Banana bread donuts and Cream Cheese donuts
Donna O.

This location parking is okay. I'm glad they have drive thru pick up since I do a lot mobile order and pick up through the drive thru especially if there's no parking. When I order Keiki meals, maybe one time I got the paper for the token and two times got the toy capsules. All the other times, nothing would be given so it's sad they are not consistent in giving. I do go inside the fast food side at times, if I haven't decided what I wanted. The bakery displays are on the smaller side and by the early evening, most of the good bake goods are sold already. There's a lot tables inside on the fast food area. It brings back memories of my parents and my mom's siblings would meet for breakfast and stay until lunch time. Not too many family restaurants and fast food dining in Kailua. The prices are less on the fast food counter side than the dining in prices at the restaurant with their kitchen fees. You can only get the clubhouse from the restaurant side and you can do a take out, but have to order it from the restaurant's side. We have been dining inside most time and at times it's not as crowded at all when you go during a non busy hour. The air conditioning is actually really cold and you may need to bring a jacket. Recently the air conditioning wasn't working so it was hard to bear. The great waitresses here made me want to dine in more. They are all nice but our favorite is Sue short for Susan. She works 3x a week and she always friendly and remembers your name, & to ask you for your phone number for your zipster rewards! She always updates us on your points or any rewards to use. Excellent service from Sue and she made sure we are happy with our food. One time my clubhouse sandwich had limply bacon and green tomatoes. She made sure the bacon was crispy instead of soft and limply. Another benefit in dining in, is you can order some breakfast items all day. I Don't forget to sign up with their Zipsters reward program. It's worth it. Just make sure you use the points before it expires! You can see in your Zippy's app that not every location cost the same for the same dish. Kailua's prices seem to be less than the town Zippy's.

My Zippys Korean Chicken Salad

I would give NO stars if it was just based on their advertised golden fried chicken. However, the chili rice with onions was good and their warm macaroni salad not good. The macaroni salad should be chilled. It hasn't mattered that ordering fresh from the dining side, counter or delivery. Their chicken is usually burnt, dry or refried in oil just so it warm or hot. This zippys has the WORST fried chicken. I have no idea why they keep doing this.

I think I've been to Zippy's three times already since I moved to Hawaii. I've fallen in love with this diner. The last time I came I tried the oxtail soup. It was very good so I tried it for the second time along with their Korean fried chicken. On my most recent visit, I finally tried the famous Zip Pac... and wow. I don't usually go for fish, but I actually loved it. That's because I'm not a fish person. Their bakery goods are always delicious. Their salad was very fresh and crispy. Unpictured but I actually tried two other pastries which was a mango cake and a flaky dessert that had fruit compote in it. You can't go wrong with going to Zippy's if you're looking for a nice Hawaiian meal! If you're also looking for a spot that gives great desserts and coffee, look no further.

My husband is traveling for work and spending time in Hawaii right now. He recently tried this restaurant for breakfast. The atmosphere was great! The restaurant is clean and well appointed. The staff was very friendly, and the food was delicious. My husband got the Breakfast Bento box with spam and corned beef. He said it was great! If you're looking for a place to try something a little more authentic, you definitely want to check this place out.

Biggest rip off ever large chili bowl with rice 3/4 of the bowl was rice i swear like 2 tablespoons of chili this place is ridiculous
Ryan O.

What a rip off large chili rice over 3/4 of rice with barely any chili this place is ridiculous #boycott

I had my first Zippy last week. It was okay. Chilli with spaghetti. It seems like a popular spot but seems like a dying chain to me? A bit dated but basic no frills food.

This weeks special. Korean chicken with chili rice and Mac salad.

I have NEVER had a bad meal at Zippys!! Some locations better than others (but that's based on neighborhood, parking, or service) Can't be in Hawaii and not eat Zippys!! Chili spaghetti, loco moco, and with Napoleons bakery attached, you really can't go wrong!

Chili & fries

No issues with service, and only ordered chili with fries, both so underwhelming - didn't like either item. Not sure what all the hype is, probably ordered wrong thing, maybe next time will try the Korean chicken and cornbread. But everything in the dessert case just looked old, dry and sad..not sure there will be a next time.

Extra skimpy mini noodles! $10 for half a mini. Do better Zippy's. This place is always hit or miss and today 11/15/24 @ 645pm whoever was in the kitchen was packing rip offs

Korean bbq chicken was a good snack and the rice and Mac salad were filling
Ramiro H.

I had the Korean chicken and it was pretty good. They have an extensive menu and some other things I'll probably come back and try. The location is good and the staff is very friendly. It's hard to give any fast food spot more than 3 stars because of how it's all just mass production. I enjoy all fast food but it has to be exceptional to get more than 3 stars. Either way, I look forward to trying more of the menu later down the road.

Lots of parking available. This location has the bakery and restaurant. Our fave dish is the oxtail soup and it didn't disappoint. Seemed to have even more oxtail than usual. Kids loves the chili and the Korean fried chicken. Service was fast despite having a large party. Really like how they have the removable wall so the family can feel like they are sitting together.

This is my first time at Zippys. I love the ambience and that it seems to be a local favorite in HI. I was very pleased with the loco moco and it was delicious and filling. Also ordered the April special of miso chicken salad. Although it tasted ok, it was such a tiny portion of chicken. I believe there were 5 pieces of chicken that weighed around 3-4 ounces at the most in total. The service was great. Staff was all smiles. The soda is ridiculously overpriced.

It was my first time here, is it normal that the food is served cold?

It's not normal. It does happen though. I suggest letting the restaurant know about your experience or you can fill out an online form on the Zippys website to file a complaint.

Can you buy chicken by the piece? 9 is too many and I don't want rice and mac salad

Aloha Rob! Yes, you may definitely purchase our fried chicken by the piece.

The parking lot is pretty big so you have a pretty good chance of finding parking.  The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating.   My friends and I chose the outdoor seating and we were glad we did.  With the covered, large patio area, you get the cool breeze and fresh air.   Just sitting outside you feel comfortable to relaxed!   Note:   You will get occasional birds that come by....but we didn't find it to be problem at all. We decided that we were gong to each order a different thing and share.   We ordered the following: CHORIZO SHRIMP OMELETTE - If you love a bit of spice like me, you'll love this.   I remember having Mexican chorizo in California and this has the same taste.   The omelet is packed with flavor and it's HUGE!   We ordered it with the fried potatoes.   I honestly could've just eaten this omelette, it was that good!! FRENCH TOAST -- ya gotta get that little bit of sweetness to enjoy with your coffee!    They serve sweet bread french toast.   It's very similar to others that I've had at other places.  Not unique but it was good. CORNED BEEF HASH WITH EGGS - This was a special request from one of my friends.  Homemade corned beef hash -- you can't go wrong.   I think the other winner on this plate was those crunchy....super crunchy tater tots.  OMG, they were so good!!   I think the next time I will order this with an over-easy egg so I can dip those tots in my yolk ---- you'all know the goodness in that, right?!!! I definitely recommend!    The prices are pretty reasonable and the portion sizes are big.   I totally recommend everyone ordering a dish and do family style so you can sample a taste of everything!

Inside is airconditioned with around maybe 10 tables and chairs some seat 2 others eat 4 and they also have outside patio seating back and front. The parking can be challenging having maybe 10 -12 spots in their lot and some street parking . Their Menu is a bit more limited than their other location. Apparently, they've been in business for 12 years or so...not familiar with Waimanalo in any way. They have a decent looking acai bowl menu so I tried one on both occasions. The acai bowl can be a bit hackneyed but the menu caught my eye. They offer 16 and 24 ounce options. Makapu'u Bowl and Mana Bowl both have an acai sorbet base. The former features Okinawan sweet potato and haupia; the latter, coconut chia parfait and blueberries. They both had bananas and hemp granola...a standout. Both really were fantastic. I had a Caramel Macchiato by accident. I ordered a macchiato - which by their menu description was a traditional macchiato. But I went with it and the Caramel Macchiato ( by Starbucks definition) was actually quite good. Also, had a special drink menu item...near the POS...Iced Brown Sugar Latte. This was quite sweet but refreshing. They serve standard breakfast fare - waffles and pancakes; also standard local plate lunches. They operate from 830a to 400p - closed on Sunday and Monday.
