Well I ordered a cheesesteak and besides the fact they charge extra for cheese on a cheese steak is a bit odd and the fact it cost $15 with no extras, this must have been the worst cheesesteak I ever had. The meat was fairly good but it was the roll that made it awful. It was a really soft long roll that was almost as soft as a hamburger bun. It was so soft, it was soggy. I like a nice Italian roll and this was not it. So I wouldn't suggest the cheesesteaks here at all! read more

We have been enjoying Steak Out takeout (my rhymes are fire) every month or so since we moved to the area last fall. Our favorites include the cheesesteak hoagie, the Hawaiian pizza, the cheese fries and the Italian stromboli. Orders are always ready on time and the staff is really nice! Found the quesadilla we got to be a bit on the oily side, but otherwise, we've enjoyed our food, and everything's been great. I'm one of the older customers when they operated out of a shack across the street. So I've seen some changes over the years. I've had a few of there items but mainly stick to their steak/chicken sandwiches. I have to say I'm not impressed anymore. Steak cuts are not like they used to be. Meat had gristle and was sloppily made. Cheese and fried onions didn't help. Taste was bland. Fries are ok. And this was consistent over several orders. I hope they step it back up. My, how Steak-Out has grown! It's a full restaurant now, located across the street from its original location. There's a dining room, so you can eat in. We eat here at least once every time I visit. I've become a fan of their breakfast sandwiches. They are made fresh and use good ingredients. I like the egg, cheese, and broccoli rabe combo. Just be sure you like garlic, because those veggies have plenty of it! The sandwiches are HUGE, so go hungry. You may not need lunch that day. My bf is a fan of the egg with pepperoni. They offered to fry the pepperoni when he first tried it, and the crispy meat won his heart. The entire delicious mess is served on a large, fresh round Italian roll. I had to update my review because the husband (Philly cheesesteak snob/connoisseur) has now decided that Steak Out's cheesesteak has surpassed his favorite cheesesteak for the last thirty years. We have also enjoyed the pizza from Steak Out. Very impressive. So much so that it has also surpassed our previous local favorite. We ordered a large with extra cheese. This place is okay. To be fair, I am a vegetarian. I ordered a mixed cheese hoagie. The roll it came on was the perfect hoagie roll texture - my favorite aspect of the meal. The cheese was standard American and provolone, and they do that thing where they put way too much on. I asked for oil and vinegar but really couldn't taste it. It was to-go so I added both at home when eating it. There was a really wide drink selection, which I appreciate not being a soda drinker. I typically drink iced tea and hate nestea, so the brewed style tea in the fridge was a plus. I saw other things like the cold glass bottle of Starbucks fraps. My brother got a buffalo chicken cheese steak which he seemed to love. We also had a side of fries, which I didn't like that much. It's called "Steak Out," so one would expect steak fries or substantial fries at least. These ones were like imitation mcdonalds with less salt - very thin. I also got a side of potato salad which when I opened after getting home, discovered contained bacon, so I couldn't eat it. The menu said nothing about bacon! It was simply listed as "homemade potato salad." Bacon is not a standard ingredient in potato salad. Overall, I wouldn't recommend it to another veg and probably won't partake again myself. read more

I really love the cheesesteaks here although there are plenty of other menu items to choose from. You can get a cheesesteak just about anyway you can think of. My favorite is the philly. It has peppers, mushrooms, and onions. I tell myself the veggies off set the badness I am about to indulge in. You can take out or eat in. We often come on lunch and if you call ahead they'll have it all set up for you. Service is friendly and attentive. Prices are pretty fair as well. Have pass this place on many occasions and decided to stop in. So glad we did. I ordered a cheese whiz cheese steak and my husband ordered the cheese steak deluxe. My sandwich was better than Geno's Steaks in South Philly and huge. My hubby's sandwich was huge also, topped with lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles and came with a Large basket of nice HOT fries, small container of potato salad. We both took half of our sandwiches home. Only reason I did not give this place a 5 star was that the price for the Iced tea and Pepsi was $3 each. A bit too high for fountain drinks. read more

NEVER AGAIN..I ordered a whole pizza steak and repeated it twice because the guy was so short on the phone. I get there and the woman said a whole cheesesteak? I said "No" pizza steak extra sauce on the side. She tells the grill boy and he is fired up. Get this, as I stood at the counter, he unrolled the cheesesteak and put it back on the grill. Are you freaking kidding me???? I said, "No freaken way, I ain't taking that steak" and started walking out. The grill boy with a beard said "That isn't your steak, we're making you a new one!" Nothing too out of the ordinary, but they were just done really well. The steak was great, the onions tasted as if they used sweet onions as opposed to your typical white onions and the fries were probably the best I'd ever had at any run-of-the-mill pizza shop (which is what Steak Out ultimately boils down to) ... It is EXCELLENT! I am passionate about a good cheese steak with fried onions and this place did not disappoint me. They just won another award for their steaks and I can see why. The roll is perfect and fresh and they fill it with steak that tastes like it was just cut. The onions are sautéed with the steak, giving it an incredible layer of flavor and they will cheese it according to your instructions. I opted for American and it was perfect. These huge sandwiches are juicy, requiring the Philly Lean when you eat them or the juice will run down your arms and onto your clothes, and that's a good thing. For my first visit, I went natural and had nothing on the steak and it was the best I have had in NJ or PA, and that includes the two biggies and the other wanna be over in Philly. They have a huge menu, but if you want a cheese steak that rivals anything you can find around, head to Steak Out. You will not be disappointed. They have a BYOB license so bring your beer or wine and enjoy. Lots of seating room and the chairs are so comfortable and the service so good, you won't want to leave. This place is a real Gem. Local flavor, Local flair. Good solid food. One of the best cheese steaks any of us have ever had. I had the Ostrich. Pricey but well worht it. Flavorful without being gamey. Incredible. Due to a GPS glitch we ended up on the wrong end of 533 (about 10 - 15 miles away) and based on the reviews in Yelp we decided to turn around and go back. We looked up this place on Yelp while driving around & seen they had "whiz" steaks, thinking they used real cheese "whiz" we ordered 2 steaks with "whiz" & cheese fries thinking they would use cheese "whiz" on them too. We drive almost 20 minutes home, ready to eat, before too long we realized they don't use real cheese "whiz" but instead they use the same nasty cheddar cheese as everyone else. I was very disappointed because they have "whiz" on the menu like it's real cheese "whiz". It just ruined my entire experience at this place. Please remove the word "whiz" from the menu so nobody else makes the same mistake! read more

I'm a vegetarian so my choices are limited, but they will take special orders. My family loves the cheeses teams & highly recommends them. I've had the cheese hoagie. I'm very specific about it. I only want provolone & just 1/2 the amount of it. They get it right every time & it's always perfect. The hoagie roll is amazing. I've also had the pasta & the eggplant parmesan sandwich. I wouldn't recommend either. The portions are big, but I personally think they're overpriced. While everyone is perfectly nice there, the service is always slow for dine in. Pick up is usually ready when they say it will be. I wouldn't recommend going there if you're a vegetarian, but to be fair, the place is called the steak out & I'm told they're outstanding.
