My husband took me here last night for my 48th birthday. We had a 5:30 reservation and although it was prom and market that night, we arrived before the crowds showed up. I am not one to post reviews as my husband and I have both worked in the restaurant industry and we get it, every place has an off day...but this was just a sh*t show. To summarize: 10 minutes to get our very complicated drink order of a beer and glass of wine. Appetizer took almost an hour to get with arrived with the bread. Also during this time 2 other tables who were seated after us received their meals. My $56 filet was RAW when it came an hour and 20 minutes after ordering and had to send back. My husband's $48 carriage house 12-oz. Ribeye was raw and fat was not rendered. We were late for a movie so decided not to go Karen on the manager and paid and left. This place used to be good but has definitely gone downhill. We paid $223.95 for what was comparable to the steaks you get with the steak and egg breakfast at the Waffle House. read more

Went to lunch with a friend and needless to say I really wasn't impressed. I ordered the crab cakes as an appetizer and that was okay. It was flavorful and the bed of black eyed peas were okay. The issue was the ribeye, it was extremely fatty. I sent it back and the manager made it a point to let me know ribeyes are a fatty cut of meat but this steak was so chewy I could not swallow it. If i'm to pay almost $50 for a steak I would like to be able to digest it. I sent it back and got the shrimp and grits and it was disgusting. It tastes like they put honey mustard in it, it was nasty. I didn't even take it home, just left it on the table. The only reason I gave it two stars was because my friend really liked his salmon, garlic mash potatoes and broccoli. We walked in to a relatively empty parking lot and very obviously empty tables at 7 on Saturday. We were out looking to celebrate a wedding to take place the next day as family arrived. As we walked into the restaurant there were several of the staff chatting at the front and they asked how they could help us. We informed the staff we were coming in for dinner and before I could finish speaking, the gentleman of the group cur me off and said we would not be sat tonight and turned away from us. 2 and a half hours before close, multiple free tables in different sections, and an empty lot. My Family and friends went to Steak Street to celebrate my son 27th Birthday January 20,2023 I called two weeks in advance to make reservations for a party of 8 guests. I asked the lady on the phone at Steak Street did they allow you to bring in a Birthday Cake etc. she said yes you're more than welcome to bring in a Birthday Cake no worries. The food was good the vibes was good , the guy thier singing live was nice and he even started singing Happy Birthday to everyone. We requested to four different people to sing Happy Birthday to my son and he NEVER did . I was very disappointed about that. Then one of my guests drinks was made wrong management was very rude to them . That was strike two. Then we get our Bill and it has a cake service fee of $2.00 everyone received this fee . I was totally lost. I asked our waitress what was this fee for ? She said because you brought in a cake. I said Nobody told me it was fee even when I asked them on the phone. Some of my guests didn't even eat cake . All she said was sorry nobody told you . I didn't want to ruin my son Birthday night . So much more took place that it was too much to type. Took over 5 minutes before our waitress ever appeared. We understand the staffing issues, so gave them a pass here. They no longer have a "soup of the day" because of Covid? Whatever that means... The steak was tough and tasted a little like propane. Mashed potatoes were not hot. Had to ask for refills twice. Bill was over $100 for two adults and one kid. I had the opportunity to try this spot while attending the furniture market. I have to agree with some of the other reviews - nice spot, pleasant atmosphere - but something was missing. Not an Outback - that's for sure, but not really high end, like Ruth's Chris either. The Steak was OK, nothing outstanding. The sides were fine, table service was very good. Wine list good as well. My boyfriend and I dined here last night and enjoyed our experience. They had live music, which was nice. Our waiter was attentive and knowledgeable. We started out with fried oysters as an appetizer. They were a little over breaded but still very fresh and tasty. You must try the crab and corn bisque soup it was awesome! I had their signature ribeye steak. It was well cooked and seasoned nicely. The asparagus was simply grilled, which was fine with me. My boyfriend had the shrimp and grits and he seemed to enjoy it, even though the flavor of the sauce was a little more like bbq, which I wouldn't have liked. This is a place I need to try again because I feel like it will warrant four stars. On my visit I ate in the bar and took advantage of their half price appetizers (before 6pm). This is a pretty good deal as everything was good and large enough for the three of us to share. A great way to check out a variety of the menu. Warm cozy atmosphere, we had the deviled eggs as a starter, main course I had the T bone with asparagus and mushrooms. The meat was cooked to perfection and vegetables were just right. The other main course was scallops Jamaican style. Grilled lightly with fried banana and a Jamaican salsa. Well the scallops were superb. Where to start with Steak Street. Firstly, the atmosphere in the dinning room section of the restaurant is, in my opinion, hideous. From the strange layout and the dated decor, I always choose to sit in the bar/covered patio section. The servers are always just decent but not something I would remember about my experience there. I really enjoyed the Corn & Crab Bisque. We've actually gone back for just that and an app since. The crab cake sandwich was very good as well but some more acidity would be great. We tried Steak Street for the first time this weekend and it was fabulous! Our server, Nia, was friendly, knowledgeable, and very attentive. We had the fried oyster and calamari appetizers, which came out hot and perfectly timed. My husband and I had Caesar salads before our entrees came out and they were tasty and fresh. I ordered the bourbon beef bites, which were perfectly cooked and seasoned. My husband's filet was also perfectly cooked, bacon-wrapped and bleu cheese topped. Even my daughters enjoyed their food, and the server was particularly attentive to them as well. Wine and cocktail selections were fantastic and overall this was a great experience. This was one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. The atmosphere was outstanding and the food was amazing. Our waiter, Dane, was excellent. We took his advice on drinks and dinner selection and we could not have been happier. The lobster bisque was simply delicious. My husband had the blackened mahi-mahi with a mango chutney and he thoroughly enjoyed every single bite. I had the surf n turf and it was cooked to perfection. The steak juicy and cooked to temp (medium rare) and the shrimp crunchy. We are taking dessert home (lemon marscapone cake) and just know that it will be the perfect end to this meal. Let me say that this is a great place to come if you are traveling alone and don't want to sit in the dining room. Apps are half off for happy hour and a perfect portion. This restaurant was right across the parking lot from our hotel so we decided to give it a try. The first impression is this place is huge and really elegant inside. The atmosphere is intimate and relaxing. We started with wine and drinks and my mojito was excellent. It was 1/2 off wine night so we enjoyed a bottle of moscato as well. I had the chicken pasta tossed in a pepper jack cheese sauce and it was phenomenal! The pasta was perfectly al dente and the sauce creamy and cheesy. Be prepared. This is a huge portion! 10/10 The others in my party both had the filet and they said it was tender and juicy. The service was fantastic and friendly. We also happened to be there for live entertainment and he was also fantastic. All in all this was a fantastic experience. The complementary bread while we waited for our food bread was warm & amazing. We both had the shrimp gumbo as an appetizer and it was very tasty. I had been wanting to try this place for years and things were looking hopeful from the friendly hostess to the romantic interior decor. But then we sat down at our table. Service: Good, not great. They filled drinks, they took orders. The man told me there were 6 scallops in the scallop appetizer (2 skewers of 3 each to be precise). But the two men who waited on our table had absolutely no personality. You can be upscale without acting snobbish. A lady at my table asked a question, then asked another, stating "I'm sorry, I don't mean to be difficult." He answered ever so seriously, "I believe you." We weren't sure how to take it. Food: Terrible. Not bad, terrible. My husband ordered the prime rib and didn't care for it. I tried it and for $30- something I've had much better. I preferred the scallop appetizer which didn't come out as skewers at all. No biggie except that there were only 5 scallops. The scallops were wrapped in bacon which should compliment the flavor but all I tasted were 1. Bacon and 2. Grit. Grit comes from not washing the scallops properly. I expect I might experience a bite of grit Ina plate of scallops but EVERY single bite was gritty. It was so bad I ate 2 and didn't take the rest with me. That was $17 down the drain. Two of the ladies ordered a shrimp cajun pasta, though one ordered it non spicy. Both pastas came out identical looking and tasting. The only good food of the night was the key lime pie. For the money we paid to eat here I would rather fork over the moolah and splurge on Print Works or Green Valley Grill. Even having an Attractions coupon doesn't make this place worth it! read more

From the moment my wife and I walked in I wanted to like the place. The restaurant looks amazing and the music was great. It started to go a bit downhill almost immediately. They had live music going on in the main dining room...yet the hostess took us out to the patio area beyond the bar to sit by ourselves where we couldn't hear that live music. A bit of an odd choice....but ok. It did make me wonder if we were placed there because we had been deemed under dressed. Yes...it was a Saturday night, but the weather was terrible and we had on casual clothes. Not exactly the time to get all dressed up. It wasn't till a bit later when a group of guys were seated in the same area whom appeared to be a work crew...probably working overtime to take care of one utility or another due to the hurricane that my suspicions were basically confirmed. I can't say for sure that's what happened....but that's certainly the impression I got. Now...I will compliment our server. He was very attentive and did a very good job. Moving on to the food: I ordered a cup of shrimp gumbo to go with my dinner. While I'm not an expert on gumbo, I'm pretty sure that it's meant to be served hot and this cup was most certainly not. At least not all the way through. The shrimp and rice (which were on the bottom) were cold. Moving on to the main course, I ordered the Bourbon Street Filet. It was a pretty good steak....but nothing overly special. In the same price range I've had much, much better. If you're going to charge $50 for a steak....it better be incredible. All in all, I can now understand why the parking lot was nearly empty on a Saturday night. I wanted to attribute that to the weather....but it was hard to do given that the Japanese place next door was pretty jumping. Probably should have taken that as a more serious clue. Anyway, if I'm going to spend more than $100 for dinner (no alcohol, btw), then I'll skip Steak Street in the future and head for Ryan's or Fratelli's over in Winston. We won't be back because the quality is just not there for the prices they're charging. Oh....and if you're offering live music, don't put customers where they can't hear it. read more

Visited Steak Street last night with a small group of friends. The good We sat in the enclosed porch outside. The music was playing from the bar and the play list was fantastic. The menu is diverse with a Louisiana influence. We shared 3 appetizers, Crab dip, scallops and calamari and each was delicious. The main course was jambalaya and it was very good too. The bad The service was mediocre at best. The waiter had limited interactive skills. Could have worked at McDonald. He suggested creme brulee for dessert and when it was time to order he said it wasn't caramelized sugar. It turned out to look like a mud pie. I guess there's a reason their is an automatic 18% gratuity for parties of 6. The ugly Steak street is way over priced. I don't mind paying a premium for quality food and service. This is more expensive than Fleming's or a high-end steak house but the food and service does not compare. I definitely will not be returning anytime soon. read more

Four of us ate here last night for the first time. The interior of restaurant is oddly decorated as a fellow Yelper stated. Not really sure what they are trying to accomplish, but it had no affect on the food. Our server got a few things wrong with the appetizers but she was fast and nothing was over the top wrong. Three of the four dishes; pork chop, short ribs and cobb salad were above average with the Prime Rib being the one that was not liked at all. No one ever told us about the specials but that's not that unusual at many restaurants. All in all, tonight was above average dining. My meal was the 2" thick Pork Chop cooked perfectly medium rare at $27 which came with 1 side and small Cesar salad plus my beer and total bill was $33. Not sure how that is Ruth Chris pricing but whatever. I suggest you give it a try and save ordering the steak for Ruth Chris. read more

After a perfect meal last night at Fleming's in Greensboro, tonight's meal was quite a disappointment.. We split a "Wedge Salad" ($9) which unfortunately was the highlight of my dinner.. My wife had the 8oz "Steak Street Filet" ($34) which was ordered medium, but came out rare to mid-rare at best.. She kept it without mentioning it to our server. She gave me a couple of bites, and I will say that it was very good although I always order my filet "Pittsburgh Rare". I ordered the "Grilled Marinated Pork Chops" ($25) which were (2) 6oz bone-in pork chops topped with "house-made" BBQ sauce. Our Entrees came with a small house salad and a side. We both asked if we could forgo the small house salad and get a second side. Our server said that was fine which was a plus. I ordered my pork chops "medium" and asked the server to please tell the kitchen that I wanted them juicy as I'm not a fan of dry pork chops. They where cooked to temp and did not appear dry, but they were so tough that I struggled to cut into one with my steak knife, so I sent them back. I had to negotiate with the server to allow me to keep my 2 sides, (one of which was in place of my side salad), so I could continue with a portion of my meal. She informed me that the Sea Bass I had ordered came with its own side.. Finally, she set a small bread plate down and asked for the 2 chops which I gladly turned over.. My 2 sides were "Creamed Spinach" and a "Loaded Baked Potato". They were good.. Not great, but good. I had decided to make a change and go with the "Chilean Sea Bass Special" ($34) which was a pan seared filet served on a bed of wilted spinach and served atop a corn grit cake with a brown butter sauce.. When it finally came out, IT LOOKED AMAZING... All the bad that had plagued our meal was forgotten...... That was until I went to cut into my fish... It was raw in the middle... Ugg...!!! It should have been nice and flakey, but I could not cut through it with my fork... I sent it back and asked that they just finish cooking it... That took forever....!! I finally asked that when it was ready to just box it "to-go" since my wife had already finished her meal about 10 minutes earlier. The "manager" passed by and offered free dessert which took another 15 minutes just to get a slice of Key Lime Pie and Warm Bread Pudding. We were so ready to go after nearly 2 hours.... We had a "Dine a Mate" coupon for $15.00 off an entree with purchase of another entree. The server rang us up and dropped our check off like nothing had ever happened.. I was surprised and disappointed the manager didn't tell us to keep our coupon, comp the Sea Bass, and ask us to give them another try..... No such offer. I was especially surprised since the manager personally brought out my first attempt at the sea bass and told me she actually saw the pork chops that I had sent back and apologized for how tough they were. She told us she was "shocked" since the pork chops are always so good.. She was also aware of the problem with my fish.. Seems like we weren't the only table with issues.. Steak Street provides Outback quality food and atmosphere at Ruth's Chris prices. This is a place pretending to be an upscale chain restaurant, but the owners don't understand what that really means, starting with the assumption that one even wants to eat in a chain restaurant. The prices are ridiculously high for what you get; for $60 a head one could have an exceptional meal at Table 16 or any other local restaurant. Just look at the pictures of the food. :-) Even the music was puzzling for this price range. The performer had a nice voice, but he sang along to a Karaoke-like accompaniment, complete with drum machine and cheesy synthesizer strings, playing elevator music's greatest hits of the 80s so loudly I had trouble hearing my dinner companions. Come to think of it, the music was a perfect reflection of the Steak Street experience. The one bright spot was the service, which was eager if not well trained, and helped to make sure our party made it to the theater on time. If you're used to eating at Olive Garden and other chain restaurants, then this must seem like a fancy restaurant, but they are charging double what it's worth. The sad thing is our area has a fantastic upscale New Orleans restaurant, Blue Denim in Greensboro, which is everything this place isn't: fun, authentic, handcrafted, and affordable. I most certainly would have eaten there instead, but we had tickets for the High Point theatre and needed someplace close to downtown High Point. read more
