Steak 'n Shake more like Steak 'n Suck. This place is terrible. After a long day of Cedar Point adventures 6 friends and myself stopped at Steak 'n Shake for a quick and cheap dinner. Little did we know the train wreck we walked into at 10:40pm. As we walk in we noticed the place was moderately busy but nothing a normal restaurant couldn't handle, as we stand there for 10 mins we notice no one said a word to us, except for one waitress who seemed to be busy bussing tables spoke up and told us someone would be with us momentarily. It was NOT momentarily, it was another 10 mins to be exact. So we sit down at our table at 11pm and we scan the menu. Many of us had been at steak 'n shake before so we knew what we wanted but NO one came to us to take even our drink order let alone our food. After another good 15mins we see a friendly face who assured us earlier that we would be taken care of, she AGAIN was taking care of other waitresses duties and told us that she would notify our waitress. Another 10 mins later we catch a glimpse of our waitress, Kim, who stumbled to our table asking if we were ready. Well Kim after searching the menu for 25 mins, yes, yes we are ready, Kim. So we order, each of us getting a meal and a milkshake. Pretty standard at this restaurant KNOWN for their meals and milkshakes. About 10 mins after ordering we received our water, after a few death stares and head turns we eventually received our meals, but NOT by Kim. It was by the waitress who was so helpful and kind. I was not able to catch her name but she was our saving grace. After receiving our meals, where one was not correct, we finally received our milkshakes, which were miraculously hand delivered by Kim herself. Kim passed our milkshakes out and forgot one. By the time our milkshakes that had melted due to them sitting out for so long arrived our meals were gone and we wanted out ASAP. We did not leave steak 'n shake until 12:30. As we get to the register we stand there for a quick 5 mins when then we were again greeted by our guardian angel waitress who again helped us since our waitress seemed to not care. Overall, I do not recommended this steak 'n shake and if I could give this restaurant 0 stars I would. read more

First of all the kitchen is dirty beyond belief. The floor looks like it hasn't been cleaned well in months. Under the booths is garbage and dirt. The service is terrible. The waitresses looked tired and overworked, but were unprofessional. While we were waiting to be served I spotted a waitress standing on her phone. We waited 35 minutes just to get water. Finally got our orders taken, and then waited another 30 minutes with no contact to our waitress. They brought our salads, but no silver wear. Took another 15 minutes to get silver wear. Then 20 minutes after that our burgers came out. It actually took longer to eat food here than it did at cedar point to ride millennium force. It was a total time of about an hour and half before we had all our food. The food was bland and not good at all. Fries were soggy, and the burger had no flavor. Now on top of all this every person in our group woke up throwing up the next day. This was the only food we all had in common for the day. We all most definitely had food poisoning from this place. It cost us another day at cedar point because we were all sick. This place needs a visit from the steak and shake HQ or the health department. read more

Worst Steak and Shake I've ever been to and that's coming from someone who loves the franchise. Management and service was terrible. When we got seated we waited 15 minutes and still didn't have any service. We asked the waiters and even manager for service and they just said "wait" rudely. I showed up with a group of friends after a long day at cedar point. It was already 9:54 by the time we arrived and were seated. It then took us 30 minutes to get our milkshakes and they weren't even what we ordered. Meanwhile, our waitress was nowhere to be found so we could not ask for an update on our meals. Currently, we are an hour into our wait since we arrived and there is no sign of our food anywhere. People who arrived significantly afterwards received their food before us. The wait staff has not yet apologized and I honestly doubt they will. After this experience I can assure anyone coming here will have to wait at least a month to get their meal along with the check. read more

A couple of weeks ago I got some coupons to go to Steak n' Shake and I thought I would give them a try. I pull up to the drive thru and it was at a standstill. I waited at least a 45 minutes to get a simple chilli mac. They would take an order and make an order before they would take the order of the next person. So I thought it was a fluke. There is no way they could be that pathetic. So last night I go and there is no line. I pull up to order and I am told that "there is a 20 minute wait for food because the fryer is down." This is at 9:30 pm. So I ask "Can I order something that does not come out of the fryer?". The response "let me check ma'am". I say "excuse me!" He said again "let me check again ma'am". He comes back and says "we can make a chilli mac ma'am." At this point I blow my cool and say "I am all man and just continue through the drive through. After cedar point closes this restaurant falls apart. I waited 25 minutes to be seated, then to even get water, and order food took another 30 mins. I felt awful because only one old lady was on floor while the rest of her co-workers plus manager didn't do anything to help her. The manger just looked and shrugged as she walked back away from dining tables. This evening I was in the drive thru waiting for 20 minutes or more so I understand they were busy but I even asked the employee at the drive thru if everything was there, he assured me it was. When I got back to my hotel room I only had one side of cheese sauce with maybe one squirt of cheese in it. Also our burgers were not cooked completely, the middle was still raw. I attempted multiple times to call the restaurant and couldn't get through. Poor customer service and they need to check their orders. read more

Nice setting could be a little cleaner(tabletops, bathroom). Service was good. Greeted, seated and waited on promptly. Food was good love the steak burgers. Will come again. Milkshake is superb the best one I have had in a while. read more

The Sandusky Steak and Shake was always hit or miss for me, and after too many misses I stopped going. I rarely went in and usually went through the drive through. Sometimes the food was okay and hot, but often times it was too greasy or cold too eat. I used to like to get the little sliders, but they were always so dry and shriveled up. It seemed as if they just scraped up all the gristle on the grill and put it on a little bun. The shoestring fries are great if you eat in, but don't even try it if you're doing the drive through. By the time you drive anywhere to eat them they're cold as ice. I would also recommend staying away from the garlic butter burger that they have. I got it once and it seriously looked like they had just dipped it in a vat of grease. It was sitting in a puddle of grease and it dripped all over me when I even tried to pick it up. The staff there is also hit or miss. Sometimes you get people that are decently friendly, and other times it's someone rude and cold. read more
