Not sure how I have never reviewed this place. I go here really for the MEAT only. The plates come with plain rice (duh, Hawaii) and iceberg lettuce ("salad"). What keeps me coming back with more and more people is the meat. The rest of the food I unfortunately throw away (minus a little lettuce). I'm not a "meat lover". I love veggies. And mac salad. So when I say the meat is wonderful I am telling you that I'm ok paying $14 for shrimp and beef because its good af. I recommend any of the mixed plates. This was my first meal in Kailua and, boy, did it make me glad I was visiting. I wouldn't suggest eating in (4 bar stools and 3 barely spaced-out tables, fluorescent lights), but eat this food 100%. The steak is better than the chicken but both are good. You don't need much sauce to flavor it, but it does help mix it with the rice. Not much else to say--it's simple and it's delicious. read more

You're better off trying to find parking on the street than maneuvering their tiny parking lot which has only about 3-4(?) stalls. They also have shrimp and chicken, but I'm not really a fan of their chicken which is on the dry side. I've had the Steak and Shrimp ($7.50...INCLUDES A DRINK!) and I thought it was yummy. Fresh shrimp (Blazin Steaks uses Costco frozen shrimp) nicely grilled is a perfect partner to the steak. I've also had the "Kailua Special Mix" ($12) which has Kalbi, Chicken & Garlic Shrimp. The Kalbi was tender and had great flavor, the Chicken was moist and the shrimp was good (not Giovanni's good, but good). Service is always good. The only problem people may have is the location. I was craving some steak and found this little gem on yelp (obviously, because I'm constantly on yelp trying to find good places to try lol). I was looking for something fast, but unfortunately, everyone else on the island seemed to be thinking the same thing. I called in my order, and since the 2 or 3 spaces out in front were full, I snuck into the parking lot next door. I was a little surprised, even after reading the reviews that the place was awkwardly situated in the corner of a liquor store. There are a couple tables, and some counter seating, but it was all full when I was there. There was also a long line of people ordering and picking up food. I waited in line to pick up my food and noticed that they had an ATM nearby for people who didn't have cash (those people obviously don't use yelp). The people waiting in line and eating at the tables were a mix of military guys and locals. Steak is steak!! I ordered the steak and shrimp plate. I enjoyed the shrimp and the steak was good. It wasn't anything super exceptional, but I guess because it's relatively expensive, it fits the bill. Steak Rave is basically a blazing steaks, even the condiment sauces are similar. I will say though that the cashier was very sweet. She was an older asian woman and very patient, even with the long line. I just wish they would have had a pick up line and a separate ordering line. CASH ONLY! Hidden gem in Kailua! Have been coming here for a couple of years and the food has remained inexpensive and delicious. Every time we have repeat visitors, they want to come back to this spot. HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend the steak sandwich -- it's like an uncrustable but with STEAK! Winner. Only downside is they don't seem to have it all of the time (would call ahead). If no sandwich is available, we usually get the steak plate -- so much food/bang for your buck! This is a great find inside a very unassuming "Oneawa Market" (check out my photos to see the outside). Hole in a wall. We didn't know where to look other than the big "steak" sign in the windows and sure enough, there it is. On the inside of the market place - it's easy to miss! Plate lunches/dinners on a menu on the wall. Ranges from $8-15. We got the kalbi and garlic shrimp plate ($15). Comes with rice and salad. The Kalbi was very well seasoned and freshly grilled. The garlic shrimp was so so good! Delicious buttery salty flavor that goes so well with the rice. When we first arrived around 11:30 we were the second party there. 5 minutes later, there was a line! Limited seating (2 booths and 3 bar stools along the window). Fast turnaround. A great option for a fast lunch. If you walk inside further, it's a convenience store with tons of drinks to choose from. Parking is limited outside. But there is a froyo place next door and parking available on that side of the building. CASH ONLY. read more

If you didn't know any better you might pass this place up, but located in a local liquor store, Steak Rave is cooking up some really ono eats. Their steak is always perfectly cooked and their noodle dishes are huge and really satisfying. For the price, you pay the portions are huge and it's nice to have some freshly cooked food, even if it's not the healthiest of dishes. The only downfall to this place, at least for people like me, is that it is cash only so come prepared. read more

I normally get the large steak plate. When you get your plate put the sauce all over! My family members always order the steak with noodles or chicken with noodles. Great food for a pretty good price. I love that the meats are cut up small so no knife required and makes it so much more manageable for those with braces. This no frills place is attached to a minimart and serves up amazing food at very reasonable prices. They have a couple of places but you can of course also take it to go! We came after a hard day of laying out on a nearby beach and taking a dip in the ocean every once in awhile. We were unreasonably ravenous. This place is known for their steak and shrimp. Unfortunately, I'm allergic to shrimp. However, they had a Kailua mix plate which served beef, pork and chicken along with rice and a side salad. That was so fantastic! After reading all the glowing reviews on Yelp, we had to give this place a try. we maneuvered the car into one of the weird parking spots along the side of the building and adventured in. Yes, it shares space with a liquor store (that has jars of li hing mui), but I digress. We ordered the steak and shrimp and the steak with noodles and garlic shrimp on the side. It was okay. The shrimp were a little scrawny and over peppered for my taste. The steak was well-seasoned (and you gotta add the Korean BBQ sauce on the counter), but drier than I was expecting. I took a bite of the noodles, and that was enough for me. The lady at the counter was pleasant and the food took only a few minutes longer than one trip around the liquor store. All in all, not a bad place for a steak plate, but the awkward parking and liquor store vibe may keep me away. read more

This is a must stop place if you're visiting the island and want some good food. Don't be fooled by the exterior of the place inside of this little convenience store hides one of the best little restaurants on the island. The woman who runs it is always so nice and welcoming and the food is just as great as the service. Cheaper than most restaurants that populate this beautiful island but just as good as the rest. It was quite tricky, I didn't realize the steak place was inside the convenient store.They also dont accept credit cards and their steak plates do not include drinks anymore but other than that, the steak itself was amazing!!!! I did a quick Google for steak places nearby and "OK Google" showed me this place with pictures of food in take out plates! I had a hard time finding it as it is located inside of the Oneawa Market! My boss loves to come here for lunch so I've had Steak Rave several times. You really can't beat the price for a pretty decent steak and shrimp combo plate which is less than $10! The menu is pretty simple and you can make it healthy by substituting white rice with brown rice or just greens. I've had both steak and chicken and I don't really have any complaints other than the chicken was a little dry despite it being thighs and not the breasts. I chuckle at the location because it's in the most random place-inside of a liquor or corner convenient store. It totally has that mom and pop's vibe. There never is a wait longer than 15 minutes even if it's always busy. The place accepts cash only which can be disappointing for all you plastic users so come prepared. If you're in the area and in the mood for steak but don't want to pay a fortune for it, then Steak Rave is where it's at.
