was friendly, but it wasn't busy enough in there to explain why we couldn't be told about our wait time sooner than we were. read more

I came in and the servers just stood there while I'm waiting for be seated. Then I ordered the Frisco Melt but the server she brought me some kind of burger and said that I ordered that. I been here a lot, and only ordered the same thing over and over, I'm not happy when that food came out is not what I have ordered. I said I want my frisco melt not the burger and she said this is what I got, she doesn't care. And she walked away. Then I said I want to see the manager, that is when she came and took my plate. The night we visited they had a little business problem -- no shakes. We sat through much of our meal shake-less, and I finally asked to see the manager, who explained that "the system crashed." I don't really know what that means; the waitress took down our order on paper, couldn't that be used for reference when making the shakes? When the shakes finally arrived near the end of our meal, they kindly served them to-go, in styrofoam cups. I thought it might be a nice gesture to comp us for the shakes, but I guess that didn't occur to them. Very good value for the money, with many burger and fries plates for $4 or less. read more

Definitely an unorganized assumed franchise that needs major help and dedicated workers. We came in and no one was acknowledging us and when we finally asked they gave us menus and there was no server in the building. When we asked another time the lady she went to the back and no one came out and she never reappeared. Bad service is always associated with Steak 'n Shake and that's why it's hard to give this place another shot when you're feeling nice because you get backstabbed consistently. Eventually a young man came out and said they had no server and that we had to order at the front which was never communicated by anyone until this time. DO NOT EAT HERE!!!! I've been a frequent customer of this Steak 'n Shake location for years, and the service has always been horrible but this day took the cake. (8-26-20). I went during happy hour, around 4pm to be exact & I received my Cotton Candy Milkshake with HAIR in it. Not long hair but very short hair like from a beard or men's head that was scratched. IMMEDIATELY after I noticed the shake had hair on the whipped cream I turned back around & I arrived back at the location. I had to wait a little in line again so I went ahead and called the manager before hand to give a heads up. She played the victim, was not apologetic & basically blames me for the hair which is unacceptable!! I pulled up to the window and I hear the manager talking crap about me saying "You AINT even got no hair" (to the milkshake employee). She brings him to the window and says "He ain't do this, he ain't even got no hair, you got this from somewhere else) but indeed he did have hair.. it was just VERY short like the hairs on my milkshake. It was extremely unprofessional, rude and just POOR customer service. Yes I got my refund but, I can't go back to this location ever again. Upon entering this location I noticed that the staff was not very attentive and seemed lazy. My family and I were seated by the manager. When we sat at our table we couldn't help but observed the overall condition of the restaurant. It was poorly cleaned, it was too a point where we pointed it out to the manager who didn't really seem that concerned by us pointing this out to him. When the food finally came out it was not the way we ordered it on top of that we never were asked if he needed water or anything of that nature not even ketchup was on the table. Thanks for sizzling up my taste buds today! I'm a burger fanatic and love my meat fresh off the grill and juicy. Well, steak and shake definitely knows how to prepare a nice one. For over a year I've received their coupons in the mail (junk mail) and I've just thrown them away. Today I couldn't stop looking at the advertising of the guacamole burger. I'm in my second trimester of pregnancy so of course when I'm craving something, I MUST have it! Within an hour of reviewing and obsessing over the food porn they sent, I was in the car driving up the road to the nearest steak n shake. So grateful they have a drive thru. Wasn't looking forward to stepping out in pajamas with crazy hair! The food was ready in less than ten minutes and was everything I wanted in a burger. Did not like the fries at all! We tried the online order feature for the first time. When we arrived at the restaurant, a customer ahead of us at the register received their online order right away. When it was our turn, we had to wait 10 minutes before someone appeared behind the register. When an employee finally appeared, we asked about our online order. She just said "online order" to the other employees or cooks and never returned. It happened again with another employee. By this time, 25 minutes had passed. When the third employee appeared and we repeated the question, she turned back to the kitchen and returned with our order. However, our food was ready and had been sitting around all the time we waited. The bag contained cold food, and the milkshake we ordered had melted whipped cream. We explained our situation to the manager and he said we should've shown up when the food was ready 25 minutes prior, yet that was when we arrived at the restaurant. The manager also gave a "so what?" kind of attitude. We requested to have the order redone because we weren't going to settle for food that had been waiting around. The manager half-rolled his eyes after the request. Aside from us, other customers in the restaurant made complaints about not receiving (parts of) their orders. read more

People's experiences may be different but for mine experience in this restaurant was fantastic. For the Atmosphere, it gives me a little memory of old traditional american restaurants with its simplicity and relaxed environment. I did enjoy the vivid images on the wall of how Steak'n'Shakes looked like in the past. I felt cozy and very comfortable with the settings of this small restaurant. Next part I want to focus on is cleanliness. I was waiting for the staff cleaning my table a little bit when walked in but overall cleanliness was decent. But one thing that I did not feel comfortable is the cleanliness of utensils. I saw some stains from washing on the knife and fork but I am totally fine with that. For Food quality, I am kind of tired of regular fries so I switched to Cajun Fries which is very delicious and impressive with the cajun salt. I also did enjoy their burger. Needless to say, their food is good and tasty. Almost forgetting to mention the milk shake, I ordered a berry (I forgot what kind of berry it was) milkshake and it was awesome. It is flavorful, though it's a little sweet (I am not a fan of sweetness, but I happily enjoyed it because of good taste). Lastly, for the service, the server was nice and tentative. She visited us some time to ask me about the food and stuff. There is nothing I can complain about service here. It's just perfect. Overall, I like Steak'n'Shake. Lovely service, foods come out fast. I will definitely come back here or other Steak'n'Shake restaurant to see if there is any difference. I heard many people complaining about slow food and still gave it a shot anyway. Drive-thru customer service not very good at all. They advertise their app to get rewards and I get to the window and show the the app on my phone to scan and the lady looks at me all annoyed...ahh hello to you too. She tells me that I have to come inside to pay and when I ask why she mumbles...I just proceeded to give her my debit card instead and she says to wait cause the manager is coming to ring me up cause their machine doesn't work. Awful customer service! Don't advertise an app or rewards you don't support smh. Guess what? Just deleted the app to avoid wasting space on my phone with a ridiculous app you can't use. After getting a little too turnt at the beach today, all I had a hankering was some food in my vacant cesspool of a stomach. Upon arrival I was nervous at the notoriously slow service as I was craving a meal; today pleasantly surprised me. After being blessed with "Anthony" as our waiter everything changed forever. Anthony is by far the greatest waiter I have ever had the pleasure of being serviced by. With speed, accuracy, and an intriguing flair, Anthony was able to serve a rambunctious group of 12 without missing a beat. He even sliced lemons for our table when none were available. Truly a remarkable young man. Unfortunately, he is currently dealing with a crippling bout of insomnia (he adapts quickly to medication because of his "Russian soul"). This is the single worst steak and shake i have ever been to. We waited 10 minutes to be sat, waited another 10 minutes for them to take our drink order then 25 minutes later when our shakes still hadnt come out we complained to the manager who didnt seem to care and we left. This extremely rude man who barely understood english and seemed to not understand, does not know that we come here almost every week. He wore a blue shirt and if he was a manager, this establishment is in for some bullsh*t. He did not give us the correct order and gave us extremely small fries when we asked for a medium which is pretty big and it's the same order every time so we know what the size looks like. He ARGUED with both of us in the drive thru and proceeded to say that he can charge us an extra $4 to give us another fry. He was absolutely rude and kind of unintelligent like he's a grown man that doesn't understand the meaning of MEDIUM. We've never had this problem before and we were the ONLY ones in line. We paid $18 for two meals and he gave us the fries for the 4 for 4 meals. Left my fiancé raging about how rude he was. I wish i asked for his name because he needs to be trained or fired. He didn't even check the order, he said "there's no mistake and I can't do anything" if he's wearing a blue button up then he should have some sort of power. We come here probably 10 times a month, i'm not kidding it's the closest restaurant to our house. We have never once had this problem and it was like he was dumbf*cked and confused like he didn't know how to do his job. I'm a college kid who's worked multiple restaurants and I was the manager of one. THIS is unacceptable and i would never treat a customer the way he treated us. He was ANNOYED that we said something.
