Honey Bourbon Beef Tips w/loaded baked potato
Krisdena R.

Came here for a birthday dinner. For a Monday, dining room was quiet for dinner service. Ordered Pecan Crusted Chicken with loaded garlic mashed potatoes, Honey Bourbon Beef Tips with loaded baked potato, Shrimp Caesar Salad, and Kids Grilled Cheese with sweet potato mash. Bread (served with whipped butter) was fresh & delicious. Crab & Corn Chowder was tasty but thin like a soup (I expect a chowder to be thick) and very little crab & corn (mostly broth). Husband had Black Bean soup and seemed to enjoyed it. Server was being shadowed and the extra hands were helpful (we enjoyed the extra attention). Food arrived promptly and to temp. Pecan Crusted Chicken was tender and juicy. The bourbon cream sauce was more of a thick glaze (lacked cream?), was thick and very rich (fortunately it was on the side). Husband tips were ordered medium rare and a bit more red than anticipated but he rather have his steak slightly underdone vs overdone (menu has description of various temps for reference). Oldest child demolished her Shrimp Caesar Salad. Youngest child enjoyed her grilled cheese and sweet potato mash. Portions were decent, servers were attentive. Ambience was intimate. Definitely would consider visiting again for special occasion.

Classic Savannah Chicken Onion rings Mashed sweet potato

Yikes, this place left a ton to be desired. Food was ordered to-go, and the first issue noticed was that they provide extremely flimsy plasticware. You know what I'm talking about. For a steakhouse, imagine trying to eat a steak or chicken with flimsy silverware. For the prices they charge, they could at minimum provide sturdier utensils. Even much cheaper restaurants will provide that. Second, most if not all the food is premade or frozen. Onion rings taste exactly like the frozen kind you get at Walmart. The chicken tenders are $15 and you get 3 measly looking tenders hardly bigger than a chicken nugget. The grilled chicken entrees are so dry and so tough that you literally can't bite through the exterior from how old/dry it is. I will give credit to the sweet potato mash as it was actually pretty tasty. Lastly, the bread pudding is terrible. The inside is completely dry with zero flavor, and it tastes exactly like a prepackaged angel food cake. This can't be made in house as any other bread pudding I've ever had was actually flavorful, moist, and decadent throughout the entire bread. Another gripe is that the restaurant is knowingly practicing fraudulent business practices. Their online menu does not mention anywhere that they will increase all menu prices by 3% if you pay by credit card. Their online menu prices are NOT what you will actually be charged if you use card. Most businesses have to explicitly state this surcharge both on physical and digital menus. The fact that they don't do that here is really misleading and not a business to support. And then on top of that they have the gall to calculate tip percentages on the surcharge price. So if you pay with card, your tip they calculate is also inflated. I don't recommend coming here if you're looking for quality food by an honest business.

We went here on a business trip with a group of seven. We were overall disappointed. Everything was way overpriced. Here is a breakdown: The Good: Fried Green Tomatoes appetizer was really good! The brussel sprouts were good. Wine had a heavy pour, and the berry mojito was awesome. Steak was high quality meat. Service was good. The Bad The tiny shrimp in the Grilled Voodoo Shrimp appetizer was a huge letdown. For $18, the shrimp should not look like they came off a shrimp ring from Walmart. The Ugly: The steak tasted like a blend of lighter fluid and liquid smoke. It was awful. The crab cakes looked like smash burgers. They were so thin. They were so overpriced. We will NOT be back.

Beef short rib over grits

Not a thrilling visit. Went for a birthday party. Everyone who ordered seafood was impressed. I got beef tips over grits and was underwhelmed. No flavoring at all and the sauce advertised on the menu was either a very small portion or missing as it was quite dry. Our server was excellent, but I'm not sure that's enough to return.

Steak street Ribeye with Brussel Sprouts. Sprouts to done, but good flavor. Steak AMAZING.

Was a little nervous to start. We were seated and hostess didn't tell server. Server came over, apologized and sent manager. Manager apologized and offered free dessert. That was above and beyond and appreciated. We didn't prompt or ask. Ambiance was great. Live music tonight. We were nervous. Sometimes it's just too loud with live music. The music selection was perfect, volume loud enough to know its live and soft enough not to disrupt the meal. Just right. The food was wonderful. The sprouts were a little overcooked (too crunchy/oily) but good flavor. The steak I ordered was cooked a little more than I ordered but was so full of flavor and tender I still really enjoyed it. We will return but only on special occasions. :)

I had not been to this upscale restaurant on the far western side of Greensboro in quite awhile, so I decided to have lunch there recently. The interior is nicely appointed with a modernistic theme. My experiences here have been hit or miss, and the misses are a bit painful since this is not an inexpensive spot, and finding a value meal here is hard to, if at all possible. I was quickly seated, menu provided, drink order secured. I decided on a Shrimp Cocktail, and Baby Back Ribs with Onion Rings as a side. The Stella Artois was soon on the table, quickly followed by the Shrimp Cocktail, featuring 5 well sized, very fresh tasting shrimp. The cocktail sauce was excellent with just the right amount of horseradish - sharp but not too much. The Ribs were very nice, as well - very tender, almost falling off the bone. The sauce was a nice combination of sweet and spicy , bring the dish together very well. The Onion Rings were the lesser item in this meal, not bad, just OK! This was a nice meal in a very pleasant environment. The food and service were stars on this trip. This place continues to surprise and confuse a bit - each trip is a package waiting to be opened, the contents unknown. I do gamble some, so I roll the dice again at a later point.

Shrimp & grits

Nice ambience, music & good food.I had the shrimp & grits and it was delicious. The entertainment solo player was very good. Don't order the well Vodka- Smirnoff - gives me a headache.Service was spot on!

Ate here Saturday with a reservation at 5:00. We were taken to our table as soon as we arrived. The waitress was beyond amazing explaining their signature steaks and checking in with us regularly. I had a perfectly cooked ribeye with a baked potato and salad. The bread that's served with every meal was hot and fresh. I love the quiet atmosphere with decor that makes you feel as though you are in a garden. Def a wonderful experience and highly recommend for a night on the town.

This is a regular stop for my work dinners. The appetizers win the show for me. It's not the place I order a steak- even though their name steers you otherwise. The salmon, Cajun dishes, and jambalaya are all some of my favorites. The service is great. Love the bar. Needs a decor uplift for sure. Consistent food !

Birthday dinner with my Ace and sisters! The ambiance was wonderful especially with the live music! The staff was friendly and food was delicious! Couldn't take anything home because I ate it all! The salmon was very moist and seasoned well.

We didn't have reservations but were seated right away, which made for an easy start to the evening. The space has a modern, relaxed vibe that feels perfect for a casual dinner or drinks. We started with the Lobster Nachos, which were a fun twist since they're made with crispy potato wedges instead of chips. They were topped with lobster, bacon, scallions, and a creamy sauce: rich, indulgent, and great for sharing. For the main dish, I had the Ribeye steak with a side of cauliflower mash. The steak had a nice sear and great flavor, and the cauliflower mash was smooth, creamy and delicious, making it a great alternative to traditional mashed potatoes. A solid first visit with flavorful dishes and a welcoming atmosphere. Earl's Landing is a great new addition to the downtown High Point dining scene, and I'm looking forward to coming back to try more of the menu. Try the Lobster Nachos if you want something unique to share, they're a standout starter.

It closed in early February for what were supposed to be renovations, only to reopen months later with a new name and a new concept, trading slightly upscale Southern for more upscale Italian. In some regards, this makes sense - it fills a void created by the closure of Lulu and Blu - but in other ways, it's a massive gamble. My wife and I went for our anniversary dinner, and while it was an overall pleasant experience, it also made us miss Magnolia. The higher price point is the chief culprit. Otto and Blue offers pastas in the $20s and entrees starting in the $30s, bread and olive oil not included. While we were celebrating an occasion that merited such a splurge, it's hard to imagine the restaurant remaining competitive at those prices once the sheen of newness wears off. Look past that, however, and Otto and Blue shines in both ambiance and service. It's classy without being stuffy, and the dark turquoise tones suit it well. Allison, a Magnolia Blue mainstay, was personable and attentive and provided excellent service throughout the meal. Otto and Blue's menu offers apps, salads, pastas, and entrees. It's predominantly Italian albeit with a few options for the steak-and-potatoes crowd. The dishes range from recognizably classic (rigatoni Bolognese) to conspicuously elevated (halibut piccatta). After mulling over several offerings, we went with the bread service, tagliatelle, and duck cacciatore. The food ranged from fairly good to outstanding. While $9 for bread is a tough pill to swallow, they executed it as well as they possibly could have: a hot, fresh ciabatta with tasty herb butter, olive relish, and a quality olive oil-balsamic combo as accompaniments. The cacciatore boasted a pair of duck legs confit, and while I'm usually no fan of dark meat poultry, these were prepared well with crispy skin and plenty of meat. For a typically hearty dish, the sauce seemed light (and a bit subdued), but that could be a consequence of serving atop polenta (more absorbent) rather than pasta. Speaking of pastas and sauces, the tagliatelle hit a nice balance of creamy and zesty without swimming in its white wine lemon sauce. Surprisingly, the highlight of the meal ended up being the dessert that Otto and Blue kindly offered as an anniversary gift. A scoop of vanilla bean gelato came adorned with a Biscoff cookie, a drizzle of olive oil, and a dash of salt. If salt and especially olive oil on ice cream seem vaguely blasphemous, don't knock it until you try it. Each bite was thoroughly delicious. It's a given that good food doesn't come cheap, but even so, Otto and Blue has no margin for error to justify what it charges. On food alone, it was close but not quite there. However, the overall experience made it worthwhile, and I have no regrets about dining here.

I don't know if the ownership has changed or if they just made some decisions to alter things, but either way it changes our opinion of the place. First and most important for us, they used to be the only place we were aware of in NC to get Gluten Free Crab Cakes which was a major reason we frequented Sammy G's. That has apparently changed and the new Gluten Free menu is basically just the meats menu which is a real shame. It looks like they have made some other small changes to the regular menu as well, none of those were all that concerning but the loss of this GF treat is a real blow for us. If you are a celiac and found reviews about the GF crab cakes, please be aware they appear to be gone now. Additionally, the prices across the menu seem to have gone up by a few dollars. When you consider that Sammy G's was never a cheap place to eat, and given the state of the economy these days, that actually does come out to a noticeable change and makes it harder to justify going. However, with the loss of the old GF options, it's unlikely we'll come back anywhere near as often as we used to.

It's hidden away off the main stretch, but easy to get to with parking on-site. When we arrived at 5pm, the restaurant was fairly empty and they were already set up and waiting for our group reservation. We were greeted by Freya, who had a great personality and provided fantastic service all evening while we were there. Can't speak highly enough of her! They have a comprehensive wine menu and a full bar. I started with a Lemon Drop Martini which was delicious, and later had a glass of Merlot as well which was tasty as well. They had warm fresh bread on the table with butter which was great since we were all very hungry. For my meal, I ordered the Halibut Large Plate. This was a lightly crisp blackened piece of Halibut topped with lump grab and a sauce, then served atop a piece of andouille sausage, asparagus, and creamy grits. There were SO MANY flavors perfectly balanced together here with a variety of textures to enjoy as well. I have nothing but good things to say about this. Blue Water Grille is fairly expensive and not somewhere you would come regularly, but for a special outing or a date night it is a great treat. The menu is seafood heavy and non-seafood items also pack a lot of flavor, so be aware that there are limited options for that picky eater in your party who perhaps wants a more plain chicken dish. As an aside - Someone in my party got the Mac & Cheese small plate and it looked fantastic. Definitely something I'm going to order next time!

It's a flavor bomb in the mouth. The meatloaf, is to die for. If you're a meatloaf eater this is for you. It's so tender and juicy and perfectly seasoned. Melts in your mouth and the sauce on top is the perfect blend of sweet and savory to top it off. For my two sides this time I chose the fried brussels sprouts and the greens. This was a good call because the portions were just right with sides. All three of us had filets, and I added the surf-and-turf option with a lobster tail, Cabernet mushrooms, and asparagus with béarnaise. The flavors worked well together. We paired dinner with a bottle of Caymus and were impressed by the depth of the wine list -- some serious bottles on there, including Opus One. Service was smooth and perfectly paced. We were seated in the back of the restaurant, which has a cozy, library-like feel with a gas fireplace. We didn't have room for dessert, but the menu featured plenty of classic steakhouse options. For that price point, I expected quality and execution. It just wasn't there. The short rib was very tender, I'll give it that. But it was swimming in a heavy gravy with potatoes piled on top and steamed spinach hidden underneath, which made the whole dish soggy and overly heavy. Then there was a random orchid blossom and a branch of whole parsley on top (mine had a flower, too), which felt completely out of place. The beef medallions were the bigger issue -- no sear at all and they had a slightly gamey flavor (which I'm hoping doesn't come back to bite me later). Honestly, the l'orange sauce was the best part of the dish and the only thing saving it -- without it, the plate would have been close to inedible. The "crispy potato medley" was neither crispy nor seasoned -- and I mean not even salt. It was mostly zucchini, squash, and red bell pepper with zero flavor. All 6 of the tiny potato cubes themselves tasted like they came straight out of a freezer bag. Nothing was inedible, but nothing justified the price. The whole experience felt pretentious without actually delivering on quality or execution. I will say -- the staff was very nice and attentive, which was the highlight of the experience.
