This place knows how to make chicken. I've been here before and got the half chicken $17.49 with side and drink. This time I got the pulled bbq chicken sandwich $16.79 with a side and drink, plus $1.50 uncharge for the sweet potato fries. I love that their bbq sauce is a bit sweet and smoky. It paired well with the coleslaw that was on the bland side. The coleslaw would not have been good by itself, but was fantastic on top of the sandwich. The sandwich was good, but I prefer the half chicken more. Their chicken pieces are tender and juicy. It also has terrific flavor and comes with a dipping sauce. The two sauces that I like are Island Teriyaki and Smoky BBQ. read more

If I were writing this review just about my own experience, it would be 5 star - just sayin'! We came from the Dole Plantation and were looking for a good place to eat on a very rainy day. Found Maui Mike's on Yelp and stopped for lunch (parking is not easy fyi). It's a hole in the wall type place, which matters not at all when you are enjoying the food! I had the pulled bbq chicken sandwich which was excellent. Tender chicken, tasty bbq sauce mixed with the cole slaW - YUM. We stopped by for the fire roasted chicken and it was absolutely delicious! The chicken tasted incredibly fresh, juicy, and perfectly cooked. You can really tell the ingredients and preparation are high quality. Everything came out hot and flavorful, and the portions were great as well. Friendly service and a wonderful overall experience. The husband and I ordered the half chicken to share, which was moist. Just the chicken itself was pretty tasty, but the sauces gave it the extra kick in flavors. The sides of fries were pretty standard. Staff was welcoming and nice, store is decently sized with seating inside and out, and parking wasn't an issue. This location is top notch 5/5 stars for the chicken fast food genre of restaurants (not fancy food restaurants .) We try to do carry out about once a month when we are in the area. Food: 5/5 The half of a roast chicken is one of our favorites. It's always moist on the inside and crispy on the outside and evenly seasoned. Even the child's meals (with drumsticks) are moist and not overcooked. The sandwiches are tasty. We like the slaw, baked beans, french fries, and sweet potato fries, too. FYI- this is NOT Huli Huli chicken. This is just a roasted chicken, like the ones you get at Costco. We yelped "Huli Huli" and saw some people's reviews here, not sure if they once upon a time sold it, but don't confuse this with Huli Huli. The chicken was not bad, it was just a roasted chicken. It wasn't dry, and didn't have a ton of seasoning, but just the right amount. The chicken was roasted well. We ordered the family meal with a whole chicken, and 2 sides- slaw and fries to share with 4 people. If comparing to Costco, Costco is a true taste to rotisserie, it's very juicy. Mauis Mike isn't as juicy, but still tasty. If you're looking for Huli Huli, this is not. If you're looking for a regular roasted chicken lunch, this is your spot. read more

They have a broad selection of chicken dishes, but my favorite would have to be the whole chicken. You can get different kinds of sauces. One of my favorite favorites is the mustard honey sauce. Also, their sides are very delicious. The baked beans and coleslaw are among my top two favorites. They also make sandwiches. The portions of chicken and fries were good and the chicken was roasted to perfection. Skin wasn't super crispy, but that was okay. White meat was juicy and not dry at all. The dark meet was sweet and succulent. Fries were...meh... It's hard to get sweet potato fries to stay crispy. Both sauces were very good, but the honey mustard seemed a bit watered down with mayo. More mustard, please. Service is prompt and courteous. They say it may take a while since everything is cooked to order, but my plate came out in less than 10 minutes. Wow, what a surprise for me. I pass here all the time and finally made a stop to give it a try. The atmosphere was cozy and had a relaxing feel. I saw the owner, he was giving a little history of his restaurant to a customer. The cashier was very pleasant and gave her recommendations to try the half chicken because it came with dark and white meat. I got to say it was super good! We really do enjoy the food here. When it's busy they tend to drop the ball on customer service which is understandable. But mobile orders don't seem to be their priority when there's a rush. I had Maui Mike's before but at the Wahiawa location and I remember it being so juicy and flavorful so I had to get some. I realized we should've just went to L&L. We were so disappointed.... the chicken I got was really dry. Each bite had to be dipped in the sauce but then my sauce ran out :( ahhh. Also, the size of the chicken was smaller than I remember. I loved the simple menu set up that was posted up on the wall by the ordering counter, as they had set combo menu items, and all you had to do is pick the number. Upon looking over the menu I decided on get da numba #2, which consisted of 1/2 a chicken, drink, and a side (I got Mike's Fries). The numba #2 also included two dipping sauces so I picked the Island Teriyaki, & BBQ Sweet. My friend ended up ordering the number #1, which consisted of 1/4 chicken, drink, & a side (she got da Cajun Fries). The number #1 also included a dipping sauce so my friend ordered the honey mustard. What can I say about the grub? The Roasted Chicken was F.A.B.U.L.O.U.S!!! The chicken was juicy, and marinaded/cooked to perfection!!! The chicken meat was so soft that it fell off the bone very easily. As for the Fries that we got, the fries were more like a shoestring fries. I'm not a big fan of that, and had I known about that, I'd probably would have picked a different side. You can find this in a strip mall area with plenty of parking. Prices were good for the amount you got. Everyone liked what they ordered minus the standard fries. Cool spot to grab food if in a rush.
